Justice and Racist

There was once a land called “Eternia.” This land was originally dominated by barbarians and necromancers. Barbarians and necromancers often have small battle with each others due to their difference in appearance, race, thoughts, and skills. On one stormy night, there was bad conflict between the two races. They are on a dreadfully intense battle, on the northern coast; 5 ships wrecked this massive land, 5 ships packed with humans’ refugees from a distant land looking to build a new home. Humans adapted themselves with the barbarians because they were outnumbered… while barbarians are stronger, humans are smarter, craftier and some can even practice sorcery. Time passed by humans started dominating the northern land without the barbarians noticing, what were villages started becoming towns and kingdoms. Finally, on the northern land of Eternia… nothing was scattered any more… the land was divided into seven kingdoms, some ruled by barbarians, some by humans. The necromancers, however remained silenced…n lived among themselves faraway from these kingdoms.1

One fine day…in the kingdom named Tinus….2

A Barbaric king, Ithius, called his daughter into his throne room. ‘You are my daughter!’ He shouted ‘and you will marry who ever I order you to!’ – His daughter, Princess Sara, stood with her back on a wall, kept her eyes away from her old man, for they are big, blood red and scary. She stood there as pale as the ivory wall behind her while the king kept on enquiring her about her secret affair. Truthfully, the king didn’t really want to know anything about the affair… He just wanted to know the name of the guy.
‘If I let you know the name’ said Sara in a soft tone ‘will you promise to do him no harm?’
‘No harm?’ Ithius shouted back ‘No, my daughter, I shall do him no harm. I will just put him to death upon hearing his name, and if you will not tell me I will find it out my self.’
Princess Sara came back to her room in fear of loosing what she loved. She has a barbarian blood in her veins, but her mother was a human thus she is not as savage as savage as her old man. While her father could only think of war, taste wine from a distant land, eat raw meet and shout ‘ho ho ho’ upon the sight of blood, she has other side to feel, to fly high by a gentle touch on her lips, to keep the man she loved on her mind.
‘Sara, my love’ a soft voice came through a window that made the princess jumped and looked that way ‘ I missed thee so much I just have to come see thee’
It was a knight from a human kingdom, a knight who is not a royal family, a knight who by legal law is not allowed to marry a princess, a knight named Jonathan. The princess felt both shocked and safe at the same time. She was shocked because of a fear that her father will see him on the other hand she felt safe simply because every time she see him…she just felt that she is safe in some other exotic land away from the politics. She quickly let him in the room and told him that her father already suspected her of having an affair. He touched her shoulder and gently kissed her on the forehead. He told her that everything will be fine.
‘Hey! Look what I have bought you’ said Jonathan suddenly, taking out small piece of green jelly-like material from beneath his chest armor ‘Its heart of a giant spider, Harock, we slain today.’
Sara took the gift from her love and stared at it while sitting on her bed, in his arm. It’s crystal clear, and according to her it’s more beautiful than a Perl, one of her officer gave her after his visit to the ocean. She wondered how could a heart oh such an ugly be so beautiful, while start to imagine what the spider would look like and what Jonathan might have been through slaying it.
‘I was the first one to stab the, Harock, so the soldiers agree that the heart belongs to me, it’s very rare …and also believed to bring good fortune.’
‘Oh Jonathan, why do you have to fight, do you know I worry about you every second because of your duty’
‘Fighting, for development of our kingdom, milady …no not our kingdom, it is my dream to see all the seven kingdoms united as one and far more civilized than we had ever imagine. The men and the barbarians will live together in unity, under the same flag.’
