storyline of Selene (chapter 1)

In the year 1275 there lived a slave girl who used to work and pray hoping to get out of the place she was in. One day Selene ran into a man by the name of Zaros who was an immortal. Both of them fell in love instantly. After 6 months of dating Zaros asked for Selene’s hand in marriage despite the risks. 1

They had a child but something happened. While Zaros was on a mission his wife and daughter were kidnapped. He searched for them both for about 3 months with little hope. Then a man come to his home and told him the where about of the kidnapper. When getting to the location the killer was no where to be found but he found his wife tied to a bed and killed. His 6 month old was on the floor barely breathing. He took her into his arms and used his healing powers to help her. Zaros looked into her soft eyes and said, “My dear child you look as beautiful as your mother. I shall call you Selena in memory of your mother. Some day you will learn your identity and what you are. For now I must place you in the care of a good friend of mine that cannot bare a child of her own.” 2

With that he took the little girl to the home of his friend and knocked on the door gently. A young woman answered the door that was about 20 or so and looked a bit shocked at seeing him but smiled. “Why hello Zaros,” she said, “what are you doing here?” He smiled and said, “hello Melanie, it has been a while since I last saw you. Can I come in I must ask you for a favor.” She guided him through the house and both sat on the leather couch. There was a moment of silence before Zaros took the little girl out from under his jacket. Melanie’s eyes grew wider seeing the infant and said, “Zaros what are you doing with a child?” He smiles and told her, “this baby if my daughter Selena. Her mother was killed recently and she deserves to be raised in a loving home with a mother and father. I cannot do that with the job I have and I don’t want anything to happen to her. Since I know you decided to revoke your immortality so you could be with a mortal I would much like it if you took care of my child and raised her as your own. Some day she will question her past but for now keep it hidden and save.” 3

Melanie smiled big and before she could say anything her husband walked in. “Zaros this is my husband Michael. Michael this is Zaros. He is a dear friend of mine from the outer regions and has asked us if we could take care of his child.” Michael and Zaros shook hands and smiled at one another. Michael was questioning this and said, “are you sure this is what you want to do hun. I mean she is immortal and will wonder why we age and she doesn’t.” Zaros interrupted Michael and mentioned how when the time is right they can tell her who she is. “I don’t want either of you to hide her past but while she’s growing up I think its best you do in order to keep her from looking for me. There are people in this world that want me dead and I don’t want to put her in risk especially since she is part mortal. I come to you two because I can trust you to provide a good home for her and to love her as she was your own.” 4

Michael and Melanie agreed to take Selena in as there own. Zaros gave his daughter a gently kiss and placed her into the arms of Melanie. He handed his daughter to Melanie as a tear rolled down his face. He smiled and thanked them for what they were doing and then walked out of the house. Michael and Melanie smiled and looked at the baby and brought her into the kitchen to feed her some milk. Melanie then brought Selena upstairs and made a cradle out of pillows and placed her into the middle and watched her as she slept peacefully. When she went out of them room there was music playing out of no where but it didn’t bother Melanie because she knew immortals all have special powers based on there parents and the days they are born on. 5

The next day Mel and Mike started to raise Selena as there own little girl and as a regular human ignoring her powers in order for her to not question early what’s wrong and also so know one would have a reason to make fun of her in school. From here on out the world Melanie and Mike knew would be changed forever as the child they cared for grew up...6
