The girls walked side by side through the light rain under a large umbrella. Sarah clutched a brown paper bag tightly to her chest, under an abnormally baggy grey sweatshirt. Her boots sunk down into the mud as she marched through the rain. Molly stepped lightly and gracefully, avoiding getting muddy.2
As they approached a small cottage, Sarah shivered a little. She knew that she should have been used to the cold by this point, but the dreary bone-numbing chill got the better of her. Molly knocked on the door a few times with her small fist. When there was no reply, she knocked again.3
The girls glanced at eachother as they heard a soft whimper from within the shack. Sarah pushed open the door to see a frail frame on the floor near the cold hearth. Molly rushed to the elderly man's side. Sarah jumped on the telephone.4
"Jack? It's Molly. Sarah's here too. We're getting help right now. What happened? Are you okay?" Molly said to Jack in a motherly tone as she helped him to sit up.5
"I...can't feel my arms or legs. And my body-" Jack paused for a fit of hacking. Sarah returned to her sister's side. "My body hurts real bad. I dunno what's wrong..."6
A knock at the front door announced the arrival of help. Sarah went to admit Ms. Frish and the Home's doctor.7
"Hmm...okay, Jack. What I need you to do is to follow me to the car. Can you walk? Alright, one of you girls, help him. Okay, now lets get you somewhere warm, we can drive to my house. You're lucky that the girls found you when they did, or you may not have been so lucky."8
Sarah and Molly only blushed as Jack beamed at them. The look on his face was worth all of the cold and dreary walks through the rain in the world.9
