When we last saw Brandi the Band-aid, she had fooled a whole town in to believing she was living in sin with two men on a tropical island, causing them to flee their town. With nobody to sort out their lives for them, what was the point in staying? Reluctantly they paid the fees for professional help, driving more than one therapist into early retirement. 1
Brandi the Bluffer, as she had gleefully named herself, had not left the town at all, instead slipping into her basement with the contents of her freezer. She munched Hot Pockets while upstairs the exclamations of horror and disbelief faded away as the people left. Once the town was deserted, with the exception of herself, she crept from her basement and danced happily in the streets. 2
After three months of cavorting around town amusing herself with the possessions left behind in the homes of the people who had so depended on her, she was now Brandi the Bored. Sure, the half finished knitting projects and nailing shingles to roofs that already had them had amused her for awhile, but there was only so much fun to be had, especially when she ran out of spray paint and bare patches on lawns. 3
Brandi had no problems to solve, neither for herself or for anyone else, since her human contact was limited to posters and the billboards she sometimes chatted to. The work that she had done her entire life had been taken from her, and she did not know what to do with her life.4
She thought back to three people who had always seemed a little more intelligent that most people in the town, and decided to enlist their aid. Maybe her problem last time she had emotional problems was that she revealed them to the whole town, and everyone had different ideas on how to fix them. But surely these three educated souls could come to the same conclusion.5
Brandi the Brilliant climbed out of the playpen and took the pacifier out of her mouth. She disregarded the Play Skool phone in her hand and strode over to the real phone. Miraculously, even with no workers at the phone company, the line worked. She decided that a conference call would be easier, and dropped both phones. 6
Arriving at the local AmerenUE building, she spun around in the chairs while waiting for all three of them to connect. 7
“Hello?” they all asked. “Who’s calling?”8
“It’s Brandi,” she said, and fell out of the chair as she tried to stop spinning and roll over to the speaker phone.9
“Brandi!” they cried out joyfully. They were tired of paying therapists, especially with being underpaid for their jobs. There was a moment of suspicious silence before they asked, again in unison, who else was on the line with them.10
Brandi the Brilliant was very happy, for the three had spoken in perfect unison three times. Surely this was a good sign that they would be able to agree on a solution to her problem.11
“There are three of you on the line: Kim, Cara, and Dan,” she told them. They exchanged hellos to each other, and fell silent, wondering what had prompted Brandi to call them.12
“Did you enjoy your time with Pedro and Juan?” Kim asked politely. 13
Brandi the Blushing told the trio her secret, that she had never left at all. Her teacher friends were floored, and timidly asked what she had done with her time. Brandi assured them that their homes were in tact and told them all what comfortable couches they had.14
Brandi the Begging asked them to come to her town and solve her problem. They agreed, but Dan said that he would only come if she allowed him to take home a box of Star Crunch he had hidden in his home. Brandi said he could, and made a mental note to replace the box that she had eaten from his hiding place. 15
When they arrived, Brandi seated them at the dining room table in what had been the mayor’s house. She had replaced the hard wooden chairs with computer chairs that didn’t roll, for she still had bruises from her spinning chair accident.16
Dan dived in to his Star Crunch, Cara cut the cheesecake Brandi the Baker had made for her, and Kim kept struggling to open the bag of lollipops that was set at her place. Finally all three were chewing happily, watching Brandi the Bashful as she asked if they had any ideas. She doodled on a piece of graph paper while they put their heads together and discussed the possibilities.17
As she drew squiggly lines intercepted by more squiggly lines, Brandi’s heart swelled with the love that she had once had for helping others. But this time, she realized, it was not love for the advice and help the three were giving her, though that was part of it. It was the fact that they cared enough to give her some of their time for these little talks, when they were already stretched thin with their teaching duties and familial commitments as it was. 18
While this startling revelation had caused Brandi the Butterfingers to drop her uncapped markers to the white carpet, the three teachers had reached their conclusion. Cara had been elected to speak, since Murphy had a mouthful of sweets and Kim had only just managed to open a lollipop, putting it happily in her mouth both to enjoy the taste and so she didn’t interrupt.19
