Memories of Good Burger

"Welcome to Good Burger, home of the good burger, can I take your order?"1

"I'll have a rabbit burger, with bacon and a side of bird, preferably flamingo."2

I sighed and spoke into the microphone. 3

"Duncan, get lost, I'm working."4

"Hold the hoofs, thanks doll."5

For all his craziness, I had to smile. You could always count on my best6

friend Duncan for a few laughs while working at a dull minimum wage job that is Good Burger.  7

"I see you smiling in the microphone." said Duncan8

"You caught me, now get inside and leave the drive-thru to the people with cars."9

"ohh, how you hurt me, you evil evil person!"10

"Duncan, come on! You're gonna get me fired!"11

"Please Kaz, we both know that your deadbeat manager is never here, get real."12

"Yeah but he comes back at any minute, you know that" I said. "My job may not be glamorous but it's getting me money."13

"You should know I expect a big Christmas present this year, maybe a toaster or a blender." Duncan said.14

I turned around. There was Duncan sitting on the counter, in the near empty restaurant. 15

"Get off that, and you know I don't let you near anything that heats up or has a blade."16

"Pretty please, Kaz, I've been a good boy all year long, and I think I deserve a present from a jolly person in a red suit, don't I?" pouted Duncan.17

"Did you just call me fat?"18

"Moi? Never!"19

I laughed. Duncan had a way of making anybody laugh. Here was me, working away in a grease pit, where the fries are made of God knows what and my blue eyed, blond haired best friend and crush from first grade all the way to senior year, was able to make me feel better while he is jobless, penniless, and standing there with a three year old pout that only made me love him more. 20

I'd been working at Good Burger for three years but there was Duncan everyday cheering me up. He had nicknamed the restaurant "Crap on a Bun" but he was still here. But every fairy tale must come to an end and sadly I'll be going off to college this year and he'll be in another state.  I know, I'm a hopeless romantic, and every time I see him I'll hug him like he died and he'll crack a joke that I won't stop laughing about and just thinking about it makes me want to cry but I guess we'll always have the memories of Good Burger. 21

Ah yes, the good ol' memories of Good Burger. I really liked that show when it was on. One day when I was sick (hallucinating was a better term) I got my chance to see that movie again for the first time in like, six years. Ah, the pangs of nostalgia and the side-effects of anti-hallucinogens. Those are the days. Anyway, thank you for my feelings of being all warm and fuzzy on the inside and I must say, you do a damn good job at this stuff.
