Chapter 25 1

“We have approximately four miles to go. The plan is to close this portal permanently. The Anchynts have some allies that are going to attempt to close the portal linking the vampire realm to our own. We do not expect a battle against the vampires but I want you to be prepared. Now one of the Anchynts is going to close this portal, we are simply here to protect him if fighting ensues. Does everyone understand the plan?” the general said. 2

“Well this should be boring.” Sandrah whispered to Cheryl.
“I don’t think we should see each other any more.” Cheryl sighed as she turned away from a startled Sandrah. Sandrah took a deep breath and steadied herself. “Why? I thought you and I were doing well.” Sandrah choked.
“I care for you but I don’t see this going anywhere good. I think it’s time to break it off. We agreed nothing serious and to not get attached.” Cheryl whispered as she trudged along beside a broken woman.
“I can’t believe this. We haven’t even been technically dating. We’ve just been courting for a really long time. We’ve only slept together twice, well three times if you count that one night stand three years ago.” Sandrah said smiling at the memory of what too much vodka had brought about.
“That was fun.” smiled Cheryl.
“So why don’t we give it a real try. We should be home soon.” she suggested.
Cheryl paused and said, “One try that’s it. If it doesn’t work out then it’s over.”
“Good.” Sandrah said as she watched David trudge along, he looked like his mind was somewhere else. 3

“So what is up with you and Alison? You finally pop the question or what?” a man in his thirties asked David.
“Oh, Yeah” David responded as he fell back into reality. “She accepted. I am going to marry her as soon as I get back.” he told Dustin. David smiled and looked at Dustin. “I love her.”
“Good for you.” Dustin smiled. Dustin glanced around and saw the general in deep thought. “Do you know what happened to him?” he asked David.
“No, what?”
His sister was changed into one. She is the one that killed Carl. I guess he has vowed to kill her, set her free from the leeches and all.” he informed David.
“Gees that sucks.” he sighed. “No wonder he is such a dick.”4