‘Still, I don’t know… it is not the buildings that I am concerned with, my love, it is you. My precious, I fear you will be harm during the course of fulfilling your dream.’
‘Milady, I assure you, you have nothing to worry about that. As of now, I am one of the best in my rank as far as skill and experience are concern.’
‘Aye, milord that is what I fear. I fear your rapid upraise to greatness will eventually bring you to doom before your time. You must not blame me, it is not wrong to fear for the lost of the one u love, may be frustrating but… not wrong…’
Their conversion was broken by their silence, knight’s arm tightly around princess. They sat like that for hours. They both felt warm in each other’s presence, they were connected physically and spiritually.
‘The image of how we met still lingers within my thoughts, and still kept repeating itself all the time’ said the knight with his head on Sara’s shoulder and his arm around her ‘We just fought the nomads off our lands, and while I was resting in my camp, just as sun started to raise beyond the horizon. I heard the sweetest of all voice… I walked out to find out from whom does this divine symphony was shaped without its four movements… and then… I saw an angel… brushing her hair by the water fountain, yes… her hair… it was bright orange…just like this one…’
Jonathan started to touch Princess’s hair and move his hand back and forth in its direction.
‘and you approached me as archangel approached our lands, just like Igre, great barbarian savior approached my father in a distant past. You are a savior of my soul; you are an enchanter of my physique. We then, kept talking with each other the whole night… and then …’
The door slammed opened!!! A gigantic barbarian warrior caught them on the bed, his eyes grow red, and he was as shocked as the couple in the room.
‘Jonathan?’ shouted the barbarian, still in a shocked condition.
‘Lethus?’ Screamed princess and the knight together equally surprised.
‘Quick! Through the window!’ whispered the princess finally while both men are still stunned. Jonathan, quickly took his hand off Sara, Jumped off the bed and climbed out the window. Not even a second later a bunch of Tinus’ guards stormed in the room.
‘Lethus! Did you saw who was with the princess?’ inquired, Setin, the guards captain.
Lethus turned to look at the princess whose eyes have turned to a pleasing one.
‘No! I didn’t’ said Lethus very softly and banged his way out of the guards that was blocking the door. It was learned later that it was one of the officer in the post that saw a man suspiciously making his way in to the castle area. The event immediately made it’s way to kings ear and that man was instantly suspected of having an affair with the princess. A fine warrior, one of the best, in fact, was in the room. Lethus was talking to the king about army status. He hastily ran to princess’ bedroom as soon as he heard King’s opinion about that man’s business in the kingdom. What he didn’t know is that the man he will find in the room would be, Jonathan, his best human ally, his best companion. Jonathan’s kingdom, Onil and Tinus was a formidable ally thus, Jonathan and Lethus, had fought many great battles together.
In a meantime the knight from Onil was spotted again, while escaping, but this time not suspiciously walking but climbing out of princess room. As soon as he noticed that some one saw him let go, jumped down and started running into the direction he didn’t know of. He was followed by a guard which later became a group of guards. All of them were well armed with swords, and shields, and spears. The knight ran and ran for hours and hours until he had no strength left in him. His legs was injured, his body were wounded by plants and insects. His arm has an arrow stuck on it; it was shot by one of the guard. It was a miracle that he got to where he was with those injuries. But that’s all he could go… he fell to the grounds by running, he was tired, his eyelids got heavy and started to cover his eyes while he started to force it up. His hands laid flat to the ground while he tried to force his body up. His legs was semi broken while he was thinking of walking, he was exhausted while he imagine himself fighting with the guards which were definitely going to approach him. He failed in all his attempts, his eyelids successfully made its way down…3

