a loving haircut

Something was bugging me- my hair. And my mother noticed it before I could say it. 1

"Umm.. I want to curl your hair."2

Surprised... I said "Yeah"3

And so she started curling my hair. It felt good. I loved how she spent the time to curl locks of my hair and it felt so good. I love being touched, hugged... I especially like getting a haircut and it has been about 6 months or 9 months...4

When she was done, my already thick lioness long hair puffed out.5

"Umm... Will you let me cut your hair?" 6

I said yes and she smiled really wide. I washed my hair and sat down. And she ran her hands through my hair, playing with a couple locks my hair. I felt like the 7 years of girlhood I missed out on letting Mom braid my hair, curl it, or play with it.. All that motherly love... care and affection made me feel special... and really girly and blessed to be her daughter.7

She massaged my scalp and played with my hair. Warm and fuzzies... Then she began to cut my hair.8

There were so many questions I wanted to ask her. How do you curl your hair? Can you give me tips on dating? Teach me about the Bible. What's it like to be a woman? How did you feel when you were my age and where were you? Can you teach me how to sew? Why didn't you braid my hair?  Why are you taking such care in cutting my hair? How come you didn't cut my hair like this before when i was 3? Why and what is this feeling? How come I feel confused? Why do you love me? WHY DON'T guys want to date me? Why am I different from everyone else?9

Trust. Love. I just felt loved as she cut my hair. 10
