Blade of honor - exile

The Sword 1

Join me in a tale2

as the samurai does avail3

himself to determination4

honor and loyalty5

to see the course of right6

regardless of the cost 7

he shall prevail8

"Behold the man, daughter,9

of your professed love10

witness his true self11

Here is the thing 12

which you gave heart13

accept he is no man14

but an animal cast 15

in humane form"16

I can still see her face17

the sorrow in her eyes18

her voice19

as she condemned me20

I am lost inside21

My soul22

All that I thought I was,23

and am24

and shall ever be25

Shattered26

cast upon a cold wind.27

Compared to this28

death is a mercy29

The warrior retreated 30

defeated31

humiliated32

and without for the first time33

a sense of purpose34

Through the zen gardens 35

of his mind she came to him36

out of respect to what they were37

yet Giri would never let be38

defining him as student39

beneath equality.40

"These blades 41

of masamune42

are as keen and as strong43

as they were 800 years ago44

They are the soul of my family45

All that we are46

all that were47

and are yet to be48

our commitment 49

now null and void50

because we are not free51

to claim that which we want52

as wanton beasts."53

She left54

moving as graceful55

as a butterfly56

yet she had 57

truly stung him harder than any bee.58

"Again compared to this59

death would be a mercy"60

I should not have listened61

for in time these words will ring hollow62

but to the forested path63

like the beast 64

they claim me to be65

I must follow.66

(end exile)67

To be continued in the (forested memories)
