Anna: Chapter 6

She looks up at her house. The small, little L shaped rancher, the light blue paint slowly wearing away to a light gray. The house looked like the sky, gray and gloomy.1

A: Still the same…(she says under her breath as she gets out of the Chevy truck)2

A: Please, let momma’ be okay. Please, God. (she walks up the front walk and in the strong, oak wooden door) Momma’?3

JJ: Anna!! (runs away and jumps into her arms)4

A: (smiles, picks her up) Hi sweety, Where’s Momma’?5

JJ: She’s in her bedroom, laying down. She no feel good.6

A: (looks worried, sits JJ back on the couch)7

JJ: (grabs onto her shirt) No…don’t leave…I miss you!8

A: JJ, I’ll be right back. I am just gonna’ go check on Momma’, okay?9

JJ: But your always gone now…just like Daddy…and I miss you.10

A: (looks into her icy blue eyes) How ‘bout this…Tomorrow will be my and yours’ day. Okay, Jenny?11

JJ: Really?12

A: Yes, you and only you. But today, I just have to take care of a few things, okay?13

JJ: Okay!! (smiles)14

A: (pats her knee) okay…so tomorrow is our day. (smiles and gets up from the couch and back to her mom’s room) Ma’?15

M: (rolls over the covers over her not showing her body, only the movement)16

A: (kneels down beside the bed) How are you feeling?17

M: (emerges slowly from the covers peaking her head out) Anna? 18

A: Hey Ma’, How yah’ feelin’?19

M: (slowly sits up, place pillows to support up her back, a light smile comes over her face. She pat the bed slightly, signaling Anna to sit down)20

A: (Anna was worried, almost scared for the news, but her Mom’s warm smile eased her worry. She sat down carefully and looked into her Mother’s emerald green eyes)21

M: Sweetheart…Anna…I’m…(has a rather serious face)22

A: Your what Mom? (Anna puts her hand on hers, worried)23

M: (smiles) I’m pregnant. 24

A: Oh My Gosh (hugs her mom and begins to cry) That’s wonderful!25

M: (smiles)26

A: A baby (she smiles with tears in her eyes, withdrawing herself from her Mother’s body)27

M: (her smile grows larger, her big lips becoming thinner)28

A: Mom, a baby! (she smiles, grasp her hand, her face glowing. She couldn’t believe it.) How far along are you?29

M: I dunno…I am going to the doctor tomorrow…so will you watch JJ for meh?30

A: Yeah, I promised her tomorrow was our day. (smiles)31

M: Thanks, Anna…32

A: (she gets up from the bed) need anythin’?33

M: Nah…just some sleep…34

A: (smiles) Well…if ya’ need anything, yell.35

M: Okay, sweetie, thanks…(lays back down sinking more into the covers)36

A: (walks to the door and then turns) Hey Ma’…Have you talked to dad?37

M: (nods)38

A: Is he coming home? (her voice innocent)39

M: No, he won’t be home for a year…(sighs and avoids Anna’s eyes knowing she wouldn’t take this well)40

A: What? That’s next summer…you’ll already of had the baby.41

M: Hun…he needs this job…42

A: (walks from the room) And I thought family was the most important thing…(she says under her breath) I thought he cared…43
