Betrayal Ch 4

So for the next few weeks, Tommy and Denise dated. Dylan moved on to Jessica. This upset Denise, but she didn't say anything. After all, she had been the one to screw things up with Dylan and she promised Tommy not to betray him. Yet this was harder for her than what she thought it would be. She knew that she could get Dylan back if she wanted. 1

And if the salt didn't get rubbed into the wound enough, Denise had her first block with Dylan and sat beside him and then had third and fourth block with Jessica. This was torture for Denise.2

Dylan talked to his buddy Brad about Jessica during class for Denise to hear. "Yea, Jessica and I are gonna be at Pat's Pizza Palace after school," Dylan said. Denise tried to block out the talking by concentrating on her work, but it was hard. Especially when she heard Dylan tell Brad, "We'll be sitting in the corner booth beside the window."3

Denise thought about how her and Dylan agreed that even if they broke up, that corner booth by the window would be their sacred spot. And now he was gonna take Jessica to it! How dare he. As much as she had done to him, she wouldn't have done that!4

The bell rang right after Dylan said that. Denise ran down the hall, right into Tommy. "Hey what's wrong," Tommy asked. "Dylan's taking Jessica to Pat's Pizza Palace and is gonna be sitting her in what was our spot," Denise shouted. "And he talks about me betraying him!" Tommy didn't say anything. He just put his arm around Denise and let her cry.5

Denise got to class fine and Tommy was torn. He knew that Denise still had feelings for Dylan. And he knew that Dylan wasn't really helping much by rubbing things in about what and where he'd be with Jessica. He wished he knew what to do. But he didn't. Not yet anyways.6

Tommy just sighed and put his head in his hands. What to do? He just couldn't stand to see Denise in pain.7
