Tennessee Whiskey and Sapphire Dreams Chapter 3

Diablo slowly helped Sapphire to the door and through the apartment.2

He helped her slowly down the stairs, She heard her mother stop talking, looking up she found Thor, Kobe and her mother staring at her in amazement. Sapphire giggled making Diablo laugh his eyes dancing with love. Thor smiled at the couple making their way towards them. 3

" Honey, when did you start walking again?" Emerald asked her youngest daughter.4

" Diablo, um, gave me a spanking and I actually felt it." Sapphire blushed as Diablo helped her sit down in the chair.5

" I was mad when I saw the tattoo." Diablo laughed making a face at Sapphire.6

" Yes until, I told him it was temporary." Sapphire giggled at him, sticking her tongue out childishly.7

Diablo walked behind the bar fixing her a soda. He took it to her and then picked her up, sitting her on his knees as if she were a child.8

" Before you even have a chance to disagree. We will be married in one weeks time." Diablo stated passionately making Sapphire's eyes fill with tears. 9

" Who says I would disagree?" Sapphire questioned softly taking a drink of her soda.10

" You did before, darling." He reminded her making her sat her drink down on the table with a thud.11

" I thought you only wanted to marry me because of my father. I mean you never told me you loved me." Sapphire looked him in the eyes, making him frown.12

" I never told you that I loved you, because I really did not honestly know it until you were shot. I came to the hospital to get you that this morning to tell you that I loved you only to have you tell me you were going back to Texas." He stated making her clasp his hand.13

" I am so sorry, darling, but I did not want you to marry me.  I mean I did not even know if I would ever get the feeling back in my legs and I did not want you to have to take care of you." She protested as she stood up. " I mean I didn't even know if I could feel you making love to me, and if I couldn't feel that than I could have never married you because I would have hated myself in the long run."  14

She knelt slowly in front of him, catching his hand in her own. 15

" I know now that I can feel and if I do not ever get all the feeling back. I can still feel as you love me. I needed a job when I first walked in here, and when I met you. I felt the world slip away from me. If for no other reason but for me meeting you, I need to thank my dad for his interference in my life. I can live without him, but I could never live without you. I have a ring that belonged to my grandfather, Holden Gemmison. Will you marry me?" Sapphire looked at him, hoping he would answer the right answer. The answer to her heart.16

Diablo stared at her with softness in his eyes. He carressed her cheek tenderly. " My love, I never asked you to marry me, I just sort of commanded it. Yes, I will marry. I could not live without you. When I thought that I had lost you this morning. I felt that my world was gone. My life has no meaning without you." Sapphire slipped the ring on his finger, and he reached in his blue jeans pocket, pulling out the velvet case. " I had this made for you. It represents your family. The sapphire in the middle is yours, their is the stone for each of your sisters. The emerald in the middle is for your mother." He took it out, and slid it on her finger. " It is so beautiful." 17

Em walked over to the couple. " Darling daughter, I am proud for you. You have a good man that grandpa Holden would be proud of to be in the family."18

" When are you leaving, mother?" Sapphire asked her mother, hoping she would be here for her marriage. Emerald sat down beside her daughter.19

" I am not leaving, Sapphire." Emerald told her as Diablo smiled at his intended bride. " Diablo is going to let me live in his house. He said I could stay until I found me a house. I just can not live in my home any longer not after the way your father could do you. My whole marriage to that man was a sham. The only good thing that came out of that marriage is the fact that I had such lovely daughters."20

" Mama, I am so happy. I did not want you to leave." Sapphire hugged her mother.21

" Your other sisters do not need me, and when they found out that you were fine. They left for home, I just do not fit in with their families, but I feel at home here with you. Diamond is getting the house so if you need any of your things you left. I will have her ship them to you." Emerald motioned Thor. He brought her a glass of tea. Diablo looked stunned for a second at Thor.22

" I know I only left you in charge this morning but when did we start selling Ice Tea?" Diablo questioned making Thor blush.23

" You are not selling it." Emerald answered with laughter in her voice. " I just suggested to Thor that it would be nice to have ice tea and sodas for the employees that did not drink."24

" Who are the employees that do not drink?" Diablo questioned  with amusement in his tone. 25

" I am for one, and Thor told me he was tired of drinking." Emerald replied smugly. 26