About six hours later…4

The knight’s eyelids open up again. He attempted to find out where he is, and what he found out is he was on the bed, his wounds and injuries are plastered…there are herbs on some of them. He was in some kind of hut made of wood. There was food on the table and his stomach was roaring for it, he wanted to get up but he can’t with all his wounds, and besides he felt extremely relax in his bed. He thought an incredibly kind hunter of some kind must have found him before those soldiers. Just while he was thinking, the door knob turned and the door was gently opened, a blonde, young, and sweet looking girl emerged.
‘Oh! Good that u woke up…I was so very worried, your wounds are very deep… well not fatal though, but I am worried still… he he he he he’
Jonathan didn’t quite understand the girl’s joke and starting to feel her as a bit not full minded that she laughed to her self.
‘Where is your father young maiden?’ asked Jonathan suddenly
‘…’ the girl paused a bit ‘I live alone...’
‘Live alone? In this woods? Oh… so you are the one who… saved me… aha… so when can I leave?’
‘I know this place isn’t as luxurious as where you cam from, sir knight, but I think you better stay until your wounds are healed’ said the maiden with a lot softer and disappointed tone.
‘You got me wrong …ahh… what’s your name?’
‘My name is se~.. ahh… Marry sir’ replied the young girl ‘Marry, is my name, and it would be very kind of you if you could tell me your name too.’
‘My name Jonathan and you got me wrong earlier… what I was asking was when would I be healed? And I am also I little bit curious of the reason the young girl like you living alone in this woods without any guardians or families.’
‘Well…’ said Marry, looking sadder and loner ‘I ran away from my house weeks ago, I hated there. But I am doing fine here I have food and house and everything a girl would need to survive.’
Marry started to smile a bit after her last words. She looked at Jonathan for a while and when he looked back she jumped from her seat and started making dinner. There were heavy woods in the house, and the stocks in the store were gathered from all around the jungle. The hut turned to be the magical place for Jonathan, he in fact, felt far more comfortable than his home. Marry took care of him like a king, every movements… his feelings grows for marry, but never decreased for Sara. Marry looked far more happy than the first day that he saw her. He knew that marry had a feeling for him and he also knew that he can never love her as much as he loved Sara even though he had a feeling for her. He knew he needed to leave before their relationship progressed further.
On the third day, Jonathan’s wounds were finally healed but he was persuaded to stay on. Everyday for him is like a new day. The Knight and Marry did so many activities together and it never seems to end. They talk about everything from butterflies on the backyard to philosophies. But as time grows Jonathan started to doubt about Marry, about where he was living. There was definitely something irregular about it because the big woods seem to keep coming and he didn’t knew who could have carried it to the hut. There were unlimited food variety form all around the jungle too, and he didn’t have any idea who gathered them all when Marry was with him all the times.
Fifth night, Jonathan was awaken at midnight because of strange sounds from beyond the hut’s wall. He saw a faint golden light from the window, and smelled dead flesh. Though he wasn’t that sure of the smell because it was extremely fait he was sure that it was of something dead. He quickly grabbed his sword and put it inside his night suit. He walked to the door and turned a door knob to open the door, while turning it he was expecting what he would see beyond it but his curiously overwhelmed his intellect. The door was opened without any thought in his head at all, except he kept thinking about Sara all the time, even when he was doing activities with Marry or when he was turning the door knob, he always miss her a lot.
‘Aeera kata moomba lahasanisto ni shea…’ It was Marry talking in strange language and around her was bunch of skeletons. Some of them were eating animals flesh and some of them were doing works like carrying woods and Marry was commanding them all.
‘She is a devil’ thought Jonathan almost instantly ‘and she will turn me to one of those skeletons too… as soon as she finished preparing me!... ahh!! Those herbs, I should have known. She is definitely building an undead army… to… ahh.. Kill every one, I have to stop this.’
Although Jonathan never saw or dealt with an undead before, but from his experience, he knew exactly how to weaken the force of beasts… Slay their leader…
