Waterfall

I pouted and ran away 1

Away from my family 2

Away from my problems3

Deep into the woods I ran 4

Not looking back 5

Or thinking about my actions6

I tripped on a rock 7

As I approached a mountain side8

I cried softly to myself9

I looked up 10

The sounds of rushing water11

Echoed in my ears12

As it continued spraying everywhere13

As it splashed into a pool below14

Which flowed into a stream15

That spread throughout the woods16

I smiled, rose up and looked around17

Admiring all the rocks 18

The blue moon19

The sparkling stars20

The crystal water21

Then a chill ran down my spine22

A feeling that I wasn’t alone23

I looked around24

My heart beating faster and faster25

As the feeling spread throughout me26

I began to shake with fear 27

Thinking of horror films28

A bear would come out and eat me29

Or a snake would bite me 30

A twig snapped above me31

And when my head jerked in that direction32

My eyes rested on the waterfall 33

I looked around cautiously 34

SNAP 35

Another twig broke loudly36

But this time, I saw a pair of blue eyes above me37

They stared down at me38

Oval shaped eyes with a welcoming gleam39

I stepped backwards once40

Afraid of what the eyes belonged to41

A paw appeared in the moonlight42

Dark and hairy43

Followed by another black paw44

Then a black nose45

With a pitch black dog-like head46

My eyes widened in horror47

As I realized that this was no black dog48

It was a black wolf49

Every part of me trembled50

As the wolf just stared down at me51

I sat down on a rock, waiting for it to leave52

However, instead of leaving53

The black wolf jumped down54

Then walked towards me55

My heart pounded faster and faster56

As is came nearer and nearer57

It was about an arms length away58

When it stopped in its tracks59

I gulped and stared at the wolf60

Out of nowhere, I held out my hand61

Hoping the wolf would act as a dog62

And lick my hand63

The wolf slightly growled64

And I swiftly pulled my hand back65

Closing my eyes and shivering66

I felt a smooth rub on my arm and looked up67

I saw the wolf’s dark blue eyes68

Staring straight into mine69

I lost myself for a while70

Feeling as if I was falling71

“Where are you?” My father called out to me72

I turned my head towards my father’s voice73

For only a split second74

Then when I looked back75

The wolf had disappeared76

My parents scolded me77

For running off78

While we got into the car79

I felt a surge run through my body80

And looked around81

When I didn’t see anything82

I shook my head and got into the car83

As we drove back to the city84

I looked around the trees85

At the squirrels and rabbits playing86

In the green grass87

I looked back at the mountain88

My eyes widened as I recognized a black figure89

The wolf90

It was standing there like a statue91

Its fur waved in the wind92

Then it gave a low howl as if to say goodbye93

I smiled and waved good bye94
