Tennessee Whiskey and Sappire Dreams chapter 4

1

The bar begin to fill up later that evening as Sapphire stood on stage wearing a pair of blue jeans and a green "Tennesse Whiskey" shirt. She was so nervous it was her big night. The night she made one dream come true, and in a week, she would make the other one come true. She started out singing some of the older classic country songs. Everyone listened in anticipation.2

Diablo listened as he sat with Kobe. The turn out of people were astounding and all giving donations to help with Sapphire's doctor bills. 3

She would not let her mother pay for it with her father's money. He was so caught up in listening to her sing that he did not see the man walk up beside the table until Kobe nudged him. He looked up to see the brown twinkling eyes of his brother, Diego.4

" Hey, baby brother." Diego spoke as he sat beside Diablo. " Who is the fine chick you have singing for you?"5

" My fiancee." Diablo answered as he looked at her. She was singing an old Tanya Tucker classic " Delta Dawn"6

" Your what?" Diego sputtered as Thor brought Diego a beer and Diablo another glass of tea.7

" When did you quit drinking beer?" Diego questioned Diablo making Diablo stare at his brother. He had not seen Diego in five years, and now he wanted to waltz in like he had a right too.8

" A lot has changed in the past five years. I found the woman I love and nothing can change that fact. I want a better life for my children then we had from Grandpa." Diablo stated as he raised his tea to Sapphire. She smiled at him. She started to sing "Any Man of Mine" by Shania Twain. Everyone was listening with admiration at the young woman who had disruppted their life, and took them by storm.9

" Have you ever told her what happened when you were sixteen, baby brother. I am sure she would not like that from the way she is looking at you. I think you have her blindsided." Diego smirked as he brought up the one thing in Diablo's past that he would never forget.10

" My marriage to Sapphire is none of your business as for the past, after everything she has been through she would understand, and still love me." Diablo spoke but wondered in his heart if it was true. Would she forgive him if she found out about the only other woman in his life?"11

Now that Diego was here He would have to tell her about that time. Kobe looked at the brothers and knew that something was fixing to erupt. He motioned Thor for another beer, as Sapphire motioned Diablo up to the stage. He stood looking at no one but her. He loved her so much, his heart ached with it. He walked to the stage where Sapphire motioned him to a barstool that she had been sitting on when she sang. He sat down and she started singing " Its your love." He knew the Faith Hill and Tim McGraw love song real well. He motioned for another microphone and when Tim was supposed to sing. Diablo came in singing his part making Sapphire turn to look at him with amazement. He smiled at her, his eyes shone with pride. They sang the duet making the entire bar quieten down and listen. None of his friends knew that he could sing, but this time he wanted to show his love to the only one that mattered to him.12

" I am going to take a little break now." Sapphire spoke softly as she clutched Diablo's hand. " I will be back"13

The jukebox came on as Diablo helped her off stage motioning her mother to bring them a soda, as he directed her to the office.14

He shut the door behind them and she threw herself in his arms.15

" Thank you, darling." She kissed him with excitement, but he let her go as he moved behind his desk.16

"  I need to tell you something about me that may make you hate me before I introduce you to my brother." Diablo spoke softly making her sat in a chair across from him, knowing that this was very important.17

" I could never hate you, My Diablo, not in this life." She told him as he looked up with hope in his eyes as the office door opened her mother came in carrying two glasses of tea, she saw the hurt shining through Diablo's eyes and knew that it had something to do with that hateful brother of his. "Let me get out of your way." Emerald annouced as she handed the glasses to them.18

" No mom, I would like for you to hear this as well. You will be part of our family that is if Sapphire will still marry me when I tell her."19

" When I was sixteen, I met this woman who was twenty-three. Her name was Arianna, She was so beautiful. She hired me that summer to work on her house, her husband was gone a lot on business." Diablo started the tail that haunted him all of his life. " She flirted with me and at the time I was young, and did not know exactly what it was she wanted from me."20

