Limping away from the town, he noticed a large mass of ligths hovering over a town. They seemed to be gathering all in one central area. he could not help but stop and look. Millions of tiny blue dots flew from seemingingly nowhere, slowing down neer the center before fusing with this large central mass. After only ten seconds, the combined dots were the size of a castle. Without warning, the huge mass seemed to send two beams from it self, one going strait up into to space, and one plumiting twords the earth. The beam grew longer, and consiquently, thinner. Before he could realise what was happening, it disapeared. He dare not say a word out loud. He just watched the aftermath, and tried to keep from crying. 1
He watched, for what seemed to him, for atleast an hour. He couldn't understand what had happened. Quickly, before he unknowingly grasped what happened, he remembered he was still set apart from his wife. He knew he must hurry.2
Running with his limp was the most painful thing he had ever experianced, he never let it bother him for a second. For he was strong, noble. and had mission. He knew he was almost outside of his little town, and inside the city.3
The further in he drew, the less damage was done. What should have been a sign of relife, greatly troubled him. If what happened to the other city, happened to his city, the inner city should have been wasted. Clearly there were two possibiltys. Either something differnt destroyed his town, or something sheilded the inner city.4
The town he was native too was leveled, most buildings burt to ash. The city, however, was still on somewhat controlable fire. If the surrounding citys sent fire engines or preformed water drops, everything could be saved. Yet, something else was a miss. There was no sound. No screams. No people. Where had they all gone? He didn't have time to think, he had to get to the store and find his family.5
He ran past the bar, past the clubs, past the mall. He was closing in. He could start to run now. Filled with adraline and painless he could continue on at a quick pace. Everysingle car seemed to have been dentinated by some sort of bomb. He started looking more closely at the cars. Running past all that he did not recognize.6
He found himself in the parking lot of the store. He took a a quick look and sotted his wife's car. "There!" he yelled to himself. He ran faster than he ever did before. The car was one of few that had not been destroyed. He checked inside and quickly saw that it was empty. He did, however notice a sign of hope. The store and other marketing buildings surounding the lot were lit up. Not like the rest of the dark city he had just been in. He started abrasibly walking twords the store with a grin on his face.7
"THERE!" some one shouted. He looked back and felt a small pain in his upper right shoulder. Without a sound, he passed out.8
