The Wheelchair

.1

“I’m sorry, sir. You already paid, the wheelchair is yours. No refunds, no returns.”2

“He doesn’t need it anymore,” Greg said, even as he signed the slip of paper. 3

The two men watched in silence as the Hospice nurses –true angels, Greg thought – left the room, followed by the wheeled stretcher carrying his father’s corpse. 4

Author notes

This is a nanofiction, or 55 word story. It's exactly 55 words. The inspiration came from an ad in the paper, selling a wheelchair that was never used.

  • Well, I think this was a pretty good nanofiction. Not that I've read many. Still, you made an interesting story out of a newspaper add.

    Great job and keep writing!

    Hooray Nanofiction!

But the last sentence, –true angels, Greg thought – left the room, wouldn't the hyphen read better as a semicolon?
