UnFoster Child Part I iv - The Room and First Supper

My first impression of the room was 'Holy god, it's neon'.  My guess is, the light refracting off the yellow walls hit my eyes and caused them to burn as they had when I first saw Risa.  I stumbled backward into the thankfully darkened hallway and leaned against the wall opposite the now-appointed 'Neon Room'.  After about ten minutes, Risa was growing impatient and finally shoved me into the blinding brightness, and I fell forward, face first, onto a soft carpet.  I laid there while she explained that this was my room and that everything in it was mine, hers was right next door, that we shared a bathroom and if I needed anything I could just find her in there, okay now?  I think I nodded, I'm not really sure, but I know she left, closing the door and leaving me in a room where I could barely see anything.1

I finally stood up and inched my way over towards one section of the room, hoping I'd come in contact with nothing painful, large or below knee height.  It seemed like forever, but I finally got smacked in the face with a cord.  I pulled it down and the room became darker, not much darker, but enough.  My eyes able to see better, I manuevered past the objects I had only hoped to not run into earlier and fell onto a canopy bed with - you guessed it - yellow bedclothes.  I was about to cry, but I was so tired that I crawled underneath the sheets and managed to drift off for a few minutes.2

I awoke when the clock struck six-thirty, and decided to remain in bed for a while longer.  I sat up after bout 3 minutes of fruitless tossing, and surveyed my surroundings: yellow.  Yellow walls, yellow bed stuff, yellow carpet...  I was about to scream from all of the bright coloring.  The doors were white, thankfully, giving me something to look at to reassure myself that I wasn't simply going colorblind, in a weird way.  After my eyes got used to the yellow, I noticed other little details, too.  For one, there was one of those circle chairs that was a lighter shade of yellow than the rest of the room, and it waws facing a light yellow desk with pretty black details.  The ceiling was about 12 feet away from me, and had one skylight which allowed in the light by which I was seeing.3

"Jasmine?"4

I turned to see Raven in the doorway.  It was so nice to see some color - or lack thereof - that wasn't vibrant and alive, and I'm sure the relief showed on my face, because his face actually showed a hint of a smile on it, before returning to the a serious mask.  He informed me of dinner, and I nodded, rubbing my eyes to rid them of their spots and random shapes.  He turned, though I swore I saw laughter glittering in his own eyes, and I asked him to wait, because I forgot where the dining room was.  He stopped, looked over his shoulder at me and blinked, a sign I took to be good, since he paused.  I grabbed something that felt like a hairbrush off the desk and ran it once, twice, thrice through my hair, wincing when it pulled on a snarl and biting my lip when it pulled out a few of the delicate hairs.  He stepped in front of me and led me down the stairs, into the kitchen, without so much as a breath to aknowlage my presence.  I thanked him, but by the time I got the words out he was gone.  I shook my head.  What was up with this twin?  He was just so...different...than the rest of the family.  I shrugged and stood near the island for the next five minutes, until Calvin came in and asked me why I wasn't eating.  I quickly scooted out to the dining room and into the nearest empty seat, where blue and green and brown eyes watched me curiously as I ate.  I wasn't in the mood to become my own spectator sport, so I excused myself.  Once I was safely in the kitchen, chatter broke up and refused to cease.  What was up with these people?5

Weird, yeah, but I'm very, very tired.
