Inspired by Cartoons

1

2

There was once a time where I was completely obsessed with cartoons.  Don't get me wrong, I still am but not to the extent I once was.  3

Remember these guys?  The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles....4

5

I was super obsessed with them in third grade.  I drank the juice boxes, I had the backpack, action figures, I slept with Michealangelo (I still do occasionally), you name it I probably had it.  I even planned on becoming the fifth ninja turtle when I got old enough.  I was doing my Michealangelo impression when I fell off the monkey bars after school one day.  Bottom half of my two front teeth have been plastic ever since.6

In middle school I grew up a little.  I started doing impressions of Beavis and Butthead.  My family really loved that one.  At the same time, I started drawing.  Simple doodles; but in high school when I was called immature for watching cartoons a lot, I claimed that I was doing "research."  7

This story has no real point, but I sit here watching Ren and Stimpy (the dog and cat above) pondering days gone by.  So much time spent sitting in front of a colorfully flashing screen.  Some would say that was brain rotting.  Some who know me really well might not be suprised that I've spent that much time doing that.  I just miss the days of being easily amused by a "cheewawa" getting struck by lightning.

Cool story. I'm 13 years old and I obbsessed with something too. But its not a cartoon, Its Narnia. I'm a bit like the guy in the story; I own pretty much anything with the Narnia logo on it! Anyway, I liked the story! Great work!

  • Awe this was really cute! I know I don't want to grow up...but it's happening so fast . I remember when I was obsessed with Pokemon and Barbies and Powerpuff Girls...I miss the good ol' days!

Who wants to grow up, I know I don't. Where can I find me a map to neverland?

I loved how you talked about all the cartoons I remember so well from my youth.

Awwwwwww, cute. Really cute. I broke the bottom half of my front two teeth too! Admittedly that was diving into a swimming pool, not falling off monkey bars, but that isn't the point! Really nice piece, cute, short and to the point. Really sweet piece, gives the mind a break from the hugely deep and serious things. I love little pieces like this! Great job!

Arent we all?!! I loved Ren and Stimpy when I used to watch it. I wated it when they made them when I was little and now that I'm a bit older I see the inner message in their episodes. You can learn from cartoons! Keep up the good work and until next time,

    Soul

It was the Simpsons that got me back into cartoons. The Ren & Stimpy (Happy, happy, joy joy) came next. I still watch The Family Guy & American Dad. I'm an old fan of Rocky and Bullwinkle (and all the cartoons on that show. I've also read a great many of the world's classics but doubt there's as much of a difference as people may think. I also like pro wrestling...I make no apologies.

I carried Michealangelo everywhere. Parents brought me to school, he was in the car ride there. Took me to dance class, he went to class with me (well he waited in the car most of the time). LOL Now I have South Park stuff all over the place, including boxers. I'm wearing Spongbob pjs as we speak. I still wonder the "what if" when I go through the art displays. If I didn't question the drawing abilities and changed my mind about becoming an art major (my plan my sr year in high school). I miss spending most of my day doodling. Oh well, at least I'm doing what I'm good at right?

I stopped watching cartoons until I had my children. It is a necessity in raising children that the parent understand and know the cartoon characters so that there will be intelligent conversation at the dinner table.

Frankly, I never underwstood Ren and Stimpy, but the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles had a real agenda in life. All my children had a favorite one (even Katie), and I had to sit and watch with them.

This is so cute and brings back so many memories for me, Sweetie. Thanks for that walk down memory lane. Love, Patricia
