From graceful lilies pure and white,2
God fashioned lovely skin,3
Figments he chose for eyes,4
Then formed your baby chin.5
He took a tulip bright and red --6
'Twas one that did not fade;7
A softer, sweeter little mouth8
Before was never made.9
Another flower next He used --10
A rosebud, pink and fair;11
Touched it to your dimpled cheeks12
And bade it blossom there.13
Then with His magic fingers picked14
Two morning glories white;15
Curled and shaped your little ears,16
Soon they were fastened tight.17
That crowning bit of golden down18
Will soon become your hair;19
He gathered pollen from the flowers,20
And sprinkled it with care.21
For dainty little fingers dear22
And precious, tiny toes,23
He used slender daisy frills;24
A snowdrop made your nose.25
This world and all within it26
He created here for man;27
But Baby was "God's Masterpiece"28
Since time and life began!29
