Watching Her- Part 17

Before entering into the darkness, Sarah looked up at the sky: a full moon. Immediately, thoughts of werewolves came to her mind. She winced a smile at her own silliness and continued to follow Kevin into the grove of trees. Kevin led her through the thicket for a couple of minutes, along a dirt path. Sarah assumed he came here a lot.1

“Okay, here it is.” Kevin said as he turned off the flashlight and let go of her hand. He stood beside her on the bank of a shallow creek. The water in the creek was shallow, but reflected off the full moon above. Sarah was mesmerized. 2

The moon shone brightly, almost like a lamp through the darkness. The surrounding forest provided a beautiful eeriness of mystery. Animals around buzzed and hooted along with the light wind. The moon above was full and glowing and reflected down to the creek bed. It was made up of smooth tan rocks and pebbles. 3

Kevin unzipped the duffel bag on the ground and pulled out a thicket mat and two blankets. He laid the mat down and spread a blanket over it and set the blanket on top. He pulled out a pillow and laid it at the head, setting up a bed on the bank. But Sarah didn’t pay any attention. She continued to look around at the forest’s beauty, captivated. She smiled at its loveliness and turned to Kevin, who was sitting on the mat He grinned in response to her white smile showing in the shallow darkness.4

“I used to come here when I was a kid and did my homework. But then, I just forgot about it. I grew up. But for the past months, I started coming here again, just thinking and stuff. It feels great.” Sarah came and sat next to him. Kevin gripped her hand and laid down, taking her down with her.5

“This is beautiful.” She said, smiling. She stared into his face as he gazed at the sky. 6

Kevin gripped her hand as she lay against his shoulder. She smelled his scent and breathed deeply in the night air. Kevin sighed and wrapped his arm behind her neck, stroking her arm. She looked up to him, her eyes shining. 7

‘It’s so cheesy, but so sweet,’ she thought. She wasn’t sure what to think- she was falling for him and was nervous under his arm. 8

Kevin looked down at her in her stark beauty. He bent closer and kissed her tenderly, using his same effect of caressing her tongue with his and feeling her soft hair. He pressed forward and kissed her more deeply than he ever had. His hand slid to her neck while his other held hers between them across her chest.9

He kissed her, changing between deep strokes of his tongue and soft ones to ease her out her nervousness. Kevin felt her hand perspire as he kissed her cheek and went down to her neck.10

Sarah closed her eyes and gulped, letting him kiss her neck. She bit her lip as his hand switched from her neck to her collar bone repeatedly. She placed her hand on his back and released her other hand from his and slid it up his arm to his shoulder. He placed himself over her and slid his left hand down to her hip while the other supported himself over her. 11

Kevin lifted his lips from her neck and returned to her mouth, kissing her deeply, letting her know how he wanted to touch her. He slid his hand up her side and across her midriff. She sucked in her stomach and shook under his hand, her mouth quivering under his. He broke away from her lips and kissed her bottom lip and moved to kiss her neck again. His hand glided up her midriff, right under her chest.12

Sarah bit her lip, thinking about what she was doing. She wasn’t prepared and she panicked. She whispered and choked, “K-K-Kevin?”13

He whispered back against her neck. “Yeah?”14

“Umm, I- I- I- I- d-don’t know if I’m ready yet. I mean…” Kevin raised his head and looked up to see her quivering. “…have you gotten tested? Do we have protection? I- I- I just wan-”15

Kevin sighed in irritation and shame. She wasn’t ready and he didn’t know why he’d been so foolish to force himself on her. ‘She probably isn’t ready, or is waiting ‘til marriage.’ And that’s what he assumed. He sat up on his side beside her.16

“I’m so sorry. I knew a lot of girls were waiting, but I didn’t know you were too. I don’t want to come between your religion. It’s okay.”17

“What do you mean ‘waiting’?”18

“Ya know… waiting.”19

“Are you talking about waiting until marriage?”20

“Well… yeah. I’m sorry that I started this, I just wish you would have told me.”21

Sarah sat up. “No… I mean… I’m not. It’s just. I don’t- I ca- I’m sorry…,” she said, looking up to him. He smiled to her in consolation. “Not yet, okay? Maybe one day, but not now.” 22

“Hey, atleast you told me.” He smiled at her and planted a short kiss on her lips. “Don't worry, okay? You don't need to be nervous."23

Sarah exposed her nervousness by chewing on her bottom lip and not looking towards his face, blushing. He smiled, knowing her thoughts. "Let’s get outta here.”24