The knight carefully and quietly sneaked to where the maiden was standing. The cold weather of the night started to give him a chill in the stomach. Finally he was crouching behind the maiden. He looked at her again and tried to remember the times they send together, but suddenly! Her wand was pointed at one of the corpse and that corpse burst. The blood from the corpse seemed to have dried out long ago, but Jonathan could see come organs and some fluid flows out. Seconds later a skeleton emerged from that corpse and joined the other. That moment, the knight was convinced that Marry was certainly a devil of some kind. He pulled his sword out from his night suit and started counting the skeleton…he even thought that he will assassinate the maiden first and the run away to inform his kingdom which apparently he didn’t know its in which direction but he intended to find out.
Jonathan was now extremely close to the maiden but he was completely noiseless, besides she was talking too loud to notice anything around her anyway. He uses his left hand to cover her mouth and right hand to swiftly put a sword through her stomach and pulled it out. Suddenly a miracle happened… he didn’t have to think about the skeleton force no more! The all crack down as soon as Marry was stabbed. Jonathan laid her down to the ground and thought if he had made a mistake… she was such a sweet girl.
‘So love is that defiance or is it just me?’ said marry very slowly. She looked at Jonathan without blinking even once. ‘All these times you were with me… what have I shown you but my love? And you just heartlessly slay me just because I am different that what you are? Well… I may be different in some aspects but have I no red blood flowing in my veins? Did I not laugh with you on something amusing? Cannot I love you when we are just born slightly different? ...’
Jonathan looked back at her realizing that he has mistaken in spontaneous judgment. Tears started to fill his eyes as he looked at her. ‘Oh… do not cry my young prince’ said Marry again slower than the last time. ‘It is my mistake that I did not tell you about my self before … I was scared that you wouldn’t be able to accept me. I was scared… of this. Anyway, now that it doesn’t matter, I am a necromancer name Sennah. I was born loyal… actually a princess of the remains of my kin and kind, but now the blood line for my kin has ended, I guess. I ran from my home because I hate to hide and I disagree on the fact that humans wouldn’t understand my life style as my folks says… now I think I started to understand. But I think the last word I really want to say is… kadeek ged eee… means I love you… in my tongue’
Sennah died smiling. ‘I love you too…’ Said Jonathan but he was only a second too late…
Jonathan got up with Sennah in his arms. He walked to the log where they used to sit and count butterflies together. The knight buried her underneath the flowers that the butterflies gather.
‘Thou art beautiful… just like these butterflies…’ said Jonathan smiling with tears in his eyes. Hundreds and thousands of butterflies flew around him and Sennah… even that she was underground… ‘ … There art nay evilness in thee… none at all… it was all my mistake.’
Jonathan didn’t say any word of love for her to hear… not even once. He walked head down, directionless into the woods again. He feeling was completely chaotic and confused just like his direction. Unexpectedly, as he was walking, a figure jumped down from tree directly on the knight.
‘I found him now! I got him!’ shouted the huge figure on Jonathan. He tried to look up but can’t clearly see what was on him but in front of him … three to four barbarians started to approach. He remembered that he was actually being hunted by the barbarians. He started to think of Sara, his angle.
The barbarians tied him up waiting for their king’s order. The chances are that the king will inform his soldiers to murder Jonathan right in the woods so that Sara won’t protest if the Knight is to be executed in the kingdom. By night fall he was tied to the tree while the barbarians sit by the camp fire, feed themselves and tell unconventional jokes. The ground started to shake a bit. He heard the sound of horse approaching. It was Lethus, he came to tell his fellow barbarians that the knight was not to be executed in the woods but instead to be bought back to the kingdom as the king’s order. They decided that they are going to make the move as soon as sun rises. Jonathan started to wonder… if king Ithius is so irrational and barbaric, why did the king want him to be taken back to the kingdom? Wouldn’t it be easier if he should be killed here? It must have been Sara! She must have done something…5

