Look Out

He was after me. I could hear his feet pounding the damp ground, wet from the rain this morning. A low fog was setting over the hills, and I was losing sight. His short breaths became louder, as he became nearer to me. Gaining on me, catching me. I had to run faster.1

I was unfit. Nothing compared to the strength in his body. My heart would stop soon, then I would be in his clutches. I could hear him laughing, he was going to catch me, we both knew it. Still, I kept running, thinking I had a small chance. The life inside his body was far greater than mine, and any moment now, he would catch me, and who knows what would happen then! 2

My feet began to go numb. I looked down at them as they pounded the ground in desperation. It was as if they were not attached to my body, as they lifelessly covered more and more ground, tucking it into the distance behind me.3

"Go on, scum, leave me alone! I am only young, I deserve to be free!" It took all my strength to scream those few words at him. 4

Soon, I came to gathering of trees. I climbed up sloping hills into the shadows, hoping he wouldn't spot me. I held my breath, fearing he would hear me. I looked around, and  he was no-where to be seen.5

Feeling brave, I stepped out from behind the tree. That's when he pounced. His sweaty fur tickling me, as he licked my face! He won the game, he loves to play catch! God, I love my dog!6
