What he didn`t know was he would be a lot more like Charles Remington than he ever knew .1
A few weeks later Remington was going on a camping trip with his grandfather . Mainly because ever since Remington had heard the story he had a desire to be in the wild just like his new hero .They packed up their gear and headed off to the forest .At this time Remington was seven years old . He had blonde hair, brown eyes , was about four foot tall , and was ready for an adventure . His grandfather pulled over after a ride that seemed to last forever . They walked up to the ranger station to let them know they would be camping in the northern area of the forest. The ranger pointed out the best campsites and the trails that lead to them . The ranger also pointed out a lot of reports of wolves in the northern forest ,he said be sure to have protection with you . Then grandfather nodded and thanked the ranger for his time . They walked out and began up the trail they picked out . "Grandfather " asked Remington ? " Yes my son " replied Grandfather ? Are we going to see any wolves ? Grandfather stopped and looked at Remington . He replied with I don`t know. " I hope we do " said Remington . They started heading north again . Remington was amazed at everything he saw . His grandfather showed him tracks, animal signs, and different kinds of dens and burrows . This was the best day of his life as far as he was concerned . Wolf tracks !!! Yelled Remington . Remington was right . They are about three days old . Replied grandfather . They reached their campsite . They then unpacked and set up camp . Remington gathered firewood and buckets of water . While grandfather threw down the tarps, pitched the tents , and unrolled the sleeping bags . At about four-thirty they were done They decided to explore the area and make sure no wolves dens were close by .They had seen no signs of wolves to the south . But they needed to check the far north . Grandfather handed Remington a youth model .270 rifle . Remington thought it was the coolest gun he had ever seen . He would have not traded anything for it . They were hiking for about three miles when they spotted something . Remington said " what is that " ? Grandfather replied " that my boy is a dead deer carcass no doubt tore up by those wolves but its a couple of weeks old . So we should have nothing to worry about . They spotted no wolf signs so they headed back . Grandfather told Remington to keep his gun by his side at all times ,and to never walk anywhere by himself .2