Six hours ago, back at Tinus… Lethus arrived with news that the knight was finally caught.
‘Put him to immediate death!!!!’ shouted Ithius instantly.
Before Lethus could leave the room, Princess Sara rushed in.
‘How are you sure that you have caught a right person?’ shouted Princess as she was running ‘Have you seen his face? If it be some other knight wandering in the woods then? Has our kingdom no justice? Look at our neighbors, they reason before thy act!’
Sara’s words put Itius into deep thought… ‘Bring the knight to Tinus’ Said the king finally ‘we will put him to trails and let justice decide his faith.’
‘But sire, we don’t have any court.’
‘Well then… we are going to build one Lethus.’6

The king did need justice for the civilization of his kingdom, yet he interpreted in different way for the barbaric blood in his veins. He had the court build almost like a gladiator stadium. The person facing the trial would be put in middle of the court facing two rooms. One room was a hungry lion and the other, a beautiful woman who the man will be immediately married with. The king said if the man is not guilty he will choose the correct room.
Before the Day of Judgment, the princess already found out which room was lion and which one was the lady. Finally, it arrived… the king and the royals sat on the seats above the two rooms looking at the knight. Jonathan looked at Sara and as he expected, she have found out the right room and was pointing him to it. There she lifts her finger… and point it to the left. The knight walked in.
As for what he find in the room is left to you. The princess Human yet barbaric … too barbaric to see he loved in the hand of a beautiful girl… take closer attention to woman’s jealousy. It is not an immoral feeling but one that come along with love. She was also too human to see her loved one being cruelly eaten by the hungry lion. Sacrifice is yet another feeling came along with love…. So dear reader… this answer I left for you to decide.

This is my friend Bads, Ladies and Gentlemen.
Hey man, you really make us travel through time. But this is rather harsh of you to make us be the judges

    The Wrong Right Left Door.

She only pointed to a door; he in the end chose a door. The judgement was his. In the end he died for messing with the Princess. He played above his station and in the end justice was done.

It is a moral story. It reminds me of a past relationship that haunts my present time in life. I think his guilty conscience and the jealously of the princess worked hand in hand. Jealousy is a bad invention. I have come to believe that to let the offending party live is the best revenge. There is enough in life to just let it go.

But being human sometimes it is hard to let go of jealousy. In the end I wonder what the princess gained? Under the veneer of her saying that her father the king had no court actually left it up to her to contrive a solution to her problem of jealousy. She had the power and scheming ability to ascertain the doors. She sent him to his fate with his willingness as his guide.

She did not know everything. She did not know that the knight loved her more than Marry. She saw that he had been with another but she had not seen his desire to be greater for her than for Marry.

But let us remember that the knight killed Marry too for no real reason. We reap what we sow. The knight killed Marry and then the princess led the knight to his slaughter. It is a story of evening the playing field. It is a sad story with an ending beyond contemplation and justice. It is hard justice. The guilty party died with some innocence. There was blood enough on all hands to go around.

In the end we kill what has loved us and are killed by what we love. Love is blind and its justice is a stab in the dark.

I no longer review stories by spelling and grammar since if you want them published, your editors will point out such things to you. I only listen with my ears and my heart as to what you write and I hear every word you write more with my emotions than I do with my intellect. I would guess from your writing that English is not your first language.

I heard your story and understood your twisted language and inept wording and found delight in your stumbling grammar and vocabulary. When this is so it makes me listen harder and read harder. This tale has left me feeling very disturbed. It is far too human. It is far too successful in describing the failings of human choices and conduct. It truly is about justice and racism.

I could go on and on but will end my comment here. I look forward to seeing if you have written other stories here. I would be very interested in spending some more time to read them.

Umm wow i must say i am really greatful for ur comment... n yes, english is not my first language ...i live in thailand and thai is eventually my first language, but i have always been intrested in english writing...i love how u read this story form intellectual and emotional perspective..i think u have truely understood the dept of this story. The reason i have made the princess a half barbarian is because..i think if time come to make decision...we all have barbarian blood in our veins...
I also think u r right about the door the princess point would be the lion's...but i guess we all have different openoins...urs and mine just matched..
lastly i would say...i really LOVE this line..
In the end we kill what has loved us and are killed by what we love. Love is blind and its justice is a stab in the dark.
ll NEVER forget it...thnx for ur GREATTT coment...

Interesting story. I found that it started out rather well, and held interest throughout. There are a few grammatical errors that slightly confuse the flow of certain sentences, and some fragmented sentences that could be expanded on(although, at times, fragmented sentences are great for getting out am emotional blast).

One thing I noticed was that you tend to type out the number, rather than spell it out(5 - five). Numbers, except for in dates and phone numbers, should be written out(unless they are some outrageous number like 29,294,374,674). Another thing I noticed was that the formatting of no lines between paragraphs made it hard to read at times.

With some proof reading and fine tuning of spelling/grammar/past vs present tense phrasing, this can become a rather good tale.

I enjoyed reading it, and hope to hear from you if you expand on the concept.
