Identity To Kill

“Raven. Where are you going?” the voice asked me.1

“To find him.” A simple answer for such a simple question. As little detail as possible.2

“Oh no you don’t. We’re doing this together.” Charticia Maine spoke calmly yet sternly.3

“Char, I work slightly differently to you.” I tried to get her to stay behind.4

“Yeah.. Alone.. But Kraze put us together for a reason.” She gave m a defiant look and I gave in.5

“Okay but stay close. We could get lost in these crowds.” I hated working with mortals. But she had a point.6

We moved forward through the club, keeping an eye out for our target. At the bar we saw a young man sitting, talking to a blonde girl. This was the guy all right. The blonde was flirting with him and he was gazing into her eyes as if she were the most beautiful thing on earth.7

“Shall I use my eyes, or my walk?” I asked Char. 8

“Walk. You go girl.” She replied. I looked at her black hair, her blue tint shining in the lights of the club. Her brown eyes looked dull and tired tonight. I had guessed from my soul scan she had had a troubled day. That was the only reason I was being bait, to give her a break.9

The girl walked over to a guy a little further down the bar as the guy she had been talking to stared at us. Char nudged me and I walked over to him, my eyes sparkling and the slit in my skirt impressing itself into his mind. His yes widened as I sat on a bar-stool next to him and crossed my legs, exposing more of my skin.10

“Hey. What’s a guy like you doing here all by yourself?” I asked casually. Char walked over to lean against the bar next to me, her slightly tanned skin, pale against her black strap top. We watched as his eyes widened to their full extent and I stood up, looking at him. My eyes scanned his aura, immediately sensing the alcohol coursing through his body. He was clearly very near to drunk.11

We bought him a vodka shot, which he drank rapidly, before standing up. He was pretty tall, standing at about 6 foot 3, as he swayed gently. One hand on the bar and the other held out to me, he invited me outside for some fresh air. I held his hand, trying not to shudder at having to touch him. Char followed closely behind uninvited. 12

He led me to a back room. Upon entry I scanned the pitch blackness for a door to the outside. On finding one I relaxed and gave char the code sentence:13

“So, Are you going to let us have fun?” I asked him. He looked up as Char entered and closed the door behind her.14

This was going to be fun.15

We disposed of his body in the dumpster, a hand hanging out so he would be found easily. We had been very careful. No marks on his body, only fingerprints on his jacket which we took with us. We moved back into the crowd and practised seducing other men. Char saw someone she knew from work and I held back and ordered a drink of water form the bar. As I sat observing the bunch surrounding my colleague, a young man, only about 17 tried to chat me up. I humoured him for a while before he stood up and stared at me. His grey eyes turned silver and I automatically threw up all of my protective barriers and stood up also.17

“I should really be going now” I murmured, very surprised and hurt that a guy would try and scan me like that. I scanned his soul and found the same barriers I had put up myself.18

He looked as shocked as I felt and the words of my Boss echoed in my mind. 19

“If you think he knows who you are just get the fuck out of there before something bad happens."20

I knew his barriers weren’t as strong as mine, me being more than your average vampyre. I could have broken his down but was too shocked to think straight. I walked swiftly over to Char and dragged her away from her crowd. “trouble” I whispered to her. She gave me a very worried look and we left as quickly as we could. We left using separate entrances so that the guy would not suspect her to be working with me. I felt a wave of relief wash over me as I felt him follow me and not her. 21

I turned the corner onto the main street then turned left into a dark alley. I leapt onto the bin and grabbed the steps hanging off the wall off a block of flats. 22

“New York City is a great place to hide in.” The voice caused me to run faster over the rooftops. His powers mentally were weaker than mine, but physically he was faster and stronger. He leapt over my head and landed about 4 metres in front of me. He was wearing a black cape and trousers. His pale face made his grey eyes seems darker. The moon shone down on them, as we stood face to face. I felt his mind tendrils probing me, frantically searching my soul again. I felt his disbelief as he failed to de-mask me. I put a hand on her left hip and smirked at him. His face paled further as I mentally scanned him, putting my arms up and muttering words in my mind to take down his walls. 23

His name, was Lestat Avarus, and he was a full blood Vampyre....24
