Christmas 2005 in Calhoun, Louisiana

My son, his fiancee, and myself took the turkey and dressing and a pie up to the annual family Christmas dinner at my cousin, Judy's house.  Let's just say, the day was uneventful..but that's a good thing.  My Uncle T and my Aunt Emma Sue are the surviving siblings of my mother's side of the family.  We had way too much food, so we brought back turkey, dressing, and Lisa's pie.  1

My cousins, Judy K and Mary Grace went off to smoke and gossip...about men probably.  All in all, the typical dysfunctional family Christmas.  No knockdown dragout fights occurred so I suppose that means it was a success.  It made me realize why I usually enjoy spending Christmas day doing other things, however.  If I sound aggravated...depressed a little...it is because I hate being sick...and I seem to be fighting off a cold that just won't leave, in spite of the added dose of vitamin C, noni juice, vitamin powder.  2

Thank God I'm off today, Monday the 26th.  I can't even think about going back to work today.  Maybe by Tuesday the 27th I'll feel better.  Lord, I hope and pray so.  3

I hope everyone's Christmas was a blessed one...and hope ya'll have a very blessed 2006.  4

    No Literary Turkey Here

Lol, typical dysfunctional family Christmas. hope you are well by now, enjoying 2006, and relating all writing all of the joys and little annoyances within. I like your style!

After all that happened in Louisiana recently, I'm glad you have a home to go to. This is somehow refreshing to hear, an uneventful day. Count your blessings and I hope you are feeling better! being around family is sometimes difficult, but its better than not having one! Thanks for the well wishes and I hope 2006 is a banner year for you! The Shaker

I'm not sure if a comment is really required on this. So I'll just say Rah no typos!
You are the first person I have seen who has had an uneventful family dinner. Congratulaions on not throttling each other, but you lose marks for still having turkey left over.
Me I just yell Bah Humbug and stay away until Hogmanay.

Sounds a whole lot like our Christmas celebration. I can tolerate my in-laws long enough to scarf some food and say the obligatory niceities and go back home.

    Sincerely,
    Leo Long

Hey sounds like a normal family Christmas. Forced together for the day with only shared history and the love of the family bringing you together. No common interests, so boredom sets in. It's one of those, I'll be bored if I do and unhappy if I don't.
