The Patients Episode 7~ Come Clean Or Don't At All

Dear Journal,3

Well, I had a lovely but bittersweet holiday. Even though I got to hang out with my parents, seeing my mom in her condition broke my heart. But, she’s doing a lot better and she might be able to go home. Anyway, Christmas went well, I got a lot of clothes and jewelry and we watched the ball drop in my mom’s hospital room. I’m kinda glad that I get to go back to Green Wood. I missed everyone. Well, I gotta go. We’re almost there and I have to pack everything.4

I closed my journal and put it back in my duffle bag. When I looked up, I saw that dad was pulling into the parking lot. I closed my bag and swung it behind me. My dad parked the car and we got out. I breathed the cold air while my dad got my stuff out of the trunk.7

“Ready, sweetie?” he asked me.8

“Yup,” I answered. I grabbed one of the bags and we walked into Green Wood/ We walked up to the front desk and the secretary told us to sit and wait for Mr. Harrison and Mr. Nash. A few minutes later, they came and we exchanged hellos.9

“Well, how was your holidays?” asked Mr. Harrison. 10

“Fine,” my dad responded rather quickly.11

“Well, why don’t we get to Jaime’s room?” Mr. Nash asked. We both nodded and started walking out of the lobby. I was walking side by side with Mr. Nash while my dad was ahead of us with Mr. Harrison.12

How’s your mom doing, Jaime?” Mr. Nash whispered to me. 13

“She’s better,” I answered. But, those memories of mom and the hospital came back to me. Her lying there, looking pale and sweat pouring from her forehead…14

“Well, that’s good,” said Mr. Nash. I pushed those thoughts away and gave Mr. Nash a reassuring nod. We finally made it to my room and we put all my stuff down. I said goodbye to dad and he was off. Mr. Nash and Mr. Harrison left me to clean and re-organized my room. By the time I had everything back in place, there were knocks on my door. I opened the door to find Bianca, Justin, Lola, and Cody there with excited looks on their faces.15

“Yay, you’re back!” exclaimed Lola. She pulled me into a bear hug and everyone joined in. 16

“We missed you so much. So, how were your holidays?” Bianca asked.17

“Good. It was nice to see my parents again,” I answered. Then, silence fell into the room. I could tell from their faces they didn’t want to ask about my mom.18

“But, enough about me. How were your holidays?” I asked, breaking the silence.19

“Boring, but we tried to have fun. It wasn’t the same with you here,” said Cody.20

“Uh, we better go guys. We gotta go to that…thing,” Lola said. She grabbed Bianca and Justin’s hand and pulled them out the door. She turned head and winked at me and slammed the door behind her.21

Well, now that we’re alone…” said Cody. He put his arms around my waist and gave me a peck on the lips. Suddenly, I got turned on. I grabbed his neck and I pulled him in. I didn’t realize how much I missed kissing him. We collapsed on my bed and we made out like there was no tomorrow. He moved his lips down my neck and then I almost thought we were gonna have sex right then and there. But, I couldn’t control myself so I let him keep kissing me there. Then, I felt fingertips under my shirt and I hopped up.22

“Woah, watch it,” I said.23

“I’m sorry, I thought you were okay with it…” he said.24

“Well, I wasn’t. Do you know what time it is?” I snapped. I looked down at the watch I got for Christmas. It was almost time for lunch.25

“You need to go,” I told him. He got up off my bed and straighten his shirt. He walked to the door looked back and me and gave me a small ‘sorry’ smile. He peaked out and snuck out the door. I fixed myself up and I caught up with Lola, Justin, and Bianca. We took our regular table and ate our lunch. Today, it was hamburgers.26

“You know, hamburgers are the best thing since slice bread,” said Justin.27

“You’re such a loser,” Bianca said sarcastically.28

“Yea, but aren’t I your loser?” he asked. They giggled and Justin quickly pecked Bianca’s cheek. I shuddered and went back to eating.29

“Hey, what’s wrong?” Bianca asked me.30

“Nothing,” I replied. 31

“Girl, don’t lie. Cause to be honest, you aren’t good at it,” said Lola. She did have a point. I put my hand forward as a signal to lean in closer. 32

“Okay, well after you guys left, Cody and me were making out,” I whispered.33

“Jaime, that isn’t a big secret you know,” said Lola. We all glared at her and she said ‘sorry’34

