Part 21
I really did confuse him. There was an ancient war fought between werewolves and vampires, and if one even came into contact with another, a blood hunt would be issued. Werewolves were generally stronger than Vampyres, but both were strong in their own ways. 2
Adrian walked towards me, trying to figure out why I was stronger than him. Why I was so much different. I kept my protective layer up and felt him give up, accepting that he wouldn’t be seeing my soul any time tonight.3
“What are you doing out at this time?” He asked me.4
“Same as you. Clubbing.” I replied, watching his body language as werewolves did. I noticed him shift his position, implying that he probably wasn’t just out partying. I played the innocent card, pretending I assumed that he was just clubbing. 5
He looked suspiciously at me and I waited for him to move so I could go home.6
“If you don’t mind, I have to go to work early and I’d like to get some sleep.” I told him.7
“I’ll walk you home” He offered.8
The look in his eyes faded and I allowed him to follow me as I moved from one rooftop to another. 9
“This is my stop.” I told him, looking over the edge for a place to land unseen. He looked around curiously. “Which building is yours?” he asked as we stood overlooking a cross road.10
“That’s for me to know and you to stay up all night crying because you don’t have a clue.” I replied.11
“Thank you for escorting me here safely” I smiled at him and kissed him before leaping down into the shadows. I knew he would be watching the cross roads to see which building I went into. I crouched behind a dumpster and waited, watching his silhouette. To human eyes, he was invisible against the dark of the sky but my eyes were made for night-time. As he turned his head away from where I lay, I crawled up the wall and landed behind him.12
He turned swiftly as he sensed my presence. 13
“Don’t you have somewhere to be?” I asked him playfully. 14
“No. And anyway.. I wanted to return your kiss.” His eyes smiled at me as he finished his sentence.15
“You were going to wait there all morning until I came out again?” I asked him, mock disbelief filling my voice. 16
He grinned and moved towards me, pulling me into a kiss. I felt him search once more for my protective barrier and threw up an extra layer to try and get my message across.17
“Why are you so different?” He asked as I turned to go.18
“Now if I told you that, there would be no reason for us to see each other again so soon.” I replied. “Now if you don’t mind, I actually DO have to go to work tomorrow. Goodnight.” 19
“Sweet dreams.” He called after me as I dropped onto the pavement in the alleyway. 20
I felt his aura move away, walking to the other side of the building. I felt him start to climb down the wall like a spider and confusion filled my mind. About 2 floors up, he stopped.21
He probably lived there and crawled in through window. 22
“He’s probably smarter than I thought.” I whispered to myself. Smiling to myself, I walked back the way we had come until I was 2 blocks away from where he lived. I let myself in the old fashioned way, using a key in my door. As soon as I had locked it again, I picked up the phone and rang Char, to check that she was safe.23
