Why Clean Up Is Important

It was a fine day in the graphics lab, and all the students were busy at work. Michaela walked past the sink, when she tripped over a squeegee that was lying on the floor. She stared at the squeegee.1

“Hm, I’m lazy and irresponsible, so I won’t put that away,” she said. The squeegee suddenly sprouted legs and a face. Michaela stared down at it in shock.2

“I am the squeegee monster!” said the squeegee. “You didn’t put me away! You are lazy and irresponsible!”3

“I am not!” whined Michaela. 4

“Yes you are!” said the squeegee monster. “And as a punishment, I will now eat your face!”5

“OH NO!” yelled Michaela, running to the front of the room while the squeegee monster followed her.6

“What are you doing?” asked Drew, standing next to Michaela. 7

“The squeegee monster is going to eat my face!” she screamed as the squeegee monster skidded to a stop at her feet.8

“Quick, extinguish it!” yelled Drew, throwing the fire extinguisher to Michaela. She pulled the pin out and aimed the nozzle at the squeegee monster. She squeezed the handle and the monster was covered in white goo.9

“Oh no, a fire!” said Taylor, quickly pulling the fire alarm. Everyone quickly exited the building and stood around outside. 10

“There actually wasn’t a fire,” Drew informed Taylor.  “A squeegee was chasing Michaela so I gave her the fire extinguisher so she could extinguish it.”11

“Oh,” said Taylor. “Too bad then.” A bunch of fire trucks pulled up to the school, and the principal informed them that there actually was no fire.12

“We came all the way out here for nothing?!” yelled a random fireman. “This sucks!” Suddenly, a large fleet of alien spaceships appeared in the sky. Everyone started screaming and running around frantically. One of the ships landed and an alien stepped out.13

“Hello Earthlings,” he said. “We have come to greet you all! Here’s a fruit basket!” He shoved a fruit basket in the nearest fireman’s arms and then smiled at the crowd of screaming people. 14

“Why are you here anyway?” asked the fireman holding the fruit basket.15

“Well, we decided a few seconds ago that we’d go to the place where the next fire alarm was pulled,” said the alien. “And it just so happened that this was the place!” The fireman nodded as a fleet of US Air force planes landed in the parking lot, crushing several cars. The planes that remained in the sky were shooting at the alien spaceships.16

“What’s going on?” asked the alien. Some important military guy stood in front of him, holding a huge gun.17

“Well, you’re aliens! We have to kill you now,” said the military guy.18

“You mean, you are not a peaceful race?” asked the alien as the military guy held the gun to his head.19

“No,” he said. “What made you think that?” The alien called for back up and more alien ships came swooping over the parking lot. They fired green lasers from their ships, blowing up the US planes and some random cars in the parking lot. The alien stood on the wreckage of a car and called for everyone’s attention. The remaining people (who were still screaming) looked up at him. 20

“We came here, thinking you were peaceful!” said the alien. “But you are not! You are also lazy and irresponsible! Especially you kids in the graphics lab! So, now we are going to blow up your planet!” Everyone gasped, and then continued running around and screaming. The alien walked back to his ship, which took off into the sky to join the others. They all flew off in separate directions, surrounding the whole globe. They all dropped giant bombs at the same time, totally and completely annihilating everything and everyone on the earth.21

And that is why clean up is important.22

Author notes

So, here's the story behind this...in graphics class, our teacher found a bunch of dirty tools in the sink. He told us we were lazy and irresponsible (which is why that phrase is used so often ) and that we had to write a one page (mine's a little longer... ) story on why clean up was important...I, of course, was thinking this was an awesome punishment.
