The Scene~ Chapter Eight

We had been on the road for almost 2 days stopping in at parks car parks for quick sleeps. Stephanie and I had the van to ourselves when Cody would go with Joey at night and Tony he liked to sleep outdoors. We would wait until everyone was asleep we would make love. 1

It wasn’t until the Wednesday that we arrived in Sydney King’s Cross. Stephanie and I were sitting in the back with Cody while Tony drove. 2

“So this is the cross?” Stephanie said looking out the back windows. 3

“Yeah but don’t let all the bright lights and buildings fool ya this place is a shit hole.” Cody said. I couldn’t have said it better myself.4

“Where are we staying tonight?” She asked giving me a hug.5

“Joey has a mate that is interested in all the stuff, so we can crash there until we find somewhere else to stay.” Cody said. 6

“You seem real quiet today Corey. What’s up?” Cody asked turning her attention to me. 7

“I just don’t think it is a good idea being back here. I mean we have not really let this die down. They could be looking for us right now.” I said. 8

“Don’t worry dude we are going to be alright. We just got to keep a low profile. This is the safest place for us to be we have a lot of places we can hide and its easy money up here bro easy money.” Tony said. 9

I sat back and hugged Stephanie into me tight.10

“How easy?” I asked.11

“Well Joey knows a lot of people up here, a lot of dealers and they have heard a lot about us. If we do things for them they will do things for us.” 12

“What kind of things?” Stephanie asked.13

“They will offer us protection, drugs, hell anything we want as long as we do our part.” Cody said. 14

“Our part? Meaning what exactly?” I cut in. 15

“Taking care of the people on tic you know.” Tony said.16

“There are a lot of gangs around here why us?” I said not buying into it.17

“Yeah and that’s the problem, they are all full of shit. These pussies, fight for turf and reputation. We do it to get by, cos we have to. They respect that.” He said.18

Stephanie looked frightened and I hugged into her.19

“Relax Steph there is nothing to worry about, and even if there was I am sure Corey would not let anyone hurt you.” Cody smiled at Steph.20

Stephanie looked up at me and asked: “Would you do that for me honey?”21

“I have no idea what the hell Cody is going on about. I would run like a little bitch.” I smiled. 22

Tony cracked up laughing and Stephanie smiled.23

“Prick” She laughed and elbowed me in the chest.24

I grabbed her and said: “You see I don’t have to worry about this one she can take care of her own.”25

“You are going to be sorry you said that.” She smiled. 26

“I already am.” I laughed and rubbed my chest. 27

“You think that is bad we’ll see how much it hurts when you have to spend the rest of your life having sex with your hand.” She teased.28

I went a bright red and Tony began to laugh harder again.29

“So I take it you two are having sex often then huh?” Cody asked with a smile.30

“None of your business.” I said. 31

“Well according to Steph here man, you are out of business.” Tony laughed and Cody joined in laughing with him. 32

“I think that’s enough man, look how red he is.” She laughed. 33

Stephanie kissed my cheek and laid her head on my shoulder as we pulled into this factory.34

“What are we doing here?” I asked.35

“This is the drop off, we get paid for all the shit we have. Not safe to carry it around much longer.” He said getting out of the van.36

I looked out the window and saw Joey and Tony talking to a guy that didn’t look like he could be trusted. But he seemed to be real friendly with Joey. They came over to the van and opened the back doors.37

The bloke looked at all the stuff.38

“Where did u you get this shop or house?” He finally said. 39

“My cousins house.” He said and pointed over at Stephanie. 40

“A rich girl huh?” He said and smiled at her.41

“My step dad is.” She said.42

“This isn’t his van is it?” He asked. 43

“Yeah it is Why?” she asked. 44

“Are you kids fucking stupid? The cops will be looking for this, that’s if they haven’t followed you here!” He yelled.45

“No her parents don’t get back for 3 weeks, they don’t know its gone, it gives you plenty of time to change it over.” Joey said.46

“Your lucky kid but you should be more careful next time. Most guys around here wouldn’t have been as calm as I am. They would have punched first asked later.” He said looking at the stuff. “I’ll give you 6 grand for the lot.” He added.47

“You’re fucking joking right? There is over 15,000 worth off stuff here! I’m no kid. I know what it’s worth.” Joey spat.48

“It’s stolen kid. If you can find someone that can give you a better deal than take it.” He said. 49

“Look I will. I know what its worth stolen or not.” Joey said not backing down. 50

“I said take it or leave it.” He said.51

“Well you can shove it man. I know what its worth and the money you could make from this shit. So see ya round.” Joey said. 52

“You got balls kid. How much are you looking at trading for?” He asked. 53

I think this man started to take him more seriously. He respected Joey for standing up to him and in the end it would be beneficial to us. I was a bit worried. I mean Joey could have got us all hurt or killed for talking to him like that. But it paid off.54

“7,500 and you can take it.” Joey said taking a breath.55

“Anyone else and I would say go fuck yourself, but you got balls kid like I said. Deal.” He said.56

“You said we have a place to stay too?” He said.57

“Three blocks away. It is empty condemned now, for triple murder.” He said. “Smells pretty bad, but you can’t expect the royal treatment.” He added.58

“We’ll take it, it will be fine. Just remember if you hear anything on the street about us, to call.” Joey said.59

“Sure thing, I have to protect my new best thieves”. He said. 60
