Chapter two (After Broken)

“Well I just got the message that Amanda is going to be fine.” Rose announced.1

“Cool, that’s great is she coming back to cheerleading?” Celest asked impatiently.2

“I think she will be out for a while.” Sarah explained running up.3

“Why’s that?” Celest asked.4

“Because the doctor said she broke her ankle and she’s not allowed on it for about two months.” She replied looking worried.5

“Well that sucks!” Celest yelled frantically. “Where am I going to find someone who can take her place on such short notice?”6

“Well here comes Ashley you may want to make sure she is coming to practice from now on. Because we can’t function with two girls out!”7

“I know I know.” Celest said walking over to Ashley.8

“Hey Bret can I have a minute with Ashley please?” Celest asked.9

“Sure, I’ll see you later babe.” Bret said walking down the hall.10

“What’s up Celest?” Ashley asked.11

“Well I’m sure you heard about Amanda’s accident.” Celest explained. “She’s out with a broken ankle and she’s not allowed on it until after semis.”12

“Wow that kind of sucks.” Ashley said staring at her toes. “I have been meaning to tell you about something, I have to quit the squad.”13

“WHAT?!”14

“My mom is freaking on me, because my grades are slipping.” She explained.15

“What?”16

“I am really sorry.”17

“What do you think we are going to do with two girls out?” She asked.18

“I don’t know, I said I was sorry so you’ll have to live with it!”19

“But…” Celest began.20

“I’m sorry I can’t help you!” she said, “I have to go, I have a meeting with the school councilor.”21

“Sure.” She replied hesitantly.22

“What was that all about?” Rose said running up behind her.23

“She has to quit the squad!” Celest said loudly.24

“What? She can’t do that!” Rose said in response.25

“Well she is and I can’t stop her.” Celest said.26

“Well we’ll have to try some new cheers.” Rose suggested.27

“I don’t have any more cheers!” Celest yelled. “I am completely out of new cheer ideas!”28

“It’s okay Celest.”29

“No it’s not!” she yelled running into the washroom.30

After school Celest got home and walked into her parents.31

“Hi mom.” 32

“Hi dear,” her mom said. “Dear can you come in here for a second?”33

“Sure mom, what’s up?”34

“Well you see dear, your father and I have something to tell you.” She began. “Oh herald you tell her.”35

“Mom you sound worried.”36

“Hun what your mom is trying to say is that, well Hun we’re broke!”37

“What?” She yelled.38

“We have no money.”39

“Why?”40

“We don’t know what happened but something happened at the bank and they are taking everything!” her dad replied.41

“Oh my God, you have got to be kidding me?” She said frantically.42

“Sorry dear no joke,” her mother said. “We have to be out by the end of the week.”43

“What?” She said. “Where are we going to go?”44

“Well your grandmother has graciously allowed us to go live with her.” Her dad explained.45

“What? Go live on Grandma Tracy’s ranch?” She yelled unbelievingly. “But that’s like in the middle of nowhere!”46

“That’s not true, it’s just a couple days drive.”47

“But it’s like gross out there, and they are all farmers and they work outside!”48

“Yes dear, it’s going to be an adventure.”49

“I don’t want a freaking adventure; I want to be here where it’s familiar and safe and where I know everyone!”50

“Sorry dear there’s nothing we can do about it right now.”51

“Well I’m not going.” She said running out of the room.52

The next day at school Celest couldn’t function. She was a total wreck and was going absolutely insane.53

“You’re what?!” Yelled Jamie staring at Celest in unbelief as she stood in front of the cheer squad and poured out the bad news.54

“I know already.” She said annoyed. “You’re said that like fifty times in the last ten minutes.”55

“I’m sorry, But oh my Gosh!” She replied. “What are you going to do? What are we going to do?”56

“I have no idea what I am going to do!” She yelled pacing back and forth. “This is so stupid!”57

“How did this happen?”58

“I have no idea. They have no idea!” She said.59

“I cannot move to the middle of nowhere to live because something crappy happened at the bank.” She said.60

“I know.” Jamie said.61

“This is the most important time of my life; I can’t just watch it go down the drain!” She yelled. 62

“I know.” Jamie replied.63

“No you don’t know!” Celest said. “No one knows what crap I am in!”64

“We’re trying.” Rose said encouragingly.65

“Well this is just stupid and I don’t know what to do!” 66

“It’s okay.” Sarah said, trying to make her feel better.67

“Well my life just ended!” She said dramatically.68
