Life with sargeant chapter two

"Maybe you shouldn't take what you have for granted. Listen to what people who have athority over you tell you. Maybe your life wouldn't be so 'awful' if you'd just do what you're supposed to and stop getting in trouble!" Who does she think she is, my MOM? This place was awful. And I had only been here about what, fifteen minutes? Only long enough to be lectured by some buff army freak with no other life but to tell girls what they should and should not do! Who was she anyway?1

"Um...before you continue on your lecture, who the hell are you?" She stood up straight as a board and gave me just about the nastiest look I had ever seen before.2

"I'M YOUR SARGEANT YOU INGRATE! IF YOU'RE GOING TO BE UNDER ME, I EXPECT YOU TO STRAIGHTEN UP!" She got really close to my face and raised one eyebrow. "Understand?" Whoa...that was really scary...and I'm not being sarcastic. I mean this woman had a temper like a wet hornet. I stood there stupidly for a few seconds, slightly in shock at how loud she could yell. After I while I realised she still had her face really close and twisted. I also realised I had better answer. 3

"Y-yes sir!" I managed to stutter out. Her face got so red I thought she was going to explode.4

"DO I LOOK LIKE A MAN TO YOU???" She screamed. Oh no...I called her sir.5

"I'm sorry ma'am. I meant YES MA'AM!" My voice cracked. This place sucked majorly. How long was I here for? It hit me like a brick...I didn't know how long I was supposed to be here.6

"I want you to finish unpacking your stuff and report to the gym. This map will show you where everything is on the base. We eat innnn....two hours. If you're not on time, I'll smoke you out. Understand?" I muttered a low "yes" and turned to my bag. I didn't understand this place. If my parents supposedly want to help me, why are they sending me to a place where people act like they hate me? They probably do. Everyone hates me, I just want to die. 7

As I walked into the gym I realised one thing: everyone was doing push ups and up downs. It didn't appear that they did much else. They just kept going and going and going. How could they do that? I would DIE!8

"Murphy! Get your little white ass over here. I want to see what you can do." A blue mat was laid on the floor over by the wall. My sargeant, who's name was Donnor, rather that was her last name, explained that this was a physical fitness test, and she wanted to see what I was capable of. Apperantly, I dissapointed her. All she did was look at me in a scowl and finally said,9

"Hit the tredmill and DON'T get off until I tell you to, got it?"10