“We tried to have sex in my room,” I said as low as I could. All three of their jaws dropped.35

“No way. Are you that serious with Cody?” Bianca asked me.36

“No, it’s just my head was saying no but my hormones were saying yes. But, the second I felt his fingertips under my shirt…” I whispered.37

“Jaime, it sounds like Cody wants this to be a serious relationship. And if you don’t want that, you have to tell him straight up,” said Bianca.38

“Okay. It just that…wouldn’t he know that I wanted to stop?” I asked. We all looked with blank faces, knowing that no one had an answer. As we saw Rose running towards our table we got out of our huddle and pretended to act like nothing happened. 39

“Do you guys mind if I sit here?” she asked. We all nodded yes and she took a seat. We all knew something was wrong but we didn’t know who was gonna ask. Rose kept looking down at the table and she kept turning her head and looking behind her. 40

Is something wrong, Rose?” asked Lola.41

“Yes. My parents called me. We have occasional conversations every now and then. I decided today that I was gonna come out to my parents. I did and…” she broke down into tears and Lola moved her seat next to Rose.42

“What happened? What did they say?” Lola asked.43

“They didn’t say anything. They hung up on me,” she said. We all sat in silent. I wanted to say something but, what was there to say?44

After lunch, the day wore on. Rose stayed with her counselor, Mrs. Kelly, for the rest of the day. Kerry kept asking people if they seen her, but everyone lied. I kinda felt sorry for her. Next thing I knew, it was time for bed as I was getting into my pajama pants. I was almost scared to sleep in my bed but I let the thought of what happened there pass by. I climbed into bed and fell asleep.45

The next morning, everything went on as usual. Rose seemed better than she was last night. I didn’t see Kerry so I couldn’t tell you. As we were hanging out in our wing, a familiar face came by: Aiden.46

“Hey, long time no see,” said Lola.47

“Sorry, had a lot of a**-kissing to do over the break. My dad kept dragging me to all these parties,” he said.48

“Sounds like he’s a little over protective,” I said.49

“Don’t worry about it, I’m gonna come around more often. By the way…” he started to say until Rose came up from behind him and tapped him on the shoulder. She had a cherry Tootsie roll lollipop in her mouth50

“Aiden, can I talk to you for a minute?” she asked. She popped the lollipop out of her mouth. For a minute, no one said anything. Something definitely wasn’t right. Aiden turned around and gave us a look and he turned his head back to Rose.51

“Sure,” he answered. He got up and was literally dragged away from us.52

“What’s up, Rose?” Aiden asked.53

“Well, Aiden I have a confession. I always had a thing for you. I was wondering, if you’d wanna go out sometime?” she asked. At that moment, I became speechless. I tried to say something but no words came out. Sure, I was pretty much over Jaime but I didn’t want to get back dating yet. But, she looked so desperate…54

“Aren’t you with Kerry?” Aiden blurted out. Bad move.55

“Yea, but I was just exploring my sexuality. And I realized that I wasn’t into girls,” she said. She put the lollipop in her mouth and gave me a smile. Now, she looked even more desperate than before.56

“Sure. I actually got tickets to this concert we could go to,” Aiden said.57

“Sounds great,” she said. She gave me a wink and walked away. As I was walking back, reality hit me hard. I just said yes to a date. Was I only doing this for kindness? To get over Jaime? To get away from my dad? I couldn’t find the answer. I saw the guys and realized that I needed advice…fast.58

“So, what did Miss Tootsie want?” asked Bianca.59

“She asked me out on a date and I said yes,” Aiden answered.60

“Really? What are you guys doing?” asked Justin.61

“Well, I got free tickets to a Usher concert from one of the parties I went to,” Aiden answered.62

“I’m guessing the lollipop got to you,” said Bianca.63

“No, she just seemed…desperate,” he said. 64

“No offense but, how do you plan on getting her out of here?” asked Jaime.65

“Oh God, I don’t know,” said Aiden. So, we laughed it off and we helped Aiden figure out the perfect plan. After we were sure it was gonna work, Aiden left. 66

The next couple of days passed by and it was the night of Aiden’s date. Aiden kept going through the plan inside his mind. But he was so nervous, he thought he would screw it up. But, he knew he couldn’t back out now. Everything was in place and he was dressed for it. So, he took a deep breath and walked into Valerie’s office.67

