An Epiphany for Agnes

A Tale of the Charles Fort General Hospital1

"It's true: we're a much regarded medical institution,' answered Dr. Silvio, while he was walking with the beginner Dr. Flavia along the psychiatric section of the Charles Fort Hospital, 'but, do you know what I really love in this job? The strangest patients end coming down here".2

"Pardon?" asked Flavia.3

"Look at this: Agnes Whitehill, from London. Her family never asked for the extradition. She wasted his life chasing wackiness like UFOS and ETs. Ten years ago, she'd got a collapse and she woke no more. Only God knows what happened... And I'd love to find. Let' go. There're more 'bizarreness' to be shown for you."4

Ten years ago... Agnes' mind:5

"At last, I am before them... They are Gigantic... Powerful... Perfect...Their light... Too intense... Burning my mind... My soul..."6

  • Wow, this is peculiar but a nice beginning. The ending was very suspensful, but I would like more of a build-up on the scene and characters. It's obvious this is some kind of hospital but why do they get the "strangest patients"? What sort of place is it? If Agnes was there ten years ago, what sort of patients are there now? Who is the mysterious doctor? You've left a bit much up to the reader to guess at, though maybe you intended to answer it in the next part? Anyway, good job keep writing!
