Prophecy of Heaven - Chapter Three

Chapter Three1

The Angel's Voice2

Lyhavien was at the spring again. The water almost seemed to massage his sore body. He remembered how him and Norriul would play for hours there. Jumping in and out of the water, seeing who could make the biggest splash. They had done that constantly as boys. Or race all the way from the spring to the church to see who could run the fastest. Before Norriul had left, that had still done things like that. Once in the winter the spring froze up and Norriul and Lyhavien had tried to walk on it but got their feet stuck to it, like glue. They had laughed at themselves so hard to start with. But when the cold started to get to them they pulled desperately at their legs to try to release it from the ice. Eventually they had started a fire by grabbing some of the stuff around them and melted the ice enough to release their feet. Lyhavien laughed at the memory and smiled. Remembering the good old times. Hopefully Norriul would come back soon and they could have more adventures and do more incredibly stupid things that they could look back on in the future. Lyhavien got out of the spring, put on his clothes and headed home. It was a little later than he usually stayed there and he didn't want his parents to worry. When he stepped into the house his mom smiled and her eyes sparkled. "Something came for you today," she said simply and her eyes looked over at the table. Sitting on top was a letter. It was from Norriul. Lyhavien looked back at his mom with a huge smile on his face, as if to confirm that the letter was real, it was really there and it was from Norriul. She grinned and went back to doing whatever she had been doing before he had arrived. Lyhavien urgently grabbed the letter and tore it open. This is what it said:3

My dearest friend,4

This is truly an adventure. I feel sorry knowing you are not here with me. We were in a storm! Seriously, it was amazing. Scared me half to death at one point, but that's part of why it was so excited. Though I am starting to wonder how long it will take us to reach our destination. We have been off course for some time now. We've been blown by the wind to far south. And when we pulled the sails down then waves came which also blew us south. We are going south-west right now. Which is quite a way from where we planned. I have no idea when we will see land. We have seen no land so far. Just endless stretches of ocean. Many of the men are worried sick and pray they reach land safely. They are all scared, but I am not. Though I am lonely. I wish you were here. Most of the passengers think I am just a "silly little boy" because I'm not as scared as they are. I saw a whale the other day. A real whale! It was amazing. I don't know what kind it was but the captain says those types of whales are common in this area. The whale was huge. I had always heard whales were big, but I never thought that they were so very large as they actually are! I hope I see more wonderful creatures soon. It is very late in the night so I had better sleep now. Write soon my friend.5

Norriul6

"He has seen a whale, mother!" Lyhavien exclaimed.7

"A whale? My goodness," she said and stirred the pot of food she had over the fire.8

"I'm going to write a letter in reply."9

"Eat first," she told him and gave him some food. He ate very quickly and then hurried to his room to write a letter back to Norriul. Lyhavien wrote a long letter back to his friend and told his mom to have it sent first thing in the morning. When he went back into his room he saw that one of his books were open. He didn't remember opening it, but it was a book about the story that Arthur had told him so much when he was small. He picked it up and looked at where it was at. It was the page that had the poem about the one who would find the sword that the Creator had made. The poem read:10

Born is the mortal who shall be the Chosen One,11

Who will arrive in the form of an only child and only son,12

Born with wild hair of the darkest shade,13

Whom by his best friend, shall one day be betrayed,14

Adventurous at heart, strong of the mind,15

Who's rare pure good heart is very hard to find,16

A good child, a child fair, a child tall,17

He stands out and can be identified by some but not all,18

Shy and kind, stubborn and humble,19

He will stay strong, though he may stumble,20

Though not perfect, he shall prevail,21

His sure heart and ready mind will never fail,22

For the goodness of his own kind, he must succeed,23

He will be given an army, and with faith, he must lead.24

Lyhavien nodded. He had read that poem many times. As a joke him and Norriul would argue about which of them might be the one to find the Weapon. Sometimes they would even wonder if they knew someone who would be the one to find it. But time passed and they never heard about anyone finding The Weapon, which was a disappointment. Thinking about the poem, Lyhavien climbed into bed. He thought about Norriul and hoped the letter he wrote to him would reach Norriul soon. He looked out his window at the stars. Lyhavien and Norriul had named a lot of constellations. They knew they really had names that were given to them by other people. But as kids they loved making up names by themselves. Or simply memorizing where some were "there's the dog!" Norriul would say.25

"And there's the dragon!" Lyhavien would say right after. Nobody else could understand what they were talking about, but they knew and that's all that mattered. Lyhavien turned back around and laid down. He stared up at his ceiling which was very flat and very boring. There was a spider web in the corner which was occupied by a small black spider. Lyhavien yawned and closed his eyes.26

"Who should talk to him?" Leolinus asked.27

"You," Alitia said.28

"Why me?"29

"Because you are a man, like him."30

"But he's seen you, in the spring, remember?"31

"Yes, so?"32

"And not only that, but you've been so interested in him. You are the one who has your heart set and continue to insist he is the Chosen One. Not me."33