“Hey, Valerie my dad wants to see you in his office,” said Aiden.68

“Really? For what?” she asked.69

“I don’t know, he just told me to get you,” said Aiden as smooth as possible. Valerie nodded and she walked out. Aiden slipped out of her office and made his way to Rose’s room. When he got there, he lightly knocked on her door. The door opened a crack and Rose’s head popped out70

“Oh, it’s you,” she said. She opened the door wider to show her whole body. She was wearing a purple tank top that revealed her big chest. She wore a little jean jacket over it with jeans and matching flip-flops.71

“Wow, you look great,” was all he could say.72

“Thanks. We better go before someone sees us,” she said. So, she grabbed Aiden’s hand and they ran as fast as they could to the front of the building. Outside, the limo was waiting and they hopped in.73

A few minutes later, it was time for dinner and everyone walked to the cafeteria.75

“So, Jaime, what do you think?” asked Bianca.76

“Think about what?” I asked.77

“Aiden going out with Rose? If you ask me, they don’t go together,” said Bianca.78

“He just said yes cause she was desperate, you heard him. I highly doubt he likes her,” I said.79

“Well, that’s true,” said Justin.80

“It’s weird. Rose did admit she was gay. So, why is she asking out Aiden? I thought her and Kerry were together,” Lola pointed out.81

“Yea, she did,” said Bianca.82

“Wait, you don’t think…” I started to say. But before I could say anything, Lola slammed her fists on the table.83

“Knew it. Rose knew that her parents didn’t accept her. She’s trying to make herself un-gay,” said Lola.84

“Why would she do that?” asked Bianca.85

“It’s simple. Kids don’t like it when they disappoint their parents. So, they make themselves how their parents want them to be,” answered Justin.86

“How do you think Kerry’s taking all this?” I asked.87

“To be honest, I don’t think she knows,” answered Lola. The four of them sat there in disbelief, having no clue what to do.88

Aiden and Rose both got out of the limo. As Aiden was getting the blanket out of the trunk he brought with him, he took a deep breath. Don’t worry, it’s just one night.90

“Ready, Aiden?” Rose asked. Aiden shook his second thoughts and closed the trunk. He walked up next to Rose and finger-laced her hand and walked towards the stadium where Usher would perform. When we showed our tickets to the guy, we walked into a vast, green field. Right in the center was the stadium. Most people come early and they sit around on chairs and blankets. As I was going more towards the stadium, Rose was pulling me another way. 91

“What are you doing? The concert’s that way,” Aiden pointed out.92

“Yea, but I want to go up there, where there’s less people,” she said. She pointed at a hill with a tree planted right in the middle. I followed her all the way to the top and we collapsed against the tree.93

“Wow, that’s one big hill,” Aiden said. We laughed as I laid out the blanket. We took our seats and talked for a little bit until I saw people going in for the concert. It was getting dark and I knew that the concert was gonna start soon. When I got up, I felt Rose tugging my arm.94

“What? The concert’s starting,” said Aiden. Then, she pulled me down and the next thing I knew, we were making out. She let go of me and gave me a smile.95

“I’d rather do this than any concert,” she said. She pulled me back in and seemed to have lost track of time after that…96

When dinner was done, we all decided that we weren’t going to tell Kerry…well, that’s what I thought was the final decision. We all kept having second thoughts.98

“Guys, this can’t go on forever. She’ll find out soon enough,” reassured Bianca.99

“But, we’re kinda her friends. Friends don’t keep secrets from each other,” said Justin.100

“But then again, this isn’t any of our business,” I pointed out.101

“But, it doesn’t feel right,” said Lola. There, Lola had a point. Even though we didn’t talk to Kerry a whole lot, it’s not right that we keep this away from her. She has feelings to and this was making me sick to the stomach.102

“Okay then, lets go tell her,” I announced. They all nodded in agreement and we made our way towards Kerry’s room. When we got there, I knocked on her door and I took a deep breath. The door opened and Kerry appeared with a surprised look on her face.103

“Hey guys. What’s up?” she asked.104

“Kerry, we need to tell you something,” I blurted out right away.105

“What do you need to tell me? What is this about?” she asked, completely clueless.106

