The Little Bear and Gold Hair

"Mommy?" Little bear asked.1

"Yes, dear? What is it?" Mother bear sounded upset and frustrated. Little bear was always asking questions.2

"Are we going home now? I'm tired."3

"Ask your daddy. This was his idea."4

Daddy bear, big and gruff, growled out, "If it will shut the two of you up, then I guess we'll head home." He did not sound happy at all.5

The trio tromped back to their den, a nice cozy place that Daddy bear took from a wolf after Little was born. Nobody know what became of the wolf, but little loved to wear its pretty red cloak.6

"I'm hungry, mother." Little was always hungry.7

"Dinner is on the table already, son. Go ahead and eat up." Mother bear scowled at Daddy bear.8

Little sat at his usual place. Something wasn't right. He shifted uncomfortably in the chair.9

"Mommy, Daddy, I think somebody was sitting here. It feels warm."10

"You are imagining things, boy. Shut up and eat your din-din."11

Little picked up his spoon and leaned forward. His bowl was empty. There was no gruel.12

"Mommy, I don't have any dinner. It's gone!"13

Daddy bear growled. "If you finished it and want more, just say so."14

"And say please this time!" Mother added.15

"But, I didn't eat it. Somebody else did."16

Just as Mommy and Daddy were about to give Little a good spanking, they heard a rustling from the bedroom. As they all looked toward the door, a small waifish figure appeared. It had hair of gold, long and unkempt. She looked surprised to see the Bear family staring at her.17

"Mommy, she was in *bold*my\bold\ bed!"18

Daddy and Mommy looked at each other, then at Little and the mop-head. Maybe Little wasn't lying about the chair and the gruel.19

"Mommy, since it ate my dinner, and messed up my bed, may I?"20

"Yes, son. You may." Mommy and Daddy replied in unison.21

Well, you can imagine what Little did.22
