Finally I was comfortable. I had no thought of the life I live. Not a thing seemed to matter. There was no school, or parents, or even the thought of having to be in the presence of Rosetta. I felt as if I would be like this forever, and not have to worry about anything. But then this feeling started to drift away as I heard the voice of my mother calling my name.1
“Mel”2
I had cried myself to sleep as soon as I got home from school. I didn’t even take the time to remove the cloths the nurse gave me in place of the ink covered outfit I started the day in. As soon as my brain had fully recovered from my nap I remembered that my night with Rosetta was yet to come. I removed the cloths I was in and changed into a pair of jeans and a t-shirt.3
My mother had no idea of the ink incident from earlier that day, and I decided not to tell her. I knew it wouldn’t make any thing better, and she would still make me go to Rosetta’s no matter what I told her.4
The ride seemed like it lasted for two seconds. Within no time we pulled into Rosetta’s driveway. My mother said her goodbye, and I left the car without a word.5
Walking to her door I noticed there were no other cars in the driveway. I figured her parents were gone, but thought nothing of it. Reaching the door I knocked on it three times and waited. Inside I could hear the scramble of someone coming to the door. Then it opened and I was greeted by the face of Rosetta.6
“Mel, hey come in”7
Everything, including the way she talked seemed unreal, but the worst was her wide plastic smile. It was almost unbearable to look at. I said nothing back to her, and walked in.8
Entering the living room I was greeted bye Desire Jacobs, and Mandy Caulper. Two stuck up bitches that followed Rosetta every where she went. They both agreed with every thing she said.9
In fear that Rosetta might turn on them, and do…well the things she does.10
“So, are we ready to go” Rosetta said to the three of us standing in front of her.11
I was interested in where we were going, so I asked her.12
“Where exactly are we going?” 13
“There’s an old oil pump shack up behind my house.” she replied.14
“How far away is it?”15
“Far enough.”16
No one paid attention to what Rosetta said. They acted as if she said nothing at all. Right away I knew the evil thoughts in her head were the foundation for this trip. But not knowing exactly what was going to happen made it kind of exciting. So I proceeded to follow Rosetta, but cautiously.17
Reaching the back of her house there was trail that went straight into the woods. There was blackness all around, until Desire pulled out a flashlight and clicked it on. Now there was about a 3 foot circle lighting our path as we went forward.18
15 minutes after we started walking I noticed the ground began to climb. From the looks of it we were on an old logging trail, going up the side of a hill. We came to many forks and turns. Then finally we had reached a small tin building. In the inside of the building were 4 sleeping bags, and pillows.19
We unraveled our sleeping bags and laid them out on the dusty cement floor. There was still some suspicion as to what we were here for. Then Desire reached into her small duffle bag and brought out a deck of cards. She shuffled and dealt them, and when she was done we proceeded to play a game of go fish.20
“So this is why we came all the way out here. To play go fish?” I thought to myself. But I knew that this was not the intention of our visit, even if I didn’t know what the intentions were.21
Minutes crept bye and yet we continued to play go fish. While the three of them gossiped the whole time, I kept quiet. They knew I was not in the mood to talk so they left me alone.22
As the minutes flew bye I could feel my eyes getting heavy. So I laid my self out on the sleeping, and placed my head on the pillow. I began to think that maybe there was no evil plan. I felt tired very tired. It had to be at least 3:00 in the morning by now, so I decided to rest my eyes, while Rosetta, and the others still continued to play Go Fish, and gossip. Before I knew it I was asleep.23
I felt like my mind was being shot with an ice-sickle as coldness crept its way through my body. I opened my eyes and quickly realized where I was, so I turned my head around expecting to see the still three bodies of Rosetta, Desire and Mandy. But the room was completely empty.24
