Birth Of Destruction

This story takes place in the little grove in the forest. It’s right in the middle of the forest, in the city of Crystalline. The sun shines through the leaves, making everything sparkle emeralds. There’s this little area that has purple flowers, where the sun casts purple shadows and the glitter facets of them. It’s a magical place, where amazing things happen. Just beyond this, the City of Fey lays in dark shadows, where The Evil Ones live. Every fairy knows not to venture into this dark place. Most fey are pure of heart, but there are some who have hearts blacker than the night sky. This is a tale of horror, destruction, and sadness. If you are empathetic, it would be wise to not read any further, for awful things will be told.1

Prinny and Veria had just kissed for the first time, on the Leaf of The Enchanted Flower, when Prinny heard an awful noise. He blocked it out of his head because bad things couldn’t happen on this wonderful leaf. He knew it was a fluke, he was hearing things. The noise resembled that of nails on a chalkboard.2

He was hovering with Veria just above the magical leaf, embracing her in a comforting and loving way when darkness fell. He became alarmed, since night wasn’t due for a long time. All noise ceased, even the wind stilled. He knew something was wrong, but could say nothing before there was a flash of light and he lived no longer. Veria dodged a flash and screamed. She didn’t know what was happening, and flew as fast as she could to the city.3

She flew for so long her wings became tired, and she knew something was wrong because it didn’t take this long to get to the city. She knew there was a glamour on her when she realized this. She wanted so much to cry, but gathered the courage and stopped for a moment, just to catch her breath. The instant she stopped, a flash rushed past her and she heard a cackle in her ear. She screamed, taking off again even though her wings were about to fall off from the effort of survival.4

“Dezda!” screeched Borda. “We do not have time for dilly dally! Stop playing with the wench and kill her!” Everyone listened to Borda because she was the most powerful of Evil Fey, she was the leader, and for good reason. She could kill with just a stare and a powerful thought.5

Their mission was clear: Kill all Fey in the city, and take it over. They were tired of living in the shadows, and wanted to assume power. After they had killed everyone they didn’t want, they would round up all those remaining and convince them to join their side, by force or otherwise. Dezda really wanted to play, she enjoyed it. She was the one behind all the missing fey, the ones who ventured into the Enchanted Shadows and Dark Shadows had been toyed with and tortured by Dezda.6

“Ok,” she said, lifting the glamour and executed Veria by mumbling some words under her breath. She flew towards the sparkling city and thought of how it would look when they were done, she giggled, spreading darkness as they flew. Her wings were black, her skin iridescent white, glowing slightly in the dark. Being in Borda’s small circle of advisors, she flew just behind her.7

Elation grew as they neared Crystalline, excitement bubbled in her veins. The closer they got, the more fey they slaughtered, until bodies lay thick on the green forest floor. It was a grotesque painting of purple, pink, and blue wings, and black, white, and green bodies. Sunlight was splintered and reflected off of the natural glitter they wore. Their internal shine faded as they slowly slipped into oblivion. They circled the city, creating a small circle of light in the middle.8

They finally reached the main square and threw it into darkness, and Borda spoke. She commanded their attention by a single thought. “All of you, listen to me. Heed my voice or perish in flame and ice. Those who do not agree will be slaughtered where you hover, mark my words. Who does not stand by your new queen?” Slowly she entered their minds, and sought what she was looking for. Those who opposed her were encircled in a blue flame, their screams hideous in the dark.9

Those who agreed were transformed, their wings turned black and their skin iridescent white in a painful process, their shrieks of pain music to Dezda’s ears. Already the change on the city had begun. An eternal blue glow appeared in the city, casting dark, dancing shadows. Black vines grew on tree trunks, flowers died, and a hush fell over the city. The Birth of Evil was pending, snaking it’s way around, hissing it’s poisonous breath into the air, and hate-filled minds became puppets of it’s leader.10

Author notes

I know this is very very short, less than 900 words, but I think it's a beautiful story all the same.
