“So, how did the meeting go? Did you guys make an agreement?” Elizabeth anxiously asked as she wrung her calloused hands. 3

“We came to an agreement. There will be open trade and they will provide us with aid in our fight against the vampires. They have a vaccine and a way to weld the portals. It seems that the meeting you and their President had made a difference. He has made a request that while we travel to the portals that Miranda, Eric, and you stay here and work with his team to decide the details in our import export agreement.” the General informed her. She looked at him half pleased she had convinced him and the other half worried about being there alone. 4

“Yes sir. I believe Miranda and Eric will be pleased to hear they can stay a bit longer.” she told him. 5

“Good.” he said as he turned sharply and walked to the dinning hall. 6

“Wow, I can’t believe I’m staying.” she whispered. 7

“Staying here?” Eric asked as he walked out of her room with his shirt buttoned improperly. 8

“Miranda will fill you in later.” Elizabeth laughed as she pushed passed him to tell Miranda the news.9

“Get your clothes on. I got some news. We’re staying for a bit longer.” Elizabeth informed Miranda, who was pulling up her pants.   10

“What? Why?” questioned Miranda. 11

“I thought you’d be excited.” Elizabeth paused. 12

“Well, scientifically this is great news, but I was missing home. We haven’t been there in six months. To us it feels like only three months but if my calculations are right it has been six.” Miranda divulged, worry evident on her face. 13

“I know, I did the calculations too, but we could do so much here. You and Eric can study the wildlife like you wanted. This would also be a good way to show these people some respectable humans so their infidel pictures of us go away.” said Elizabeth hoping to convince Miranda like she had convinced herself.  14

“Yeah, I guess your right. Maybe I can find out how those showers work.” she sighed attempting to see the bright side. Miranda looked at herself in the mirror and grabbed her id; “I am going to go tell Eric our news.” she smiled. 15

“Well hurry back, we need to get ready to say good bye to the troops. They are going with some of Yerix’s men and some gypsies to close the portals.” Elizabeth told her. 16

“Okay, see you in about fifteen.” she replied. Miranda left and Elizabeth plopped down on her bed. “I hope the troops don’t run into any trouble.”17
