"Will! Will?" I was searching around the halls looking for will.... "Will hey, I have something to tell you!!" "Yea me too..." "You don't sound too happy" said Monique. "Well any way my mom said that if you want you are allowed to come up to the mountains with us!" "It sux Monique! I can't come... my mom can't get off and doesn't want me to go up with you alone" "grr... Well I’ll see when I get back, okay?" okay, see you! Write me back every day, Kay?" "Got it!" 2
As soon as I got to the mountains I got right out of the car with every thing I needed, boots, board, keys, suit case...everything. When I got inside, I saw this really hot blonde guy, standing out side of his door, at the end of my hall. I started to feel a little guilty, leaving will at home, and then next thing, I’m checking out some guy. Feeling out of place I quickly opened the door to my room. As I pushed the door opened I felt a rush of air that smelled so familiar. I always loved the smell of the condos we stayed in. That’s one off the things I always missed. The smell of fresh snow lying outside the window, the smell of meals the past visitors cooked, and the very familiar sound... of noisy children, above my condo, jumping on their beds. I glanced up at the ceiling and heard over and over, thunk, thunk, thunk. That’s the one thing I never.... ever missed. Eventually I ordered room service then fell asleep. 3
I woke up, quickly ate breakfast, slid my boots on and caught the first shuttle up to the mountain. As soon as I got there I waited in line to get my tickets then it was straight to the lift line for me. When I got in line this completely hot guy stood right next to me. Then I realized it was the guy from last night. "Hey! Hey, you’re that girl on my floor right? I've seen you before..." "Yea, hi" 4
That was about all we said, and then we got on the chair lift and talked a little more. But just mainly about our schools and our home and stuff. When we got to the top I met up with my parents, and he met up with his. I went down mouse trap, a blue, with my sister, it was amazing! There was terrain in the middle of it. I rode straight down riding towards the jump. I felt my board tilt up, I bent my knees, feeling the air rush through my hair. I flew through the air...I bent backwards, and then continued my flip, and landed with a thunk. A perfect back flip. I stopped at the bottom of the very same slope at the end of the day and decided to go back to the condo. 5
As I got in I saw the blonde guy again. I walked by him and he said" hey, I never did catch your name?" "Monique." “Hey Monique, I’m Todd" "......wassup" "nothing, just heading down to the pool" "cool, I might be there later, kinda tired...." "Kay, uh, see ya"6
I opened the door, shut it silently, I practically screamed inside. I leaned against the door and took a deep breath. Todd...Todd....hmm, I liked saying that name. Todd. I fell asleep for at least an hour or two until I heard the thunk, thunk, thunking above my head again. I went next door to hang out with my sister and talk to mom and dad. A little later we went out to dinner to some pizza place, "the pizza jerx?" said Monique, as her parents pulled into the parking lot. “What kind of name is that" said her sister Lexi. "At least its food" said Monique, "I mean, at least we aren't at one of those air bars for those people who have problems breathing up here" ".....right......" They all walked inside. "I’ll have a margarita, dry, with a slice of pepperoni pizza, please. Dinner was good but I couldn't stop thinking about Todd.7
I got back to my room and fell asleep. I woke up the next morning to a bunch of yelling and screaming coming from down the hall. I opened the door and saw Todd run out with a little blood on his arm. I decided not to ask when he told me to grab my board. We went over to the mountain together and rode up the same chair lift. As I got on I asked him "what happened with all that drama back there?" "My dad just gets a little angry sometimes, he can’t help it..." I saw him grasp his arm and look away from me. "So what run do you want to do?" I responded " how about...wild fire?" "Nah, it's icy" "how about something with some moguls?" "Sure, but I have no idea how to go over moguls... kind of embarrassing though, I can do a lot of other stuff though" “com’on, I’ll teach you!"<o

I slid off the lift and turned right. I looked at the sign that said devils launch….moguls! Noo!!!! I sat down and strapped my feet in, and then I went half way down to where the mogul’s started. Todd stopped and said”now when you get up close to them, either practice your turns around them or do them like they are jumps. Bend your knees going up them, and straiten them slightly when going off of them. Go it?” “Yea, okay, let’s see how I do…” I slid towards the bumps on the mountain, I saw one getting closer to me, I bent my knees, closed my eyes, and then straightened them. I opened my eyes. I had done it! Woohoo! Last time I tried to do moguls, I fell all the way down the mountain, and it hurt. SO that’s why I am so, so, so relieved. I looked back at Todd and he was coming down towards me and said, “That was great Monique! Really, for some one who sounded as …. Scared as you, that wasn’t bad, for a beginner. Now, for some one like me, I could do a lot better.” “Wanna bet?” “Yea, first one down the mountain wins, and gets a pizza tonight at the hotels pool, losers treat.” “Deal, wait, are you asking me out?” “If that’s what you want to call it” and Todd left me and started bobbing down the mountain up and off the moguls, I left to catch up to him. I finally got head and head with him and picked up a little speed, so I was in front of him. I finally got to the bottom before him. When I turned around to see where he was, I turned to find a pile of snow, in my face. “You looked a little hot, I thought after I let you win the race you needed to cool off. Haha, any way, I’ll meet up with you later, I’ve gotta go find my parents, see ya tonight Monique.” “Later Todd” <o ></o >

I went down a few more runs, and then went home. I was soo sore; I thought I might go down to the Jacuzzi. I changed in to my bathing suit, sadly it was the creepy blue two piece that mom always was bothering me to wear. I decided not to wear it. So I went to the pool in my tank top and shorts. When I got there I grabbed a key for the locker, grabbed a towel and hopped in the hot tub. When I got in I realized that some one was sitting in there with me, I looked across the steam floating up from the hot water, and said ”Todd! Hey, you were serious when you said that!” I was soo glad, I could feel a smile come across my face, I tried to hide it but when he came closer to me, to sit and talk, I stopped. “yea I was serious, I made sure my father was still up at the mountains when I came.” I saw a smile curl on his face. We sat there and talked a little about different things. Then we went back up stairs to play some pool. He beat me at that though. I always sucked at playing pool. The first time I played my dad told me the balls were little animals and they were extinct so if I hit them too hard they would die. I never got out of the bad habit of hitting them softly. I never forgave him, when I was ten I found out that they weren’t animals, I got soo mad at him. Because for 4 years he had been beating me at that game when I could have won! <o ></o >