Cara told Brandi the Beholden that she wasn’t happy because she wasn’t working hard. They knew that she enjoyed work, though she was a die hard procrastinator, and had concluded that Brandi was so restless because of the lack of work. They urged Brandi the Bairn to think of her future, and suggested various careers for her to attempt. But, they cautioned, she would have to work hard and be dedicated, no playing around like she was doing now. They told her that they knew she could do it and do it well, and they would support her. 20
Brandi the Beaming thanked the three, and felt a renewed sense of purpose. They advised her to invite the people back to their homes, and explain to them how helping them all was draining her and she needed a career change. Brandi agreed, but had a proposition of her own.21
Brandi the Benevolent invited them to stay in the deserted town for a few weeks, as a vacation. They were tempted, but reluctantly declined the offer, insisting that they would need to be getting back to their rowdy freshmen and lazy seniors. Brandi could see the struggle of Cara as she weighed the options of crying freshmen and a week of peace. She assured the trio that they would have the town to themselves, and could do whatever they so desired, and she would see to it that their absence was not noticed. High school students are rarely observant enough to notice a different teacher anyway. As long as a stressed out adult stood in the front of the room pleading with them to pay attention, everything was normal, as far as they were concerned.22
With the promise of an absence without penalty, the three eagerly accepted and rushed Brandi outside, where she climbed into a golf cart and puttered away.23
Once at the high school where the three taught, Brandi slipped into The Core and snuck first into Cara’s class. This was a class of juniors and seniors studying the literature of children. Brandi put in a movie for them, and they promptly fell asleep. Next, she went to Dan’s room, and handed the seniors a long, humorous story about buttons. The students were sufficiently absorbed in their giggling, so the satisfied Brandi hiked upstairs to Kim’s room. Though they were honors students, they were still sophomores, and had not yet developed enough to realize what was wrong. Brandi popped a lollipop into her mouth, arranged them in a circle, and let them debate.24
Meanwhile, back at the town, the three teachers had gone crazy. They weren’t used to this much freedom and fun, and it had gotten to their heads. They split up to skip and frolic around town, rarely seeing each other. When they did cross paths, they would chant, “I ain’t no teacher today and I ain’t gonna do good grammar!”, then giggle hysterically and break up again.25
When Brandi the Bemused came back to the town, she found Dan rocking with a guitar on top of the Krispy Crème with a pink football helmet on his head, Cara singing made up words while she spun around in her sparkly tutu, and Kim dancing back up with a wacky waving inflatable arm flailing tube man, both of them wearing matching green suits. 26
Discretely Brandi checked the time and began to film the scene. You never knew when you’d need money. Hours later, Brandi gave up filming. Her watch had said noon for the past three hours, and she had eaten all the gum that made up the wrist band, so she ate the face too and turned off the camera. 27
She yelled, flashed lights at the rooftop jammers, threw marshmallows, and sent paper airplanes with letters begging them to come down. But they had barricaded the building, and would not let her ruin their fun. “GONNA SHOULDA WANNA!” Cara sang beautifully, and Dan strummed along with the tempo of her dance. Kim was waving about madly, trying to match the erratic movements of the plastic creature. 28
They wouldn’t last forever, Brandi thought, so she went out and came back with a tent and an Easy Bake Oven. She made brownies for hours before the trio clambered down and squeezed into the tent. Dan had an aching neck from the heavy helmet, and Cara’s legs were tired from the dancing she had done. Poor Kim’s arms were limp at her sides. 29
Brandi fed the tired souls and announced that she was going to allow people back into the town. They agreed and cheered her decision, and Brandi left them to go to the various towns in the world to locate the people of her own home town. 30
When she returned, the town was in perfect order. The three teachers had restored the town to its former condition and awaited the return of their students. Their teacher faces were firmly in place on their first day back in the classroom.31
Sometimes Brandi would see the teachers outside of school, or visit them after the day was done, when they were still being teachers. Although she loved them dearly as her teachers and mentors, she couldn’t help but smile when she thought of the rooftop rock band performed by her crazy teachers; and she adored them even more now that she knew they were as human as anyone else. 32

The second part of a story. This one was written mainly for the viewing pleasure of the three teachers featured in the story. I hope they find it as hilarious as I did. The link to the first story is on the top of my author page, if you would like to take a gander.
