Crush the World in Paradox (Long Live the Lingerers! III)

Oh, the lingering peoples of the Other's mind...1

Will they ever realize their great flaw? It's the Other's fault. He refuses to expose them to the outside world. He refuses to flaunt the inside world. What a sight would that be! People would line up and clog city blocks! Waiting hours to see an advanced civilization trapped in the translucent head of an unconventional genius, I would do it. Just unscrew the bolt and flip the latch, Other. Expose the Lingerers! If they knew it existed, your internal peoples would be clamoring to escape.2

But I realize now why you keep them inside. I now see why they are hidden from the real world's race. They hold compelling powers, well, compelling to people who philosophize. The philosophical society is immune to this ability unrecognized by the Lingerers, while if the rest of the world were exposed, they would suffer a similar fate to the Other's others. Mankind would collapse to its knees and cover its ears in horror. 3

Why? The Lingerers. No, they are not a malicious folk, but they are oblivious to their potency. They ask an unanswerable question and crush the world in paradox.4

Author notes

It's a narrative of sorts expanding somewhat on the ideas of the previous Long Live the Lingerers! piece.