He had to stand so he got up and started pacing his office.21

" It wasn't long before she hinted at what she wanted from me. She wanted to sleep with me. She was disgusted because her husband was never home, and wanted me to take his place. I thought I was in love and I slept with her many times."22

" It was about six months after we started the affair that her husband come home one day early, and found us together. He came after me with a gun and we struggled over it. It went off in the struggle and killing him instantly. I found out that a month later after it was declared an accidental shooting that she was pregnant and had an abortion killing my child."23

Sapphire sat stunned at the declaration, but she did not hate him. It made her love him more for telling her.24

" Diablo, come here please." She whispered and he walked to her dropping to his knees in front of her. She caught his chin raising his face to look at her. 25

" I do not hate you, nor will ever hate you. I hate her for the pain she caused you. You were young and she took advantage of you."26

She heard the sobs of joy erupt from him as he laid his head on her lap and cried. She stroked his hair. Neither of them noticed when her mother left the room.27

She felt the tears in her eyes for his hurt.28

" Thank you, Fire, for loving me so much." He whispered as he stood to his feet. He helped her up to her feet. She raised her hand caressing his cheek.29

" You do not have to thank me not ever in your life." Sapphire responded softly tenderness filled her voice as he captured her lips with his.30

" I do not deseve you." He told her as he led her to the door.31

" You deserve so much more." She spoke so lovingly that he stopped to look at her.32

" You might not think that when you meet my brother, Diego." He responded making her giggle as he led her through the door.33

" Tis all right, I can handle him." she giggled as he nodded to her34

" I know that is right." He agreed with her remembering when she got the best of him.35

Diego saw them approaching the table and could have sworn there were tears in his eyes. He wondered what they had been up to behind close doors.36

" Diego, this is my lovely fiancee, Sapphire Mckay. This is my brother, Diego James." Diablo introduced them as Thor came up swinging Sapphire around in his arms. " Way to go, Little Red, such a beautiful voice."37

Diego stared at Thor in amazement. He had never known Thor to even like women. " Hey Thor, How you been doing?" Diego asked making Thor look at him with amusement in his eyes. 38

" Great since I met the two most wonderful women." Thor responded as he slapped Diablo on the back. " Great voice there buddy, didn't know you had it in you."39

" Love can make you do anything." Diablo laughed as Emerald came up beside them.40

" Yes, even kill." Diego commented making Sapphire mad at the heartless way he treated Diablo.41

" Some it can turn someone in to a jackass." She spat looking at Diego.42

" I take it that was directed to me?" Diego asked with laughter in his eyes.43

" I think it was directed for you, because that is how you have been acting every since you got here." Emerald informed him as she walked up to Diablo.44

" Son, We all learn from our mistakes. You have learned for yours and have grown from it. I think as your soon to be mother-in-law  in my eyes  "You are a great man." 45

" Why don't you run away and marry me?" Diego asked Sapphire making Diablo fill with anger. Sapphire looked at him so sweetly. 46

" I wouldn't have you on a gold platter with a silver spoon in your mouth. You have nothing I want or would even like to have not even if you offered me the world." She laughed making Diego turn red with anger.47

" You would never know unless you tried it." He stated harsly as she looked at him.48

" I tell you what why don't you stand up like a man and offer it to me." 49

Sapphire dared making him jump to his feet. One minute she was in his arms and the next he was on the floor. " I love your brother, Either behave or get out."50

" My brother will not kick me out." Diego told her as he dusted himself off.51

" You can either respect my fiancee, Diego, or you can go back to wherever you have been for the past five years." Diablo said with authority.52

" Fine, I will leave. I do not need you any more than you need me." Diego spat at him. He turned around and walked out of the door.53

Diablo sighed as he sat down pulling Sapphire on his lap. " I do not know why Diego hates me so much. He has always been that way towards me."54

" Jealousy, my dear." Emerald spoke quickly then walked away to tend the bar.55

Diablo sat down with a sigh it had always been a fight with his brother from the time he was a baby until now. It looked like it would always be a fight. Sapphire went back on stage and started singing again as Diablo and Kobe went back to the office to finish the book work. 56