" I am confused." Diablo scratched his chin making Sapphire giggle. 27

" When is it that I hired you?"28

" You didn't but your co-owner, Thor hired me this morning. I am your new cleaning crew, and I will also cook for all of you a three meals a day." Emerald boasted to her new future son-in-law, proud of having her first job.29

" My co-owner?" Diablo looked at Thor, who came around the bar.30

" Look you were dealing with other issues, and when mom talked about it I hired her kind of for you, because I could not say no to her" Thor announced to Diablo.31

" I am the one who is going to be her son-in-law and you are calling her mom?" Diablo wondered aloud shaking his head at the changes being  made.32

" I am sorry, Diablo, You can call me mom also. I just kind of figured that you would, but you took to calling me Em, so I thought that maybe you were more comfortable with it." She spoke sadly " If you do not want me to work here that is fine."33

"Mom" Diablo stated tenderly. " My mother died when I was young, and my two brothers and I had a dear old grandfather who raised us, but you're daughter is the only woman I have been close too. She is the only woman that was able to batter down those walls I had built around my heart. I do not care if you work for me, because I need my bartender back so she will not have time to cook."34

" You mean your going to let me work for you?" Emerald asked slowly, a smile on her face.35

" Yes, Mom, I am going to let your work for me, for us. I think this has just became a family owned bar. I have to Sapphire behind the bar."      Diablo stood to his feet and walked to the bar where he fixed his own glass of tea.36

" Thor, Kobe, you both know you have always been a part of my family. We have always been closer then my brothers." Diablo sipped his tea. " I mean I love Diego, Durango and Durant but you know that since they all found themselves, I seldom see them. It is you two that stand beside me."37

" Family owned now." Thor agreed as he picked up his glass to make a toast. Everyone followed suit.38

" Next week, Fire, You will become my bride. I gave your mother the house because it is across the street and I can take care of the both of you. I have to attend to business and if you feel up to it tonight mind the bar, darling." He walked back to her and kissed her softly. " Come on Kobe let's go get the books and orders done. Mom take care of my Fire."39

He kissed his soon to be mother-in-law on the cheek. He loved each member of his soon to be family.40

Sapphire walked over to the guitar slowly, picking it up she begin to play the chords to "It's Your Love". She sang softly, Her heart so full of love at the moment overflowed pouring out in her voice as she sung the song. Emerald tapped her foot as she helped Thor get ready to open the bar that night.41

Diablo and Kobe worked on the books as they listened to Sapphire sing.42

" You should let her sing with the band one night." Kobe told him, making Diablo look up at him. " Mom told us today that was what Sapphire had her heart sat on; to sing."43

Diablo stared at him. " I didn't know that she wanted to sing, I knew that she could sing. She is singing with the band tomorrow night. I already had it set up after I heard her sing the other day."44

" She will love you even more. Emerald said that Sapphire told her she did not want to be famous just to sing to a small crowd." Kobe spoke as the phone rang. Diablo answered it then groaned in to the reciever.45

" Thanks for calling." He hung up shaking his head46

" It looks like Sapphire is making her debut tonight. Freeman hit a tree and is in the hospital laid up with a broken leg. He will be out for a while."47

"Let's go tell her. We can finish the books later. I have everything up to date and the orders have been made." Kobe suggested making Diablo smile at him.48

" Sure why not." 49

Sapphire saw the love of her life as he walked out of the office with a frown on his face. Emerald and Thor came walking over to stand in front of Sapphire. " What is wrong?" Thor asked as Diablo came walking over to them.50

" I need a new bartender, Sapphire can not do it any longer." Diablo stated with a sigh.51

Sapphire stared at him. " What do you mean I can not do it any more?"52

She felt the hurt pierce her soul.53

" It seems that my lead singer is laid up with a broken leg and I have just hired you to fill his place."54

" What?" She squealed without thinking, throwing herself in his arms.55

" If I knew I would get this reaction, I should have done it the first night I hired you." Diablo stated making her blush.56

" Thank you, darling." She kissed him passionately.57

" Your welcome, baby, but that leaves me without a bartender."58

" Mom and I can handle the bar." Thor stated making Diablo look at him.59

" I am sorry but I never knew my mother, and I kind of like having one now even if she did adopt me."60

They all bursted out laughing as the big hard Thor pulled the small woman beside him. " It is a wonderful idea." Diablo told him, and smiled at the radiant look on everyone's face.61
