"What grade are you in?" He asked her. She stumbled over her words.2
"Ninth," She responded. "You?"3
"Tenth, I am actually supposed to be in the eleveth."4
"Same here." She said trying to get close to him. Just to try to touch hi again. She edged closer and closer still. "I got held back in the seventh grade. When did you fail or whatever?" She asked. He unconciously took a step back, and he leaned up against the wall to her dismay.5
"Eighth grade, I actually failed. I hate failure." He said and looked at the ground and kicked a loose rock across the cement walk. 6
They spent all lunch talking and being together. The bell rang signilaing the end of lunch time. Her heart fell apart. Her high spirits dissipated. She didn't want to leave the comforts of his sights. She wanted him to hold her, she wanted him to play with her hair, to tell her he loved her. She wanted her dreams to come true. She wanted to be with him. She would do anything to be with him to even be near him. She felt wonderful with him.7
To her surprise before they departed he walked next to her.8
"What class do you have next?" He asked her sadly.9
"Biology." He seemed to smile a little bit out of comfort. "What do you have?" 10
"Weight lifting. I don't have to be there on time, the coach gets there after I do normally." He said to her, Walking next to her.11
His hand accidently grazed hers and she wanted to hold his hand, somehow out of pure habit, as if it were natural to hold his hand. She almost did, she would have if it hadn't been for her boyfriend, someone would have told him. So she didn't. She felt so bad because she didn't.12
When they got to the classroom door this is when her heart truly fell and shattered to pieces. She knew that if he wanted to be with her then they would have to break-up. She didn't want to do it, so she would let him do it. High school relationships don't last long anyway, don't they?13
She felt extreme comfort with him, and she was willing to make that last14