It was going to be a long night. Diablo thought he would lose Sapphire when her of his past but it only made her love him more. He was high on her love. 57

Four hours later the bar closed and Diablo found himself alone with her. 58

He picked her up and carried her to the apartment as he turned out the lights on the way. They went straight to the bedroom never stopping for anything but the passion only the equal could bring them. The love their hearts shared bursted into a fiery flame burning them with a frenzied lovemaking. 59

Diablo pulled her in his arms as he cut out the light, leaving them surrounded in darkness but each one knew the others body so well. They had each curve and each hard muscle memorized, etched in their brain.60

He would never get enough from her. He was just about asleep when his cell phone rang.61

Diablo answered it to find Diego on the other end of the line.62

" I am at the cabin but I do not have a key. Will you please bring me yours?" Diego asked him, and Diablo agreed, he shook Sapphire who was sound asleep. He told her of his call and that he would be back soon. 63

Diablo dressed quietly not wanting to wake her, leaving but not wanting to leave.64

Diego watched Diablo leave the bar and smiled to himself this would work out perfect. He would get even with Diablo once and for all. He walked over to the bar, picking the lock to get in. One by one he took the stairs quietly, not wanting to wake Sapphire. 65

Two hours later Diablo pulled into the driveway of the cabin. He looked around for his brother. When he didn't find him he wondered what he was up to. Diablo made his return trip, when he pulled into the alley he noticed the bedroom light on. Sapphire must have decided to wait up on him. He smiled to himself wanting to feel her passion once again. He hurried his steps, finding the bedroom door closed he wondered what was up until he opened the door to find Diego in bed with his fiancee. Sapphire was asleep but Diego was watching television.66

" What the hell is going on here?" Diablo yelled making Sapphire sat up in bed to look around. She spotted Diego in the bed and screamed at him67

" What the hell are you doing in our bed?" 68

" Don't look so innocent Red." Diego spoke softly " You have yourself one hot firecracker. You can have her back, but just remember when you kiss her you will be wondering if she is thinking of you or me." Diego stated as he stood up still fully dressed and walked out of the bedroom.69

Diablo heard the slam of the door of the bar. He did not know what to feel. He just stood stunned remembering the sight of his brother and Sapphire in their bed. He now knew what the husband felt when he was sixteen.70

" Did you enjoy it?" Diablo asked her awaiting her answer.71

Sapphire sat in shock, clutching the covers to her chest. 72

" I do not even know what is going on?" She cried softly.73

" All I remember is you telling me something about going to the cabin, and then I felt you climb back in bed. I thought it was you. I thought you had changed your mind."74

" Did he kiss you?" Diablo burned with jealousy, anger directed at her.75

" I do not know." Sapphire sat in a pool of tears, not understanding what had fully happened, or how Diego got in to their bed.76

The tears soon became tears of anger. " I do not know what happened or how he got into bed with me, and yet your the one who is mad at me?" She shouted at him.77

" What should I do?" Diablo roared making her jump up and get dressed quickly. 78

" You could trust me, but no you are going to believe Diego, and think he made love to me. I think I would know if another man touched me besides you because it would have felt differently then yours which would have alerted me that something was wrong, so no he never touched me. He just wanted you to think he did to break us up." She picked up her purse and started past him.79

" Where do you think your going?" Diablo snapped out of his shock as he dogged her heels.80

" I do not know, but I am going somewhere away from you right now." She screamed at him, making him flinch at her remarks.81

Sapphire spotted Diego satting on a barstool smiling at the havoc he had caused in their lives. She started to pass him without speaking, but changed her mind. The fist caught him square in the jaw knocking him of his seat. Diego landed on the floor with a thud.82

" I don't know why you decided to do what you did to me. I have never hurt you like you did us tonight. Diablo is the most sweetest man, but thanks to you it is over." Sapphire spit with fury as Diego rubbed his jaw.83

" What no goodbye kiss?" He taunted to her as she walked out into the nights air. Diablo watched her leave in disbelief, and started to follow as Diego stood to his feet.84