To my surprise, Rose was a great kisser. To be honest, her kiss was like a drug: I couldn’t get enough. But then she started getting a little raunchy. She pushed herself against my body and that’s when I finally stopped.108

“Woah, slow down,” Aiden warned her.109

“Why, isn’t this what you want?” she asked.110

“No, not really. You know if we go now, we can catch the second half of Usher,” I offered.111

“Nah, I wasn’t a fan of Usher in the first place,” she said. Then, she grabbed me again and we were going at it again. I tried to stop myself but I couldn’t. I guess I didn’t give her a lot of credit. But, she started pushing it when she took my hands and placed them under her shirt and started moving them up. I took my hands away and I stopped.112

“Didn’t I tell you to stop?” Aiden asked her.113

“Look, I’m sorry but, I’m ready,” said Rose. I almost forgot to breathe when she said that. Was she saying what I thought she was saying?114

“Are you sure you know what you’re saying?” Aiden asked.115

“Will you stop questioning everything? I’m here with you aren’t I? Don’t you wanna take advantage of this moment?” Rose asked. Then, she let out a frustrated sigh and buried her face into her arms.116

“Okay, are you trying to convince me? Cause, you don’t sound convinced yourself,” Aiden said. Then, Rose lifted up her face to reveal tears streaming down.117

“What’s wrong, Rose?” Aiden asked.118

“Look, I have a confession to make. First, lets start off with this: I’m gay. Secondly, I came out to my parents and they won’t even talk to me. Thirdly, this isn’t a real date. I’m only using you to become straight again,” answered Rose.119

“Wait a minute, what? You’re saying that you’re using me to become straight again?” Aiden asked.120

“Look, I’m sorry…” Rose started to say.121

“No, don’t be. But, do you seriously think you can make yourself straight by making out with guys? Rose, you are who you are. No matter how many guys you kiss,” said Aiden.122

“I know but, what if the people who are close to my heart aren’t ready for me?” she asked.123

“You’ll just have to wait for them. They’ll come around,” said Aiden.124

“Thanks,” said Rose. We gave each other a hug.125

“Well, I’m gonna call the limo, okay?” Aiden asked. Rose nodded yes and he took out his cell phone. The limo came 20 minutes later and they headed back to Green Wood. When they were dropped off, Aiden snuck Rose into an elevator, and hit the button again for another elevator.126

“AIDEN!” shouted a familiar voice. Aiden freezed and turned around to see his dad and Valerie standing a few feet away from him. 127

“Am I in trouble?” Aiden asked dumbfounded.128

“You have no idea,” answered Valerie.129

It was passed bedtime but everyone was outside of there rooms. They knew Rose snuck out of Green Wood with Aiden. They also knew that Kerry was pissed off. Lola stood by Kerry, holding her hand to calm her down. 131

“I mean, I just can’t believe her, she said she…” Kerry said, sounding heart-broken, embarrassed, and angry at the same time. Her eyes were really watery but she held back her tears. Then, The wing grew quiet. Rose came walking through with her head down. She must’ve known that word got out. Before Lola could grasp Kerry, she stormed straight up to Rose, blocking her from her door.132

“Heard about your little date with Aiden,” said Kerry.133

“Kerry, not now,” snapped Rose. But as Rose was going to grabbed the doorknob, Kerry grabbed her hand and turned her around so that she was facing her. 134

“Yes, now. Last time I checked, you were my baby,” snapped Kerry.135

“Baby, you are…” Rose started to say but Kerry’s punch to the wall shut her up.136

“You know what, Miss Fifth Avenue? I’m really getting sick of you taking advantage of me,” said Kerry.137

“Baby, what…” said Rose.138

“Look, I know that you flirt with some of the other girls here. And last week, I saw you flirting with boys too!” shouted Kerry.139

“Kerry, there will always be boys and girls flirting with me! Give me a freakin’ break, I can’t help it,” shouted Rose. 140

“Look, Rose, I’m not your doormat. You either put out or get out!” shouted Kerry. She punched the wall again and stormed into her room. Rose let out a frustrated sigh and went inside her room. Eventually, everyone went back into their rooms.141

“So, do you think they’ll make up, Jaime?” asked Bianca.142

“Who knows? Anything can happen at Green Wood” I said.143

“Amen,” said Bianca.144
