Lydia was growing up. She was in eighth grade now, changing slowly with time, growing into the person she would be for the rest of her life. And she was happy with that. But she still wasn't happy with the dictators. She was okay with the fact that they hated each other. She actually kind of liked it that way. Lydia knew they'd never understand her, even if they ever did get along. That's why she had friends. But Lydia needed parents. Not dictators. She was tired of fending for herself. No matter how strong it made her.1
Corey was off at acting school, in the city, and Lydia was happy for him. He was doing great, and he was happy. He escaped the dictators, followed his dream, and got away. But the dictators always found something...2
They fought over pointless things, every chance they found. Lydia blocked it out. She used sarcasm as a virtue. Sometimes it shut them up. But Lydia was having another problem: she felt like she was trusting too many people when she shouldn't. Lydia couldn't have that. She had her circle, and that's all she needed. That's all she wanted. But something was going wrong, some things just slipped out sometimes. Lydia had to stop that...3
Then again, something amazing happened to Lydia in the eighth grade. She found love. His name was Andrew, and he was the perfect guy for Lydia. She loved him. But with love, comes problems. 4
Andrew was always honest with Lydia, and she loved that about him. But Andrew also told Lydia when he cheated on her with her best friend, Macy. Lydia never cried. She promised herself she'd never do that again. Ever. But she did when Andrew told her to. She felt he was right. Whatever Andrew said was comforting, so she cried over him. And he was right there holding here hand. Telling her he loved her and that he never meant to hurt her. She believed him. And he broke it off as soon as he could. And Lydia was happy with that.5
Andrew took Lydia's mind off of the dictators. She loved the way he knew exactly what to say at any given moment. He knew when she wanted him to flirt with her, when she wanted to laugh, when she wanted to be held. He knew everything. And she loved him.6
But then Lydia's best friend fell in love with him. And Lydia couldn't have that. She knew he didn't love her. Or did he?7
And then, yes there is an and then, Andrew made a 'bet' with some of the guys about Macy's other friend. He had to go out with her. And then she fell in love with him. That's when Lydia started having doubts about who Andrew really loved. 8
But something inside her told her to stick it out. "Just as long as he tells you he loves you, you're in love." And Lydia was okay with that.9
But she wasn't sure.10
Time for another message.11
"Love isn't a lie"12
Just for comfort.13

Bravo!
Amanda, this an excellent story, it's very sad too. Certain things stand out so well. I love how you never called her parents, parents, they were the dictators. This is so well written. I absolutly can't wait for you to write a chapter four! Keep it up! The applause and complements are for the entire sotry as a whole, not just this chapter. -
