By: Raoul Vicomte de Changy2
I had known Christine Daii practically all my life. We grew up together. And she spent almost every waking hour by my side, loving me... caring for me. Until that day... when her father took her away. 3
I guess it was really only a matter of time until he found out. I had a deep secret that only Christine knew. I was a vampire and I had only befriended Christine so I could drink her blood. But, yes, one day her father saw us. He caught me drinking the blood of his precious "Little Lottie." But it wasn't as if I was hurting her. She could not die from my manipulation... unless I let her die. And I would not let her die. But then he took her away from me and I could not bear to kill her. I hoped that maybe, someday, we would meet again and I could taste her sweet blood. 4
Some years later, when I was 19 years of age, I became the active patron of the Opera Populaire. At the time, they were rehearsing Hannibal. Opening night came and the stage was beautiful and brightly lit. Then, came the musical number Think of Me, performed by the leading soprano. The audience and I were in awe to see that it was not the famous Carlotta Giudicelli upon the stage, but some nobody, probably a lowly chorus girl. I looked at this child and saw that it was none other than my dear Christine. 5
She had grown so much since I had last seen her. She was no longer the delicate little girl on whom I had preyed, but now a blossoming beauty in the prime of womanhood. Christine sang with such amazing, feminine force and my mouth longed to caress her neck. I needed to drink her blood. 6
So, after the show had come to an end, I went calling at Miss Daii's dressing room door. 7
"My dear, Little Lottie," I called, remembering what her father had called her, "It is I, your Patron Raoul Vicomte de Changy, come to delight in your presence." 8
"Raoul!" She proclaimed, and swung open the great doors. "It is so good to see you again," then, sadly, remembering our departure all those years ago, "My father has... died. It was several years ago. No one knows quite how, but he was found with a dagger through his heart." 9
I knew how. I was the owner of that dagger. Yes, I, Raoul Vicomte de Changy, was the murderer of poor Monsieur Daii. But I had to do it... he took her away from me.10
Author notes
This part of the story from (I'm pretty sure) a completely new view of Raoul. I'm sorry if you're one of those people who loves Raoul. I know and agree that in the original and most versions of Phantom Raoul wasn't that horrible a guy. But I thought I'd change things ... a lot. So if you like it, cool. And if you don't, that's cool too... let me know what you think!
Please tell me what you think

I haven't read any of your other stories but i quite liked this, it was unusual. A different interpretation of a vampire story. I also love your names, not normal and plain, i like it. Slightly strange characters though but, really, that's what makes a good story.

Ohh, very cool.
Loved the final twist at the end.

Oh, this was nice. At first, I didn't completely understand until you mentioned 'Think of Me' and then everything clicked together with Christine and such. Good job! very interesting.

Yeah, this is cool. I ,love the way he has turned out to be the bad guy, I am not a big fan of him being the nice guy, lol. But I do love Phantom of the Opera. Lovely writing, and I love the way you have made it in first person. Kais x x

This was beautifully written, and the kick at the end! wow! Great job! I was easily captured by your words! I would love to read more! Thanks for posting!

I loved it. A way to look at Raoul unlike I had ever thought.

Wow, excellent. I liked the final twist. It was somewhat unexpected, but still easily believeable. My only question was: if he had found and killed her father, why hadn't he found her? I loved this piece, but perhaps you could expand on it, make it longer, like a proper story? More detail would make it better. Nice flow and good dialog, despite there being little. I really enjoyed this piece, keep it up!

This is a really interesting take on the Phantom of the Opera story. It sort of turns it on its head, making the hero the villian. An intriguing idea. Cool to combine the vampire legend with the Phantom of the Opera legend, two big horror heavyweights in one story, Very interesting idea.

WOW! I haven't seen phantom of the opera so this doesn't make a lot of sense to me, but it is very very good, a really nicely written piece!!
-
Um...perverted vampire? That's a new one! Edward and Bella negatives!
-
I honestly haven't seen Phantom of the Opera, so I don't really know much, but this is one of those situations where you can take anybody's side of the story.
-
Wahey, this is really really good! My favourite opera is definietly 'The Phantom of the Opera.' Got the LP, video, CD everything, lol. Anyway, I think this is a really interesting start to a story and I would love to read more on it!!!!!! Well Done! Kais =)

Pretty Good.
Hi. I think you should write more, because you have a really nice storyline here. I also think you could do really well in competitions. There is a group called Constantania run by my friend Tea3. It's a sort of vampire-lover group, and I reckon you'd do well in it. Just check it out because I think you'd fit in really well!

Well, I never read the original one, but I like this story, especially the ending. Great job!