" You going to chase after her?" Diego questioned making Diablo walk to him. 85

Diablo's fist connected with Diego's other jaw making him hit the floor again.86

" You can get the hell out of my life as soon as you stand up." Diablo thundered making Diego stare at him. " I do not ever want you to come near me again, or next time I will not let you leave so intact."87

" Your going to let a little peice of fluff come between us, Diablo?" Diego sneered at his baby brother.88

" No, but I am going to let my fiancee. She has shown me more love than you have ever shown me, and I don't need you. I haven't needed you for the last five years, and I dont need you now." Diablo roared making Diego drop on the barstool.89

" You always swore you would never marry after the way that bastard done our mother. I thought I was helping you out of a bad situation." Diego spoke solemnly, his head dropping in shame.90

" If I had not wanted to marry her, I wouldn't marry her. You have a lot of nerve, Diego, You don't even know what love is all about and I didn't either until I met Sapphire. Now thanks to you, She wouldn't have me back."91

Diablo walked outside to see if he could see her, figuring that she went to her mother, but realized his car was missing. He sighed to himself. He had to find her and admit what a jerk he was for assuming the worst, but he also knew his brother.92

Sapphire drove through Clarksville, Tennessee. The tears in her eyes blurred her vision. She did not know where she was going, just as far away from her heart as she could get. She pulled into the truck stop just sitting for a minute, collecting herself before she went inside. Her tears stopped but her heart ached, and then she wondered why she even left because he would just chase her down. Sapphire went inside buying a drink, and then turned the car around, heading back to Nashville.93

She pulled into the alley beside the bar by sunrise, she took her time not wanting to seem to be in a rush to get back to the one who stomped her heart. She locked the doors and laid her head back on the head rest now wanting to wake someone, and drifted off to dream of the one that she did not want to dream about. He could have trusted her.94

Emerald walked by the car, later that morning. She did a double take at Sapphire sleeping in the car. She had heard the commotion, and didn't know exactly what went wrong but was sure it had to do with that Diego.95

She walked inside the bar finding Diablo looking like death, and Diego holding an ice pack on his jaw. Diablo looked up at her when she entered then dropped his head down again as he kept pacing the floor.96

" Would you care to tell me why Sapphire is sleeping in your car in the alley?" Emerald asked him making his head snap up and stare at her.97

" What did you say?" He questioned with disbelief. " Sapphire is in my car?"98

" Yes, Diablo, I do not know exactly what went on here, but that is between Sapphire and you." Emerald spoke to the empty air. Diablo was out the door walking to his car.99

" It is all my fault, Mrs. Mckay." Diego admitted sheepishly. " I thought I was helping Diablo, instead I hurt them both."100

" I should tan your hide." Emerald grunted as she walked past him, leaving him to stew in his own shame.101

Diablo came back inside carrying a sleeping Sapphire. She woke when he shut the door. She started squirming trying to get down from his arms, but he wouldn't put her down until he reached the chair and sat down putting her down on his lap.102

" Sit still." Diblo commanded roughly making Sapphire stop squirming around. " Diego would like to tell you something and then you and I are 103

going to talk." He informed her. Sapphire tried to speak but Diablo placed his finger across his lips.104

" I do not want you to speak, Fire, I know you have a tongue on you. I want you to listen and if I have to gag you, I will." 105

Diego stood up then walked to her. He sat down across from them.106

" Sapphire, I am not to good with apologies, but I owe you one. What I did was mean, irresponible, and childish. I hurt you and Diablo. I have apologized to him. I am sorry for the hurt. I wished I could take it back, but I can not do that, please forgive me."107

Sapphire stared at him with anger. Diablo moved his fingers to let her speak afraid she might bite them.108

" That is all." She shrilled at Diego. " It was childish, mean, irresponsible, and I am sorry." 109

" What more do you want?" Diego asked her softly, as Diablo let her stand to her feet.110

" A better apology for one thing. Your not six years old anymore, and this was not a childish prank. You deliberately set out to destroy my relationship with your brother, and I deserve to know why you felt you had to send him on a wild goose chase, and climb in bed with me?" She screamed with heartache.111

