Out Ta Get Me (Part 2)

Bill's eyes opened as the warm sun hit his face.  He squinted and looked around the alley to see a few cats and a blackbird.  He rubbed his eyes and shook his head, slightly confused as to why the sun was up.1

He pulled himself to his feet and yawned.  He felt a little dizzy but it was probably just from standing up so fast.2

An orange tabby with stripes brushed past his leg, making him jump.  He sighed as he looked down at the little animal as it wandered across the pavement.  It just looked so innocent. 3

He smirked and reached into his jacket pocket for his .45.  He slid it out gently and clicked off the safety, pulled down the hammer, and aimed it at the back of the cat's head.  He was about to blow its little kitty brains out when he heard a yowl.  4

It startled him and he spun around.  There, on top of a garbage can, was a jet black cat with burning yellow eyes and white whiskers and fangs.  The cat stared into Bill's green eyes, striking fear into the skinny little hobo.  5

It then turned to watch something on the ground.  Bill looked to where it was looking and saw the blackbird, non-chalantly picking up crumbs of some sort.   6

Bill looked back up at the cat and saw it preparing to attack.  It got low and then sprang, with full force, at the bird and caught it with it's razor claws and fangs.  The bird let out one shriek and it was dead.7

Bill's heart ached, all of the sudden.  The scene was terribly grusome as the cat teared at the blackbird, ripping his wings off as blood dripped onto the pavement.8

He aimed the gun for the head of the black cat, he suddenly felt he needed to avenge the death of the bird.  The cat looked into his eyes as Bill pulled the trigger.  The bullet flew from the barrel and right through the cat's head, entering between the eyes and exiting the back of it's little skull. Blood splattered everywhere. There was no sound except the sound of the gunshot.9

Its corpse fell dead to the ground and Bill smiled.  He turned to see the other cat, running wildly.  Bill aimed and fired, hitting it in the side and killing it as well.  Again, a smile crossed his face.  He clicked the safety on and slid it back in his jacket.10

"Well I suppose you think you've done well now, Billy," the voice commented, "You think you've rid the world of the bad. A favor to society."11

Cold chills went down Bill's spine as the figure appeared.12

"Well, I hate to burst your bubble but there are hundreds of cats and hundreds of birds," the figure told him, "And besides, no one cares."13

"I didn't do it for redemption," Bill corrected, his eyes burning into the figure's, "I did it because it's fun."14

"Then why won't you kill them?" the figure questioned.15

"Get away from me!" Bill ordered, "What the hell do you want anyways?"16

"Only to better you," the figure replied.17

"GO AWAY!" Bill screamed as he took off running out of the alley.  He could hear the figure laughing but he didn't seem to be following.18

He ran down to the riverbanks and stopped.  He was panting heavily and his chest burned.  He could hear all the voices laughing at him, taunting him, and berating him.19

Bill dropped to his knees and screamed up at the sky, "WHY? WHY THE HELL AM I LIKE THIS?"20

He glared up into the heavens but got no reply.21

"You did this to me," he growled, "You did this.  You made me wrong.  You made my ears hear things they shouldn't.  The voices from hell!  They attack me, and you do nothing."  He curled his hands into tight fists and snarled, "You don't even care, do you? You don't care if they get me.  You never cared.  Made me wrong and left me to die."22

He began to smirk and laugh, not knowing why, as the sky grew black with rain clouds.  Nothing was funny here, but still he carried on.  He jumped to his feet and laughed manically as he walked down the street.23

The clouds burst and rain pored onto him as he continued down the street.  He fell to his knees again, but this time hysterical with laughter.  24

God made him wrong.  He let his ears hear hell's chants and cries.  He left him there  to rot on these streets. 25

It wasn't a good thing but right now, to Bill, it was just so damned funny.26
