In a white favoring community, blacks are treated still as slaves and underlings. And though slavery was illegal, in one large section of a country the law simply didn't apply to them. A large ship docks at lance harbor on an early sunday morning. After church the white people of the community parade their black servants to the dock where they are boarded and are to be sent out to sea and sold in a slave auction. Ruth a 12 year old white girl knows what is going on, unable to save her best friend Lita who is black, she climbs aboard the ship. But what she hadn't realized, that the trip she was taking for her friend, would turn into a hate crime, leaving her fighting for her life.1