" I was jealous." He spoke to her. " I was jealous as hell that he had the one thing I have been wanting myself. The love of a good woman. Diablo always swore that he would never marry after he found out how our father done our mother, but that is his story to tell. I thought that you had suckered him into marrying you, until I realized after you left that he was indeed in love with you."112

" Yea right." She hurt so she wanted to hurt someone. 113

" He told me to get out of his life and never come back. He has never done that before over a woman." Diego admitted to her. " It drove him crazy the entire time you have been gone. He would pace then glare at me."114

" Diego, you do not have to take up for me with Fire. I will state my side as soon as she accepts your apology." Diablo stood up walking away from the table. He needed some tea, before he started crying again. He had never cried in his life until he met the fiery red hair that brought him so much joy as she took over his life like a whirlwind.115

Sapphire watched him walk away, and sat down again. She was wore out and wanted some sleep.116

" Look, I am sorry I did not trust you." Diego stated to her as he picked up the ice pack replacing it on his jaw.117

" It doesn't matter anymore. I can not marry someone who doesn't trust me." She declared as tears filled her eyes.118

" He does trust you, it was me he didn't trust." Diego admitted making her look at him. " It reminded him of Arianna and her husband. He told me he had never once felt himself in that man's shoes but tonight he was ready to kill me. Oscar was the same way over Arianna. He loved her but she just loved his money."119

" I accept your apology, Diego, but if you ever try to hurt him again. I am going to whoop your butt."120

" Once is enough. My jaw is still smarting from where you and Diablo both punched me."121

She giggled alerting Diablo that everything was fine between her and Diego. He picked up a bottle of wine and walked towards her.122

" Sapphire will you please come with me?" He asked softly making her heart melt. She nodded as she took his hand then walked with him expecting him to go to his office. She was wrong, He led them up the stairs to the apartment. Sapphire watched as they entered the apartment. Diablo took the bottle of wine putting it in the refridgerator to chill.123

He came back leading her to the couch. She sat down as he knelt before her.124

" Please let me say what I have to say before you interrupt me." His voice filled with desire to have her stay with him. Sapphire nodded as he raised his long fingers caressing her cheek.125

" I am sorry I acted the way I did last night but when I walked in the bedroom and found Diego in my side. I knew it was his doing but it hit me that after all the years, I have put the past behind me I had never found myself in Oscar's shoes. I knew what he had felt that night he caught Arianna in bed with me." He took her hand placing it on his cheek.126

" It stunned me to even think of it, and I was stupid. I do not believe any of what I said, and you know that, baby. I just was broadsided by the pain of what I did to Oscar, and Diego knew I would be. I treated you badly but if you end it with me. I would never be the same man without you. I would be part of a shell, a cold empty shell. I need your love, I need your spirit, but most of all I need our souls united once again so I know you are truly with me." His passionate plea awed her, and she could barely speak to him.127

" I am yours, I got as far as Clarksville, and wondered why I left without a fight. I am lost without you. You have come into my heart and without you I am nothing, you make me whole."128

Diablo kissed her as he pulled her closer to him. Their tongues united with love and desire as they pulled each others clothes off in a frenzied fashion. He moved over her, their mouths never uttering a word, but their bodies talking the lover's language of old. He found his place and entered her softly, tenderly. She smiled at his entrance and felt her body come alive again. Diablo stroked her as her hands carressed his body already know each place on him so well. 129

She knew what he wanted the same as she did that sweet release only the other could bring. The tidal wave of love that would take them over the top covering all the hurt, and mistrust; building them a future together. 130

Sapphire bucked her hips meeting him thrust for thrust, and moaned his name as she felt the tingling sensation that in her heart knew he was the only one that could make her feel this way.131

Diablo was falling as he moaned, over the edge of her love. He felt the tightening in his body, and could not wait for the day that he could see her body swollen with his love gift.132

He went with the flow as his body took over, and knew she was his life, his heart and his desire. He stroked one more time before he collapsed on her chest. He lay spent on top of her as she stroked his body softly.133
