A promise.

"Ben, I don't think Master Jacen will be happy if he finds out we're messing with the StealthX's firing controls again..." Allana let her sentence trail out and stepped away from the cockpit to look up at the blue eyed, red hair, freckled face that had leaned over to grin down at her.
"Aw, come on, Allana." He ran a dirty hand through his hair, stopping for a second to scratch his scalp. "You know that it won't be long before we have to go back to the academy," Ben Skywalker jumped onto the landing pad and climb down to stand next to Allana.
As he neared the short, petite, brunette he could already feel herself shutting away from him in the force and he couldn't help but replace his grin with a frown.
"You're going to be like this forever, aren't you?"
Allana averted her gaze, "Like what, Ben?" She contended herself by staring a pile of brush that lay some yards away from them.
Ben put a hand on her face and slowly turned it towards him, "You know what I mean. You can't keep hiding from me. From us. It's not right, Allana, whatever happened in the past...we can help. You know my Dad is more than willing to."
She jerked her face away from him, tears stung her eyes from the recollection of this past conversation.
"It's not something I can control anymore, Ben. It's second nature." She turned and stared at him. "Your asking someone to stop doing something that is involuntary. That's like asking a Bothan to fly without wings!"
"Hey, hey," Ben moved back over to her and gathered her shaking form into his arms. "it's just-well..." He started blushing and Allana couldn't help but look up and give him a small smile.
"I know, Ben, and maybe one day..." She kissed him gently, "Maybe one day we'll both find out how to... rescue me... from this shadow." She laid her head on his chest.
"Until then. Just promise me something."
Ben buried his face on the top of her head, she smelled like sweet Duvay blossoms and even though he couldn't feel HER in the force, he could still understand what she was feeling.
"What's that, Allana?"
"Promise me you won't forget me when I am gone." With another kiss, this time on his cheek, Allana took off running into the misty jungles of Yavin 4.
He knew she wasn't going anywhere, he could feel it.
Ben sighed and bent down to wipe his hands off on a rag that lay next to his tools.
Ever since he had laid eyes on her, the very day she had shown up mysteriously at the academy, he had loved.
They had a strange connection in the force. Everyone else believed that she was just an orphan that had been left there by someone who didn't not know the significance of the large temple.
Of course, eventually, Allana had proved them wrong. After rescuing one of the younglings and revealing her force sensitivity, Jedi Masters Clighal, Kyp Durron and Corran Horn had every reason to believe that she was left outside the academy doors for the specific reason of being trained in the ways of the force and they petitioned her training to Master Skywalker, Ben's father.1

But, there was something strange about Allana. No matter how hard anyone tried, they couldn't sense HER in the force. They could easily read her feelings and intentions, but to see the girl herself in the eyes of the force was impossible.
Allana couldn't explain why but whenever she had close contact with anyone she immediately began to shut down and hide. 2

"A curse like that no one should live with." Ben knew it was his cousin, Jacen. He had heard him coming before the Jedi Master had left the academy.
"Hello, Jacen."
