The rain came down in buckets,2
Upon the midnight jungle floor.3
My stalking eyes were fixed,4
Upon the guard beside the door.5
Inside the hut the VC lay,6
In sleep, and homeward dream.7
Knowing not that in the rain,8
Lurked a Special Forces team.9
Hand over mouth to hush his scream,10
My blade deeply in his chest.11
Blood spattered on my painted face,12
I put the hapless guard to rest.13
Explosives planted beneath the huts,14
For when we make our getaway.15
Then off to seek our comrade,16
They had captured yesterday.17
He was setting in the court yard,18
Impelled on a two foot bamboo stake.19
He had been there for hours,20
Until death gave him a brake.21
The look was frozen on his face,22
Of agonizing and tortured pain.23
I could not hold the tears back,24
Even now they flow again.25
Spawned by despair and hatred,26
Sometimes Jekyll turns to Hyde.27
Something inside turns to fury,28
Brutality sucks away your pride.29
We turned the cranks and blew the camp.30
No VC troop was spared.31
We killed with anything we had,32
With rage and no one cared.33
But sometimes at night I hear them,34
With their pleading and their screams.35
They were soldiers and that was war ,36
But now they haunt me in my dreams.37

War means nothing dear sir, you had a choice to go to kill or not
But you were a chiken to say no to the ones who send you there, now you live with your concience and beg God for mercy, if he will have any on you, for he clearly states in the Holy book that murder He will not forgive, you were stupid enough to le some scam poleticians take you for a ride
In conclusion don`t feel proud for your past actions and write silly stories about them, but g and hide from the Lord, for he is looking for that blood you spilled then, in the end you shall repay in this life or the other

It is fitting that Phantom penned his/her response on April 1st. The Bible does indeed say that we should not murder each other; it also instructs the children of Israel to lay total waste to entire Canaanite villages, sparing not man, woman. infant, child or animal. As a wounded combat veteran, I am no fan of war and find it very seldom really necessary, It certainly should not be entered into for light and transient reasons, but the idiocy of Opera's

Reading your very interesting passage from the Bible as to the Lord instructing the children of Israel to lay in waste the Canaanites
I am sorry to declaire, that the lord did not instruct no one to do that
It is a mere excuse of the Isralites, so to manipulate the word of God and show the jentile Nations that they were the chosen Nation of the Lord, so as to expand their filth to the rest of the then known teritories as Greece , Rome
There is no way, The true Lord would arm the hand of anyone to go and kill
God is love
Maybe the god you are reffering and them too, is the Master of darkness that till today governs over the Nations
The true God allmighty is going to show his purpose to all Nations at the appointed time as he fortold, and his purpose for mankind is love
Of course little you Christian people know of love
You are hypocrites and filthy snakes, taking Gods name upon your lips in vain
So are the churches that you go, Whore houses, full of adultereting sinners that know nothing of God
In conclusion, I feel sorry for you Veterans for you fought for no cause, other than the estime of some mad ruler who drove you there filling your heads with patriotic propaganda and all the rest that goes with it
In the end when you came back home without hands or legs the State did not want to know you anymore

Humanity can play such havoc with our minds after events. My question to the do-gooders is " confronted with the same,what would they have done?" excellently explained and draws the reader to An eerie place. As place that is the PAST, Where it belongs.

Now this is what i call the reality! Someone who was actually there and saw and experienced that brutality. This was the greatest write on this subject i have read yet here. The whole thing had me rivited. Your anger and your pain were plain as day. The whole flow of the piece was just spot on and rhythm and rhyme, unbeatable. I can't say enough about this. To hear it from someone who knows it how it was just leaves me stilled for words. I tried to write from what i heard but your write was real. Thank you so much for sharing this although i sense it may have really hurt you to write because of the memories. Don't even think of changing a thing. This is bookmarked! Thank you Raven. In war you kill and expect death. But when a close friend has been brutalized and and suffered for long agonizing hours. All you can think about is revenge. Rage takes over and you do things you'd never think of doing.
And then you have to live with your actions. But thats war.
