Unwanted Friend and Darkened Skies (Part 1)

It was a dark night, and yet, the moon gave a pale light. 1

Pale light that illuminated the path just enough so she could see where she was going. Alice ran for her life through darkened alleys, looking behind her. So many thoughts ran through her mind. He was after her, but why? What did she ever do to that man? Who was he? Passing around another corner, she trips, and her life -no matter how pathetic it may have been- passes before her eyes, and how she got here in the first place... 2

It was a warm autumn day as Alice got up from her bed, everything was going great in her new life. From starting a new job and moving to the busy city of Atlanta. 3

"Such a beautiful day," Alice said as she opened the balcony door to her one bedroom apartment. "This is a great start to my new life."4

Alice walked back into her room, grabbed her bathrobe, and then, she walked towards the kitchen. "So what will we have for breakfast today, Felix," Alice asked the spotted black kitten that rubbed around her ankles. Pouring some milk into a small saucer for Felix and getting herself some orange juice, Alice then walks to the bathroom to run a nice hot bath. Carefully, she gets out and wraps a towel around her body, and walks back to her room with Felix following behind her. 5

"What am I going to wear to work?" 6

Alice works at a gothic clothing store, even though she was not gothic herself. Her ghostly pale skin and mid back raven black hair helped in getting the job. 7

Looking into the mirror and seeing turquoise blue eyes staring back at her, Alice takes the towel from her hair and starts getting ready as she reaches for her cross pendant necklace. It was not on the stand where she left it before getting in the tub. Maybe it fell behind the stand, but she has no time to look for it now. After sometime, Alice stands in front of the mirror once again looking herself up and down. Her long black hair was pulled half back and in curls, she was wearing a black and white stripped halter top and deep blue jeans with white stitching. Sitting on her bed, she zips up her leather combat boots and makes her way out the door to the bus stop. 8

In was early afternoon and still a lot of people were on the move, jumping on the right bus Alice was on her way to her new job. Today felt different to her, it almost felt like she was being watched. Getting of the bus she looks around and then hurried to her job. Once there, she was confronted with a man in his early thirties. 9

"Alice I need you to work later tonight; one of the girls called in sick," the man said. 10

"Ok," Alice told him as she placed her name tag on. 11

She worked nonstop, eating lunch on the go; this was a very busy day. As she straightened up the shelves, she heard a noise; it was coming from the back of the store. 12

Slowing moving some books to look through the shelf, a man stepped out in front of her. Alice jumped back, this made her lose the grip on the books she was carrying. The man quickly apologized and went straight out the door. 13

It was now 10:30 at night as Alice hummed her way to the door, she was working seven hours that day. Once outside and locking the store door, the cold night wind hits her body hard causing her to shake. 14

Alice had a ten minute walk to the bus stop, keeping to the well lit paths of the street, Alice was on her way. Alice did not know what could be lurking in the dark alleyways and she did not want anything to happen to her. Knowing what did and could happen on the dark streets, she walked faster. As she rounded the corner a loud bang was heard from a dark alleyway, Alice jumped as a rat ran in front of her. 15

The street light started flickering as she walked down the barely lit street with all those shadows. 16

"Sh*t," Alice whispered as everything went pitch black. The power was gone and only that day she heard on the news about a murderer that moved around at night, the murderer loved young girls and when the police found the bodies two puncture wounds were found on their necks. 17

Alice knew it was a lot of weirdos in the world but she never believed the talk about vampires, Alice laughed at the thought that just found its way into her mind. Taking out the small flashlight she had in her bag Alice started to walk a bit faster, stopping she heard slow, heavy footsteps behind her. Alice started into a slow run and she heard the footsteps pick up as well, feeling a strong arm around her waist as a cold hand grips her face.18
