A lovelorn boy went to bed at night on the 27th of December 2005. As he slept he wondered what life was. Where was he really? At the time of his death, would there be a show reel that replays his life in tiny increments? 1
He was unsure whether he enjoyed thinking these thoughts just before he went to sleep and would often toss and turn in the nighttime. 2
His dreams of late involved a young boy of about the age of two. The lovelorn boy would try to entertain the young boy. Firstly, he would place a pink children's tape into a cassette player. His fingers would then gently grasp those of the little boys and he would daintily ask, "Let's wiggle and dance, okay?" The entertained young chap would spontaneously move his body into all sorts of shapes and rhythmic patterns. At times, the young boys body would look so electrified with happiness that the lovelorn boy could do nothing but explode into fits of laughter. At this very point, the happy dreamer awoke.3
His body had been twisted into a foetal position and his thumb had miraculously ended up stuck between his lower and upper lip. The lovelorn boy plied his thumb from his mouth and felt his stomach. He wished that it would cease to protrude and would find a new home away from it's permanent vacation (located squarely below his chest). He wondered what would happen if his internal dialogue would become the main character of an independent film. Would the character co-exist peacefully with others? Would he be a heart throb or would he continue to call for love? 4
The lovelorn boy was startled as his mobile phone vibrated. It was now 2 AM and his eyes were beginning to water. Naturally he closed them. His new recurrent dream consisted of his body dressed in a white wedding suit. As he waited at the altar of the cottage decked church a violin concerto began to play as the doors at the back of the church swung open violently. From the shadows confidently walked a creature dressed in a finely beaded pearl gown. This creature was an amalgam of man and woman - a new creation of gender fusion in motion. Man and woman in a delicate balance of the beauties and ferocities of both genders. The lovelorn boy felt strangely attracted to this creature and watched him/her waltz and shimmer down the aisle. Each step was more like a stamp - the exotically arousing creature stamped his/her way towards the lovelorn boy and when he/she arrived to the place where the boy was standing he was suddenly awoken by his mobile phone vibrating again.5
He had forgotten that earlier a message had been sent to him. As he retrieved the message he wondered whether there really were such a thing as guardian angels. If so, were they watching him right at this very moment? He wondered whether they disapproved when he sometimes played with himself in the middle of the night to cure his loneliness. 6
The message was from a company trying to sell the lovelorn boy antacid tablets. He was unsure how poignant that message was to his life at the moment and how the company had gotten hold of his number. At this moment his stomach rumbled.7

This is more a short story. I dreamt about my sister having a little boy as she is soon to be married and I was playing with him. It made me so very happy as I will never have children (the thought of that made me sad). The second dream I had had me marry a half man and a half woman which must mean something. My attraction wavers at times. That is what this piece encapsulates. Tony.

Thanks Patty. I have dreamt these dreams before. The first one was a much stronger dream. The lovelorn boy does reflect me in particles. I thought that that is how I would make this become more about me. My pleasure to enter. It was a challenge. Tony.

Well, I have to agree with Rob that this is very entertaining. It's also surprising. You are indeed a very talented writer, and you have proved that with this piece.
I can sometimes interpret dreams, but this one is difficult. Is this actually something that you dreamed? It seems as if the lovelorn boy is searching for acceptance in the wrong places. He must first accept himself and stop worrying about how others see him. He has to find his own happiness; it's his responsibility to find it for himself. I learned by 18 years of marriage that no once could make me happy except me.
It's as if there is a question of gender. Why? I can't say. Is it possible that he is attracted to both and just doesn't know it? Anything is possible.
This is a wonderful piece, Tony. I really am glad that you decided to enter my contest. I am honored to have you.
By the way, if an antacid company starts calling my cell phone, I'm sending them my bill.
Hugs, Patricia
