Selene (Chapter Two)

Years went by and she kept getting older and older. Year after year Selena was a bit cautious as to why she wasn’t aging one bit. She was 30 at the time and she still looked like she was in her teens. She went to apply for a job and they laughed at her when she showed her id that said she was 30. She ran out and as that happened the guy in the door screamed and she stopped short and stared out into space as the guy was screaming and yelling “get out of my head, get out of my head”. Once he died she came out of the semi coma she was in and then scared at what happened she ran out as fast as she could home. 1

Once she got home she called for her mother as she was hysterically crying.  Mel came in and asked her daughter what was the matter. “I got denied a job because I looked to young and I spaced out again like last week.” She hugged her mother tightly crying still and her mother looked at her knowing she needed to tell her daughter the reason as to why this was going on. “Sweety come here with me. I have to tell you something.” They walked over to the couch and both sat down. Selena looked at her mother a bit concerned as to why she was a bit jittery. 2

“Mom what’s the matter. You seem a bit out of place. Did I do something wrong?” Melanie’s head was starting to bother her but because she used to be immortal she was able to block it all out. “My child I am sorry for lying to you all these years. We need to have a talk.” Selena looked at her mother worried about what might happen and she looked around scared. “Selena calm down ok. When you were 6 months old a friend of mine by the name of Zaros came to my door with a bundle. It was this little child and she was the cutest thing in the world with the most angelic face you ever saw. It was you my child and he asked me to watch out for you because there were people after your father. You belong to the immortals of this world. I was one of them but I gave it up to be with my husband.” 3

Selena looked at Melanie in disbelief with what she said. “No you’re lying. This isn’t happening.” Selena started to look around and her mind was racing and things started to break which made things even worse. “Selena control yourself. You are an immortal and human. Your mother was human which is why your father wanted to keep you here. Now please stop you mind is causing all of this and all you need to do is calm down.” Selena looked at her and anger and with that Mel fell to the floor holding onto her head and asking for it to stop. In fear Selena ran off and never looked back. Mel tried to get her but she couldn’t catch up. Mel called Mike and told her what happened and both of them decided it best to let her go right now. 4

Selena ran as long and as hard as she could and then she stopped and went into hiding not sure what was happening and what she should do. She cried all night long and looked up at the sky right before screaming as loud as she could to get what Melanie said out. She sat there day in and day out staring out into space hearing over n over what Melanie had said. One night it started to rain and Selena tried to get up and as she did she collapsed from lack of food and water. Since she was part mortal her body was giving out on her. She laid there in the cold and after a few days Mike had found her and brought her straight to the hospital to get medical attention. She was in a comma for 3 months with her eyes still open as though her body forced herself into it out of sadness and distrust. 5

When she woke up in the hospital glasses had broken in the room. She sat up and looked around wondering where she was and why she was hooked up to a machine. She saw Melanie outside the room and started to tear up at what had happened. Melanie came in when she saw Selena up and gave her a hug not caring what might happen. “God I am so glad you are safe. I worried about you so much.” Selena hugged her back and said, “I love you so much mom and I am so sorry. I understand why you hid that from me but I must find him.” Mel smiled and gave her a ticket for the galactic train to the Nero Galleria. “Here, the people will help you locate your father. Just tell them who you seek and why.“6

The next day she got out of the hospital and met her parents outside. Melanie was upset to let her girl go but deep inside she knew it was time for Selena to know who her true parents were. Mike went to Selena and gave her a hug saying, “I love you my child and no matter what you will always have home here to turn to and don’t hesitate to give us a call or visit.” She smiled hugging him tight and told him she would be careful. 7

Melanie drove Selena to the train station and waited with her till her train came. Melanie stayed quiet the whole time just thinking about the past and worried about what might happen later on. Selena turned to her, “Please don’t worry mother. I will be ok and I promise to take care of myself if I have any problems I will call you.” “Oh my,” she said tearing up. “You are so big now and no matter what you will always be my little angel. I love you and I will be up there if you need anything.” 8

With that the train had arrived and both of them hugged each other twice. Selena got onto the train waving at her mother then walked over to her seat and sat down. She held onto her bag tightly a bit scared and at the same time anxious. The train took off at a fast speed which worried Selena and instinct kicked in where she held on tight to the arms. 9

Then a person came in walking around and right away noticed Selena and smiled. He was about 6’0 with dark hair and dark silver eyes. Selena couldn’t stop staring at his eyes and she smiled back in a shy way. He sat next to her and said “Hello miss. My name is Eric Naros Antioch. But most people just call me Eric.” She smiled again staring into his eyes before blinking and looking down for a moment. “M-my name is Selena. I’m Delighted to meet you.” He laughed a moment at how proper she was being. They talked a bit about the weather and then he asked, “So why is it a beauty like you is on a train. You look so young.” 10

“If you must know I am 30 years old. I am an immortal so naturally I look the way I look. I am going to go find my father since he left me when I was young to a friend of his who lost her immortality in order to be with a mortal.” He smiled as though he sensed something and she looked at him as she started to hear voices. “I am an immortal as well. I have the gift to read peoples minds and also talk to people like this. Don’t worry I only use this gift when I need to so your safe.” 11

She looked at him wide eyed at that and didn’t know how to answer that. Suddenly the train stopped pushing her forward a bit. “Well this is my stop. Hope to see you again.” “Of course Selena I hope to see each other again. I have a couple more stops since I have meetings. I will see you again.” She grabbed her bag and walked off the train waving at him before going to the ticket booth to ask for directions to the Great Hall in town. 12

Once she got the directions she caught a bus looking around feeling all the eyes on her. She noticed people working in offices that looked younger then her and knew she was where she was meant to be and smiled gently as the sun hit her hair in a way that made it look like pure gold. As she approached the street she asked the bus to stop and she got off gently making sure she had all of her stuff with her. 13

She walked towards the Hall slowly not sure of what to do or say. She was awe struck at the size of the building. A man watching the door opened the door for her and she smiled thanking him while she passed through the door. In the room were columns made of pure gold and blue marble flooring. The people were seated at surprisingly large red oak desks with computers on top of them. Everyone looked the same as they worked in uniform and it scared her a bit.14

Suddenly a man flied past her catching her off guard a bit and figured it was a power or something. She then walked up to the main desk and asked to speak with someone. A rather tall man showed up and he was wearing some kind of military uniform which frightened her. 15

“What can I do for you miss? My name is Sergeant Edwick.” He took out a piece of paper and wrote a few things before looking up at her waiting for her to answer. “my name is Selena and I am looking for someone by the name of Zaros.” His jaw practically dropped at this point and he quickly got out from behind the desk and grabbed her arm pulling her with him and he went through a door to a room behind then Hall. “Wait where are you taking me! Let me go.” She starts to struggle against the man and the man lets go feeling her head become compressed. “I am not going to hurt you.” She tries to calm down as he gets up feeling his head return to normal.16

“Now just stay calm. Nothing will happen to you. I need to know where you got that name.” She nodded listening to him and said “My name is Selena like I said and I am in search of my father Zaros. His friend Melanie was taking care of me for him.” The man walked over to a phone and dialed a number then said a word before coming back. “I will take you to him. Melanie was a well known fighter and I knew her well. While we go you must not speak unless you can use your mind. Understand this is something someone so young shouldn’t have to face.”17

She said alright to him and they both went off to a type of car that flied through space that was blue and had a good acceleration state. This ride took a couple of days and once they got there Selena looks out and wondered, “What have I gotten myself into.”…18
