As Sarah slowly plopped to the kitchen floor emotions swirled around her, loudly blocking everything else but herself and her previous words from her mind. 2

Why did I do that? What did I do to deserve any of this?? It's all his fault, not mine...if he hadn't come over here to begin with none of it would have happened. God, he's so annoying, it's his fault...mom I wish you were here....3

Deciding to get up off the floor and quit wallowing in anger and self pity, Sarah got up and went upstairs to her bedroom falling into a deep slumber. 5

Walking the short distance home, Matt re-entered the home and went to the kitchen. His dad was on a business trip in Chicago and his mom worked late at the hospital. He would visit her after school most days, but today was a Sunday and he went over to Sarah's for most of the day. 7

What a waste that had been....Matt thought with builing anger as he remembered what Sarah had suddenly told him.8

'GET OUT NOW!' Was all Matt could hear in his head as he got some whole milk out of the refrigerator to find the carton was empty.9

Great, that's great.10

Not able to form thoughts he went to the phone and called his girlfriend whom he had almost been forced to date even though he had feelings for Sarah.12

"Hi is Lindy there?" 13

"No is this Matt?" 14

"Yes?"15

"She said to meet her at Peter's house if you could, I think they're studying with a couple of friends"16

"Oh, OK. Thanks"17

After hanging up with Mrs. Hogan he went back to the refrigerator to see what else there was to drink.18

Deciding upon some orange juice he grabbed a cup and went to the table to sort out his thoughts.19

Before doing that he left, orange juice and cup still on the kitchen table, and left for Peter's house.20

"Hey is Lindy here?" Matt asked when Peter came to the door. Peter and Matt had known each other for most of their school lives, but were more acquaintances than friends.21

"Yeah sure, come in"22

Looking around the room Matt was immediately fond of the room. It had a laid back cozy atmosphere that was extremely welcoming and very comfortable. 23

After looking at his surroundings, he turned to the people who had been 'studying' as Mrs. Hogan called it.24

Red and white plastic cups lay around the coffee table and the stereo was turned up. About 15 people were at Peter's house having a small 'study' party.25

Seeing Lindy he asked to talk to her for a minute in private.26

"Yeah sure babe" She said slurring her words a bit and a Little tip-silly walking with Matt to the other end of the room.27

"How many of those have you had?" Matt asked looking at the red plastic cup that was situated comfortably in her left hand.28

"I don't know" She said half hearted-ly.29

"I can't do this anymore Lin, I think we need to spend some time apart for now...I'm sorry" Matt said slowly.30

"Ha ha, I swear I thought you just said you were breaking up with me" She said immediately sobering up.31

"I did, I'm  sorry. I just can't deal with any of this right now" He said looking apologetically into her eyes.32

"Fine, leave" She said turning away from him and going back to her study partners.33

Second time I've heard that tonight.... 34
