Chapter 6

Chapter 61

(5 minutes later)2

“Hop in you four.” said headmaster Riot, “I’ll be driving you to the airport.3

“Ok then.” said Phillip as they stepped into the bus.4

“It will take quite a while to get to the airport so be prepared.”5

The four of them were still tired, and nervous about being on an airplane for what they considered the first time in their lives. Sammy and Victoria grabbed the front two seats, because they knew that Phillip and Alice were going to want the back. They were all settled in and ready to leave considering the circumstances. They started off. for a while all that they could see was empty land and cows. Eventually they started to see some man made houses with big areas surrounded by fence with horses in them. The cows still kept coming.6

“Are you four nervous?”7

“Are you kidding?!” said Victoria, “For the first time in our lives we get a chance to see the real world, and maybe even save it. The fate of the world is resting on our shoulders! We get to see real people and maybe even a few other mutants. We may even meet some of them! Hell yes I’m nervous!”8

“Well, technically it’s not the first time in your lives.”9

“Well,” said Phillip, “We kind of tried to forget the first part of our lives due to the fact that they don’t matter too much now that we have these abilities that no normal man could ever hope to have. So you could say that technically it is the first time in our ‘new’ lives”10

“You have tried to forget? No matter who you were at what time, everything that you have done in your life you have learned from.”11

“We may have learned from all of this stuff, but it sure wasn’t a fun learning experience!”12

The rest chuckled at Sammy’s comment.13

“Well, all that I’m saying is that you may need to use something that you have learned in the past to benefit your future.”14

“Like what?” said Alice baffled.15

“Oh, loss perhaps. Or maybe reward. Maybe you’ll need to talk your way out of a situation. You really never know.”16

The other four were silent. They didn’t know how to reply to what the headmaster had just said. They were nervous, but excited at the same time. But they were also very tired from the night before.17

They had been in the buss for a couple hours and after a while Riot said, “How ‘bout we sing a road trip song?”18

“How ‘bout we don’t?” said Sammy who had been sleeping19

They lived so far from civilization that getting anywhere with people and a bathroom took what seemed years.20

More empty land. They were bored out of their minds and ready to explode. Alice’s head was rested on Phillips shoulder and his head was on hers. She was obviously sleeping, but Phillip was wide awake. All that he could think was about their relationship. It was certainly an odd one. She was shy and a bit dark minded, while he was popular and lively and outgoing. She didn’t want anyone to talk to her unless she addressed them first. She was sort of a control freak and knew it, but wouldn’t say it. He was easy going, and accepting of most everyone. He wasn’t the smartest kid ever, but he was smart. She was one of the top students in the school, and sure wasn’t afraid to say it. They were an odd pair indeed. How they had ended up together was certainly a mystery, but he didn’t mind it none the less.21

Even though Alice could make people have pleasant dreams, she herself had problems doing so. She was standing outside her school with her three friends. It was dark, cloudy, and raining, but it had to be day time because you could see the dim shape of the sun through one of the clouds. Where you could see rays of light, you could see a vague figure of two black horses carrying a large chariot. Their hooves sounded like thunder rolling on the ground.  The closer they got the more their red eyes glowed. They looked like rubies set in an onyx background. The horses almost ran her over, but she dove out of the way. She was defenseless. She had no powers. She felt weak. She was crying. A tall, heavy set man stepped out of the chariot, and you could see three other figures inside. He pulled out a revolver and looked directly at Alice. Then you could hear six shots ring. Alice didn’t feel any gun shots so she looked at her three friends, their legs bleeding on the ground. At that moment, the man grabbed Alice and threw her hard into the chariot, and…22

“We’re here!” said Riot.23

Alice awoke startled and looked to make sure everyone was alright. Sammy and Vicki were in the front sleeping. Alice had managed to hit Phillip in the mouth with her head when she awoke.24

As she was apologizing, they all stepped out of the van.25

“Now, all that you four need to do is make your way to the airplane. You have no bags, so you won’t need to check anything but yourselves in. Just read the signs and they will lead you in the right direction.” said Riot, “You are all on separate planes so you’ll be separated.”26

“Alright.” the four said anxiously as they began to walk into the largest building they had since they were born.27

“Oh! But I did forget a few things. These bags hold all the money that you will need to feed yourselves, and so forth. Also, there are glasses inside which will allow you to know just who are the normal people and who are the mutants.”28

“Ok.” said Sammy reluctantly taking off his old sun glasses. “Hey! You guys are glowing!”29

“Haha! So are you Sammy!”30

“Yes, that’s how you can tell who is a mutant, and who’s not.”31

“Cool-Ness.” said Sammy32

“Yes.” continued Riot, “Now, Remember to check in with Mojo frequently. If you ever get lost or anything like that, we can help.”33

“Thanks Riot.” said Phillip.34

“Your welcome, and good luck to you all.”35

“So long! Adios! See ‘ya!” They all shouted back as they began to walk into the airport.36

“Have you ever had the feeling like someone was watching you?” said Sammy.37

“Shut up Sammy!” said Vicki laughing, “Your just nervous.”38

“Maybe…” Victoria didn’t know it, but Sammy was serious.39

After lifetimes of goodbyes were said, they all split up.40

All that any of them could think was, “This is it.” And that is was.41
