Oh! Oh dear me, you want to know about my life? I must say that I am quite honored to have such a chance, as to share my life story with you youngsters. Lets see now, when was I born, Oh yes, I remember now, it was the wonderful year of 1966, at a mint in Missouri, A rather cozy little place if you ask me. Much to my dismay, the first few months of my life were spent in a vault. How dismal! With absolutly no one to talk to, I began to examine my partners, who to my knowledge, I could have been spending the rest of my life with. Oh how that frightened me, those pennies, they were pure terrified of all the rest of us. The nickles were rather cretinous though if you ask me, taking it upon themselves to boss those poor, darling pennies around. Much to my amusement, the dimes in our group out smarted them, though I know now, most of which they threatened, does not exist in the real world. Other than myself, the Quarters were quite the snobs, believing themselves oh so much better than everyone else. Lucky for me though, after two months in that dreary place, much to my amazement, I was brought out of my 'home' and given to an old fellow with a graying head and square glasses.1
Placing me in his chest pocket, I sighed in relief, 'Finally I was in the real world'!Unfortunatly though, upon breathing in, I became quite faint, for this man stank something putrid. Little did I know that the horrid smell was my first taste of cigarette smoke. Upon arriving at his home, he handed me to a young girl, around the age of eight. She had the biggest blue eyes I have ever seen, and a smile so large as she held me to her chest, before carrying me to what I assumed to be her room. There I was greeted with a small bed made from a small baby doll's shoe, And was tucked in with a swath of cloth. Kissing me upon the head, she smiled and gave me my name such a pretty name at that, Lillian.2
The next morning I was awoken by the girl, who I learned was a girl by the name of Anna, who picked me up as gently as she could, and carried me over to her desk. Producing a black notebook from somewhere in the desk, she began writing in purple ink, my name at the top of the fresh page. I was simply delighted to see this, and even more delighted when she presented me with another Quarter -this one a tad bit on the quiet side, but much better than the snobby ones in the vault- to be my friend. Little did I know, that as of three O' clock that day, I was officially wed to the other Quarter, Who called himself Adam.3
This joy lasted about three years, until Anna grew older and began to grow tired of silly things as such as me, Not that I consider myself silly now, I am simply quoting the girl. I soon found myself placed within the pocket of her favorite pair of jeans, and being carried out the door.A pale slender hand slipped into her pocket, and I found myself being thrown on a rather dirty counter, the nerve of that child, spending me on a soda. But alas, I had no choice in the matter now did I? Almost as soon as I was out of a pocket though, I was back in one! Oh how I silently prayed that I wouldn't get passed from hand to hand for the rest of my life; Even the vault would be better than that!4
Much to my distaste I found myself on a counter within a few hours of my journey from the conveinent store, though I have to say this counter was much nicer, so I can not really complain. The girl at the counter smiled her fake flashy smile at the man, before allowing me to settle into her wallet. Now this was not exactly what I was hoping for out of my life, but it was comfy in here, and I was able to chat it up with a few other coins, I even met a few cousins of mine, though, they were not overly pleased to see what became of me. What can I say? Other than I am now happily placed within a childs piggy bank, appearntly the girl had a daughter, or is still stuck in her days of childhood. Though sometimes... I really do miss my Husband Adam, It was nice while it lasted.5