"Very well. I'll go."34

"When?"35

"Soon," Alitia replied.36

Lyhavien held a carrot and an apple and he headed into the stable. His father had brought him along to the stable today and Lyhavien wanted to give Benadonian something special. Benadonian neighed as Lyhavien approached. Benadonian stretched his head over his stall door and tried to touch Lyhavien. Lyhavien pulled his hand which held the carrot from behind his back and Benadonian neighed again eagerly. Lyhavien held the carrot out to Benadonian and Benadonian took it from Lyhavien and nibbled on it greedily. But he knew there was something better coming. He looked at Lyhavien and gave him those sad eyes and Lyhavien showed Benadonian the apple. "Do you want the apple, Benadonian?" Lyhavien asked him. Benadonian neighed and nodded his head as if he understood. Lyhavien laughed and threw the apple into the air. Benadonian caught it on it's way down and bit into it happily. After finishing the apple Benadonian nuzzled Lyhavien fondly as if thanking him for the snacks. Lyhavien gave Benadonian a hug and patted his back. Before anyone would see he walked away from Benadonian and took care of some of the things that needed to be done.37

After working he ate dinner when he went home. Then helped his mom wash the clothes. Men didn't usually help with things like that but Lyhavien helped anyways. Then when he was to sore to do anything more, he crawled into bed.38

Lyhavien heard someone saying his name and he opened his eyes. His father was there, with a broad smile on his face. "I have something for you," He said.39

"What?" Lyhavien asked quickly, becoming fully awake.40

"This," his father said and dropped something onto the bed. Lyhavien looked down and there was a puppy looking up at him.41

"Thank you, father," Lyhavien said as he looked at the little puppy wiggling around on his lap.42

"Your welcome." His father replied and headed out the door to go back downstairs. "Oh, and it's a girl."43

"Okay." Lyhavien said and nodded. What would he name her then? She was a golden color and her eyes were brown, the same as Lyhavien's. He looked down at her, her tongue was hanging out and she was breathing loudly. She looked happy. He picked her up and rubbed her on the top of her head. "What should I name you?" He asked her, as if she'd answer. She barked in reply. Lyhavien smiled and decided to have her meet Benadonian. Maybe they would become good friends. So after dressing he picked up his new puppy up and took her to his father's stable. Benadonian could see the expression on Lyhavien's face and knew he brought a surprise. When Benadonian saw the puppy he nuzzled and sniffed her. Then he licked her face. Lyhavien smiled, they were getting along. They were very similar in color too. But her color was more intense than Benadonian's. The puppy put both her paws on Benadonian's nose and barked. She wagged her tail and climbed onto his head. She went too fast for Lyhavien to catch her. She slid down Benadonian's neck and sat down on his back. Benadonian turned his head and nudged the puppy with his muzzle. Lyhavien reached over the door of Benadonian's stall and grabbed the puppy. Lyhavien patted Benadonian and took the puppy back to the house.44

"Would you mind helping at the stable? The hay needs to be replaced, the horses need to be fed, exercised..." His father said.45

"Sure," Lyhavien replied. "Mom, can you watch her?" He asked referring to the puppy.46

"Yes," his mom replied. So he followed his father back to the stable again and got to work.47

It was after dark now and he only had two more horses to exercise. His father already went home but asked Lyhavien if he could finish up before going home. Lyhavien agreed of course. As Lyhavien rode the last horse back into his stall after exercise he closed the door. But then he saw something he'd never forget. When he turned around, he saw an angel. "Hello, Lyhavien," She said, her voice was soft and fluid. It seemed almost delicate, but it was also soothing, like music.48

"Y-y-your the one that I saw at the spring!"49

"Ah, yes," she admitted.50

"Why are you here?" He asked.51

She smiled. "You are the Chosen One," she replied simply.52

"The Chosen One? To do what?"53

"In the prophecy. The one that Arthur has told you so many times since you were a child."54

"That was you who opened the book, wasn't it?"55

She nodded, "Yes, indeed."56

"Who are you and how do you know so much about me?" He asked.57

"I am the angel Alitia, one of the angels still under the order of the Creator. I have been watching you, Lyhavien. Ever since you were born, I have watched you. From the moment I saw you I knew you were the one that would find the Weapon."58

"No, your joking, right? I-I-I can't be the Chosen One. I mean, Norriul and I always joked about it, but we weren't serious."59

"Well, now you have reason be serious," she said.60

"No, you've got the wrong person. It can't be me. It just can't be."61

"It is. You must believe it, Lyhavien. The future of mankind rests on your shoulders."62

"But I -"63

"I take leave of you now, I will come again tomorrow. Think about this," she said, then just as quickly as she had come, she disappeared. Lyhavien stood there for a minute, at loss of words. Not knowing what to say. He closed the door to the stable, then he started walking home, thinking of the angel's voice. It was one he thought he had heard before. Somewhere. He sighed. When he opened the door, the puppy barked and came running to him. Trying to stand up, putting her paws on Lyhavien's leg. Then he knew what her name would be.64

"Thought of a name yet?" His father asked.65

"Yes, I have," He replied and smiled.66

"Well, what is it?" His father asked after a minute, when he got no answer.67

"Angel."68
